Advice on Marvel Superheroes Minifigs

DarthMorlDarthMorl Member Posts: 335
Hi All,
As a reward for spending my hard earned cash on a Fairground mixer, another theme started but at least I got in at the beginning of this one, I recieved a free polybaged spiderman. Great I thought to myself a freebie is always good!! Well of course all this has done is fuel my desire for another "exclusive/promo" collection before I've even finished my Starwars one!!
so my question is what are the "exclusive/promo" Minifigs and which ones are the more expensive ones?
thanks in advance for any advice:)

    Star Wars and Superheroes?
My advice would be to get another job

Passed that- next week starts the Winter Soldier promo. Spend $75 at Shop Lego to get it free
or just wait a few hours after and see if you can get it relatively cheap down in the Marketplace

Another job would be a good idea lol.
Thanks for the heads up on Winter Soldier. I live in the UK so will check if the promotion is on over here

The list of exclusive polybags (and some that become non-exclusives) is as long as Chewbacca's arm.

Just the tip of the iceberg...

    Lego Store Exclusives
    Toys 'r' Us Exclusives
    Target Exclusives
    Gamestop Exclusives (video game releases)
    DVD exclusives (Hobbit, Superhero)

I think the store Five Below had some exclusives last year.

Then there are the regular polybags that come and go...

    Good luck!

^ The winter Soldier was on here back in Feb and March with the purchase of the Hellicarrier. I don't think we're getting a wider release of it, although availability in the US will hopefully mean it falls from its current price on eBay/BL.

In terms of the cost of SH figures, the most expensive are the 2012 Toy Fair Iron man and Captain America exclusives. Last time I looked they were upwards of £1,000. Next come the SDCC figures, with the 2013 ones around the £500 mark and other years £150-£250. Then its the various poly bag figures, recent ones like the spider jumper go for £7 or so on Ebay, up to £30 or so for older ones like the hulk. After that its the set figures which range anything from £30 to £2-3 each if you buy them individually.

And don't forget the Chrome Darth Vader, White Boba Fett - they're in the $75.00 range.

    Thanks All,
Its only the promotional polybag figs I'm after really and possibly the comic con/toy fair figs.
Not so interested in figs from sets.....thankfully lol.
    Can anyone list the promo's?

Thank you BrickDancer, that's a scary list lol.... Gonna be great fun collecting all them :)
Anyone got a bag to start me off??
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
Only the top part of that list is crazy, the SDCC + ToyFair Pair will be about $5K.

The DC set should be around $120, the Marvel set should be around $80. So $200 total for the regular promos.

I made a custom query to help me with my hunting.

    http://brickset.com/sets/query-1933

This lists everything in the Brickset database that has the packaging tagged as a polybag.

To further refine it, just choose the theme you wish to collect. For instance

    Marvel polybags

    DC polybags

Hope that helps as a quick reference.

@DarthMorl the 'sh' stands for Superheroes. Same as 'sw' stands for Star Wars on all those figs in the Bricklink/Brickset databases.

There is this and this but the minifigures are/were available in other sets.
  • DrmnezDrmnez Member Posts: 855
The toy fair mf are gonna be hard to come by. With only 125 of them and not many selling them you'll probably pay a premium for the set. Plus it would be better to get them with the bag and/or lanyard to "prove" authenticity.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
@darthmorl anytime! Let me know if you need help on the SW figs list, I have that handy too.

^^Did you want to make a new thread for Star Wars or just add to this thread?

  • DarthMorlDarthMorl Member Posts: 335
This thread is fine by me but I'm happy to do a SW if that is more appropriate?
  • DarthMorlDarthMorl Member Posts: 335
Do you have a similar run down of polybags, DVDs etc for this lot? @BrickDancer
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
    sh046 - Batman (Electro Suit)
    sh163 - Batzarro
    sh083 - Clark Kent

Only these 3 came from DVDs or Books.

    sh143 - Superboy Came from a one-off Target Cube.

Rest of the figs came in Polys.

For what it is worth, here is a list of all of the exclusive and expensive figures.  Most are Super Hero and Star Wars at the top of the list.

What about 30167, Iron man v fighting drone?? Does he not count?
    VorpalRyu
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^He's already released as a regular fig in the Cosmic Cube Chase set, so was not included on the Promo fig list. Same for others like Robin, Thor and Hawkeye.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
@vwong19 Yes it's getting harder to keep up with the SH figs, as some of the recent waves and sets have been quite expensive in the way they spread out the figs. Plus SDCC is 4-years running that makes a 5th year most likely, just pray it's nothing like 2013.

  • donutboydonutboy Member Posts: 758
The Iron man from #30167 - Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone is exactly the same as the Iron Man from #6867 - Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape (sh015)
  • DarthMorlDarthMorl Member Posts: 335
Cool, so Robin Thor and Hawkeye basically are widely available within other sets making them not true promo only minifigs if I understand @BrickDancer and @donutboy correctly?

I dread sdcc. If there will be a SH presence, I hope there is only one, two at the most with there being at least 2k to keep cost down. LOL
