Design By Me advice?

I'm going to take a stab at a project using LDD and Design By Me - a Lego jewelry box for my wife's Christmas present. Anyone have any general (or specific) tips or tricks for using Design by Me? Such as, it appears to me that it is more cost-efficient to use 1 larger brick instead of 2 smaller ones, where possible. I know this isn't the cheapest way to MOC, but by making it a present for my wife I can justify trying it out :). Thanks in advance for the advice!

If you want to save on costs, you can purchase the parts via Pick-A-Brick online (http://shop.lego.com/pab), but then you would have to produce the box & instructions yourself.

Just a heads up Lego are saying 24th Nov for last orders for Design By Me before Christmas. And on that theme they are closing the service down forever on the 16 Jan. so it really is now or never.

Almost 3 years after they closed it ... and lego are still referring to the DESIGN by ME service in their emails ... :-)

Are they just numbered sequentially, then? So if this is number 2030 (going by the URL) there were over 2000 posted before this? If that was 3 years ago, how many are we up to now?!

Yes, they're numbered sequentially and this is 2030. The latest one posted this evening is 17562!
