I sold my #7879 that I got on sale for a very good price. I needed a clear out for my big move and I don't regret it. I think it's a poor set. May be the only decent figure is the injured Luke in the tank.

Does the Hoth set have a plaque?

Also, this should reinforce the notion that Lego doesn't pay much attention to the aftermarket.  Whatever will get a $249.99 set off the shelves, they'll call it UCS, BCS, CBC...

And not focus any effort on consistency or nomenclature.

^Nope. The potential candidates that skirt the line of UCS are the playsetss such as Insult on Hoth, Ewok Village, Death Star #10188 all of which don't have plaques. That's why I'm choosing to ignore the poor use of the UCS seal on the Hoth set and exclude it from my proper UCS collection. I may end up buying it anyways, but will be treated just like any other SW set otherwise.

Then you get to the unique components: the shield generator and ion cannon. Even if you swallow the price tag for the sake of these components, they're flawed and need fixing themselves. I'll likely BL these some day, but not until I can figure out (or someone else does it for me!) how to add a fourth element (disk?) to the generator and how to fix the mess that is the back of the cannon.
    Been there, done that.

it took me all of a minute to work out what extra bits were required for the fourth generator itself.  Just look at the three originals.  MOCing the extended base they then have to sit on took an hour or so, mostly taken up by scrabbling through my unsorted white bricks.

Putting the back on the ion canon, extending its base, removing the technic bits and fitting a proper weapon has taken a few hours over a couple of days.  I just need the final Bricklinked bits to arrive and I'll see about posting some photos of my efforts.

    And the Sandcrawler doesn't, either...

^Which is a travesty. I want to pick up a custom UCS sticker and moc up a plaque stand for it. Thereby fixing TLG's error and making it consistent to rest of the UCS collection. What I also want is for TLG to revise the Hoth set box and remove the UCS seal from the front of it, I think this would be an effort worthy of being the first Brickset petition to Lego.

Ah, unless they consider it a playset!  More like Hoth, less like a vehicle...
