Comment editor gone weird?

I've been away so I've not used the forum for a week, but having just done so it seems the editor has gone screwy and no longer allows attachments, images to be uploaded, or indeed line breaks in messages unless you use HTML.

Is it a general problem, or just me?

Not just you. Line breaks are a problem as are images for me and lots of other people have also commented. Welcome back Huw

I've logged a problem on the support forum. Hopefully it'll be sorted soon.

Also another minor issue. My, as well as others avatars aren't displayed correctly.

@Huw I think @Matthew rolled the forum back to a previous incarnation in a bid to deal with some issues, too. So there might be some issues related to the rollback, and others not. Might be worth having a pow-wow with the whole admin team, to pull all the strands together.

@oldtodd33 - I don't know... I like the new "jpeg not displayed" avatar.

^ I actually did think some people had created it by choice... like some sort of avatar-missing avatar joke thing, like 'user banned' and so on. lol

Have just seen this having had the same problem - @Huw did you get any response?

This might be a bit out of topic but what comes to avatars, my avatar changed when I changed my email, why is that? I liked the first one more. It seems I gotta change my email a few more times to get a better one, haha.

The system generates them automatically. Best thing to do would be to upload a custom one then it only changes when you want it to.
  • TarDomoTarDomo Member Posts: 515
Yep, I was considering that. I'll give it a try.

I apologize for resurrecting an old topic, but I have a related questions for Marketplace posts:

Is it possible to modify the time limit settings for an initial posting on a Marketplace so item want/have lists can be updated?

This may be completely unworkable, but if Vanilla can accommodate that just for the Marketplace - I think it would cut down the cumbersomeness for people that try to continually update their stuff.

I think it would cut down on multiple threads and hopefully better streamline transactions.  (For those of us that are looking for random stuff.)

    Thanks!

    @kiki180703 probably agrees?

    I do agree @SumoLego ;)

I would also suggest that when you update your want/have list, your thread gets bumped up as if you posted another comment in the same thread. (For example, instead of "1 new", it could say "updated".)

@Huw - I neglected to include you to draw your attention to my question.

    Thanks!

And I also wanted to mention, it would make it much, much easier for @kiki180703 to maintain the BrickLink list for Brickset members.

I don't believe there is any control over that time limit, and particularly at a category level.

But I agree it would be good to be able to. I'll ask Vanilla support.

@SumoLego I didn't think of that! And yes, it would be SO much easier!

@Huw Another thing, would it be possible to allow more characters in a comment? Right now, because of the character limit, I can't include the whole list of Bricklink stores in one post.

The time limit can be changed but it's across the board. I don't think it would be desirable to remove the limit altogether which is what's needed in the marketplace, though.

The limit is 8000 chars. It's not recommended to make it longer, apparently, so go ahead and post 2 comments :)

I agree, if you can't make that time-limit adjustment specific to a particular category (i.e. the Marketplace) then I would leave it as is.

But, I think if that is an improvement Vanilla can make, it would be much appreciated.

Going back to your original post @Huw , I have the line break and missing attachment options but, only on my work phone.

The sony I use at home is fine but the MS windows phone at work puts in line breaks when typing but, when you post it's a wall of text and has the missing options for pics etc.

Rather odd and has been a problem for months now, any ideas or are MS phones just rubbish?

Could be your work web filtering - we use a system at my office that blocks certain code and sites, which means I can't see the buttons above the post I'm making here, but I can still use them if I hover and click in the right place.

Or, the MS mobile browser isn't standards compliant, of the forum isn't standards compliant, or both.

I presumed it was because I signed up to the Forum this week and the whole thing has subsequently lost the will to live.

@MaffyD - Not filters, we don't have Wi-Fi in the office so I pop to the cafe to use theirs.

I think the MS phones software is just plain pony.

^ Well, the café could do some filtering of their own I suppose, but you're probably right... sadly.
