I am interested in purchasing my son a Lego Mindstorm for Christmas, and need to know the absolute "must" extras that I need to purchase. The Mindstorm is going to stress the wallet and I can't buy everything. Any advice on a few extras that I need to purchase for the Mindstorm set?

Thanks in advance!

I got the mindstorms set for my sons and myself for Christmas a few years ago. Between the included instructions and various projects available online (nxtprograms.com ?) I think we were making something new with it almost every week for the first few months.
It is complete and a lot of fun.

    Thanks dsdg88...

What are your thoughts on a rechargeable battery pack? Any "must have" sensors not included in the original packaging?

    Thx.

We use regular rechargable AA batteries without any problem. I did add a sound sensor later but we have yet to use it.

The WiFi component looks really interesting! I'll have to show it to him and he can save up his allowance. ;-)

On second thought, I may have to get my self one.

dsdg88 - I like your thinking regarding rechargeable batteries. A whole lot cheaper than getting a pack from Lego.
