Managing your collections

Hey guys
Just wondering how people manage their collection. I have the sets for me and then I have a few spares and sets put aside for trading one day. I used to keep a spreadsheet, but decided to use the collection manager on brickset. The only thing is now I have a combined collection which gives me a false impression of my own collection

How do you guys manage this? Do you have 2 logins to have 2 collections? Or is there a way to have custom collection lists?

I just use the basic collection manager, but maybe the extra flags can be of use to you?

I have two distinct log-ins for my collection and my current tradable inventory.  Otherwise, I wouldn't know up from down and down from up. 

And I still occasionally forget what is fodder for trade in my stock.

I use the flags. 'available for trade' is one, 'ordered but but arrived' is another. Maybe sounds funny to have that last one but during one of my spending sprees I kinda lost track of which sets I still needed. I put in the ACM the details of each set and you can also add info in the notes. The good thing about the flags is that you can have a quick overview of all the ones that are for trade. If you have 3 of something and one is built,one is parted or for a MOC and one for trade /sale you could specify this in the notes. I think there is also a way to export the data of the ACM into a spreadsheet but have never tried it (yet).

Thanks for the advice. I looked at the custom flags thing, but ideally I would want a tag like "for trade/presents" and have a number for that. And then they would be kept separate. I think I might have to do what @SumoLego does.

I am a simpleton.  Plus, I don't have the discipline to keep track of the flags appropriately. 

I should probably do a third log-in for "stuff I gave to my kids that should be in @CommanderRaab's collection".

I'm still trying to figure out how to add lat/long fields so I can map my collection.

Another feature I would like to see at Brickset is for the wishlist to have rating eg. must have, like to have etc. Similar to what legoshop wishlist has.

I have one account for Brickset, and I take 'the collection' to mean what I want to keep for myself, not sell. At least that is my interpretation of what a 'collection' is.

Plus it really does eliminate the need for me saying I have 1 of something and then have to go remove it because I sold it.
