[USA] Target: Target Gift Card with free LEGO Available Again & Wanted

edited November 2011 in Shopping USA/Canada
Target Store in America will have the Lego gift card available again this year. It has 49 pieces and can be built into either Bullseye the Target dog, a polar bear, or a snowman.

If someone state side could get me one (or Two?) of these and ship to me in the UK I could either trade or just give you the Dollar in return?

Thanks

I might be able to help you out, I'll try to get over there soon

I'm also interested in some. What's the lowest amount that can be put on them?
Could you for example, buy 1 for $3, use it to buy 3 that are $1 each, and send me the 3 $1 ones and the bricks from the $3 one?

$5 is the lowest you can put on the card (box)
  • KelphazardKelphazard Member Posts: 101
It's not possible to use a gift card to buy other gift cards, it's a long sranding retail rule
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
I still have some of these from last year if anyone wants to trade. Although about the only things I can think of right now that I want is the Alien Conquest Walker polybag. I need to update my want list here.

Never seen these... are they located with normal gift cards at check-out?
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ They are usually by the greeting cards.
  • LegogeekLegogeek Member Posts: 714
^ Thanks, will keep my eyes open for them.

I'd like to declare my interest in getting hold of one of these as well please. Thanks.

I asked at Wilsonville, OR Target and they have them, but won't be putting them out until Sunday. They may put them in the toy section.
  • achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
The girl was just putting them out this morning at the Tanasbourne, OR Target. I snagged two out of a fresh box. It's actually 48 pieces, not 49 and the Item# on the bag of parts is 4659758.
  • achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
Anyone know what the minimum value is they let you put on these? I put $5 on each just to not seem like a jerk, but would gladly snag more if they let you put $1 on them instead.

^^ thanks for the info on the set; I've added to the Database.
I've used your photo as a place holder when creating the entry; is it OK to keep it? Thanks.

^^ Yep. Go ahead and use the photo. I'll try and take some nicer ones later if I get the chance. I want to add the inventory to Bricklink, but the set itself is still being "reviewed".

Is there anything else you want to know about it for the database?
  • achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
The packaging itself folds into a book and on the cover, spine and in the text on the back it says "Official North Pole Builder's Guide". So I'm guessing that's the official name of the set. The gift card itself is attached to the back of the plastic box and it says "Official North Pole Building Permit" and it's got an image of Bullseye the dog in Lego form.

The back of the packaging says this verbatim: "Congratulations! Here is your Official North Pole Builder's Guide. Inside is your Official North Pole Building Permit GiftCard. This LEGO® guide provides you with all of the tools to assist Santa with your LEGO building skills! We wish you a jolly god building time!"

Wow... there's 5 extra pieces in here too. 2 white cheese slopes, 1 black round 1x1 plate, 1 white 2x2 plate, and 1 black robot arm.

I am interested in a couple of these or more, am also UK based. These are great stocking filler presents for my kids.

So just to clarify and this may be a silly question.

You put $5 on the gift card, you get the free LEGO, can you then go and buy some polys ( which are 50% off) and pay with the gift card?

Would trade or buy. PM me, if anyone is able to help
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
^ If that's possible, please can someone grab me a couple, and spend the cards on some reduced polys? Interested in HP, Atlantis, Ninjago or City.
    Cheers

That's the cutest thing! I would also love to jump on the UK bandwagon. Any of my traders want to help me out?
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
I bought about 20 of these last year. I'm planning to do the same this year. I'll do my best to get extras for trading. I'm interested in AC Walker, AC Jetpack, and the Kingdoms battlepacks. Maybe the HP Lab as well - although I think I read it's going to be one of the Target Xmas season polybags.
  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 Member Posts: 1,431
I went to my local Target tonight and they didn't have any out yet. I asked a couple of employees and they had no idea what I was talking about. I did pick up some of the polybags they had though.
  • MinifigsMeMinifigsMe Member Posts: 2,844
@sidersdd - I can put the lab and jetpack aside for you. Are you able to use the giftcard to get some poly? I'm not bothered about it being sealed. Cheers
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ Yeah, I'm hoping those cards come out soon so that I can use them to buy the Halloween polys which are 50%+ off.
  • achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
Okay, so the minimum value you can put on a gift card is five dollars. But you can buy a gift card with another gift card, so you can see where this is going… There aren't currently any small items I want to trade for, but I now have 8 extras of these things if someone wants to pay for packaging and shipping.

Wait wait wait..... So you're saying you can 'buy' a LEGO gift card and put $5 on it, then use it to get another gift card? Which they load with $5? And you do that over & over? So now I'm thinking you got 8 or 9 of these all for only $5? Doesn't sound like something Target would let slip through the cracks, or am I missing something?
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
@sidersdd I can also put some labs aside for you.
  • kylejohnson11kylejohnson11 Member Posts: 508
@Legogeek they do not allow you to purchase a giftcard with a giftcard.

    ^ I know, but that's not what @achillespdx said:
...But you can buy a gift card with another gift card, so you can see where this is going….
    ~ (*_*)??? - that's why I brought it up.
  • kylejohnson11kylejohnson11 Member Posts: 508
@Legogeek my bad, that's what I get for skimming :)
  • bluemoosebluemoose Member Posts: 1,716
But what you can do is, say, get 10 of them & load each with $5. You can then use the $50 on the cards to pay towards some other purchase in-store, & keep the 10 Bullseye sets ...

You are correct. I was as shocked as you are. I initially bought 2 gift cards for $5 each yesterday. I then stopped at another Target this morning and used those 2 gift cards to buy another 2 gift cards. While standing at the same checkstand I then did the same thing 3 more times, thus bringing my total to 10 gift cards for $10 which I may use for more gift cards tonight... not sure.

I've never run into a business that allows you to buy gift cards with gift cards but apparently it's OK at Target.

Thanks. Wierd though.... if I find some, I'll have to give it a try.... ;o)

@achillespdx definately interested. I am UK based. Tried messaging you but you do not accept people contacting you. Message me if you still have them and want to offload some or all.
  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 Member Posts: 1,431
I guess that's good that you got them BUT I'd be really pissed if I go to get ONE and they all all gone because someone took advantage. Nothing personal... but there is another side to that.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
@achillespdx: i'd appreciate if you could set aside two for me in case I'm not able to get any locally. I don't think they've become available yet in my area.
  • kylejohnson11kylejohnson11 Member Posts: 508
My Target is putting them out Sunday. I'm guessing they will be featured in the ad.

If these go anything like last year, then be sure to get them if you see them. But don't forget to redeem their value before you put them away! :o). And don't fret because they were available online too last year. The minimum is higher online, though, and there was a small charge associated.
  • RobbRobb Member Posts: 144
Someone has snagged them all at my local Target, which isn't really local for me. Good thing I was in the area anyway...
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
The flyer says they'll be available beginning Sunday 11/6...

I just got back from Target got 8 then turned around and bought HP poly and Heroica with the gift cards.
Looks like they have the gift cards display centers through out the store, so make sure you check out all the aisles.

My store (South Setauket, NY) didn't have any when I went this morning.
  • malachirobertsonmalachirobertson Member Posts: 268
One of my Target stores did not have it this morning (Northern Indiana). Not surprising per the inventory checker.

    None yet in Sacramento, either.

At my Target they are with Christmas decorations, not the gift card/greeting card section.
