Buying empty Lego boxes?

So now and then I see on eBay, or other marketplaces add's where people sell empty Lego boxes. Who want's to buy an empty box? I ask this question, because my son finally saved enough money for the #70810. I wonder if it's worth selling the empty box?

Many collectors prefer a boxed set to a loose one; sometimes boxed examples are extremely expensive and/or hard to find, so as a compromise you might buy (or Bricklink) a set without the box with a view to subsequently buying the box if/when you find one.

No harm in trying to sell the empty 70810 box, although since the set's still available there might not be much interest at this point.

So, it's better to save the box for the next 10 year .... Thanks for your reaction.

I know some people make framed wall art with them, collages and whatnot. I asked a guy on BL who bought a bunch from me and he sent me a photo of his Lego room lined with poster-sized frames. Looked pretty cool!

And judging by what is sometimes sold on ebay, some people buy them to fill up with random used Lego to sell on.

I have a huge stack of boxes. I have thought about selling them, but it seems weird shipping an empty box in a bigger box. And where do I find a bigger box to ship some of these boxes?

So I might just recycle them in the near future.

That's always my suspicion. Buy an empty box from a premium set, fill it with a load of crap and then try and pass it off as a second user version of the premium set.
