Spaceport 60080

Is it me, or is this set overpriced by $40-50?  That's expensive even for TRU.

I agree. I see this set doing as poorly as 3368, which TRU had on near-continual clearance after 6 months.

A lot of this wave is really overpriced. The large diving boat, too, is $120, when, IMO, it should be $80, just like this shuttle.

And the new main street at $180 is $30 too much.

The thing is way too expensive. When l first saw the set l thought it looked nice and was gonna be like $70-80. But it's so expensive! #10231 has over twice as many pieces, looks better, and was cheaper.

I was in the same boat.  I thought I would get this set for my son, but when I saw that it was $120 for 500 something pieces?  Way overpriced.

I don't buy from TRU anymore, with the exception of some of the polys that they carry.  You can always find sets cheaper at LEGO stores (RRP is cheaper than TRU!) or any other retailer, in my experience.

This set is priced badly by any measure. Weight, Price Per Piece, Wins Above Replacement...

That is nothing, saw the new town square at TRU for 189.99 USD

Perhaps they'll show up really cheap on Amazon.uk in 6-12 months.

^ & ^^ & ^^^ City Square is almost 1700 pieces though, not that that makes it any easier to swallow.  I'm hoping for another TRU BF deal on this set just like we had with Town Square a couple years ago.

It is interesting to note that #60080 is only £69.99 in the UK, so it is actually cheaper than it is in the US. I think £69.99 is a fair price but can see why $119.99 would seem very steep compared with similarly priced sets.

Lord I hope not. Im guessing it is more like 149.99 USD. There just is not enough in the set to warrant that price IMO

^The town square is $189.99 at the Lego Store too. TRU will probably bump it up in a week or two to over $200

I do agree that it should have cost about $99.  However it is a very heavy set with lots of large elements.  So price to volume of plastic used and considering its design its worth it.  I also wanted it badly.  So badly I MOCed this for it!

I paid $89 for mine after tax with VIP points.  I will be buying another with no remorse.  IMO its one of the coolest sets of the year.  However I am jaded as I've collected all city space since the 90s'.

Ugh, I guess Ill be waiting for the inevitable sale and discount on these.. even if it is a TRU exclusive I'm guessing it will be put on sale A LOT at that price point.
Just definitely not worth 189.99 USD to me.

I've been wondering the same thing! I couldn't believe it when I saw the price tag, for 586 pieces! That's twice the price it should be. I agree a lot of the new sets seem a bit overpriced, we might be seeing a trend towards a new "normal" for Lego prices.

or that's what they think they can get away with. I wonder if city is more popular in the US, because they seem to have to pay more. same for superheroes and star wars in France, very expensive.
