building up my collection

ConstantinConstantin Member Posts: 6
so as my collection is getting bigger by the week .. i noticed the sweet option of tracking what you have the "my sets" and if been looking around and trying to figure out how to add what i have . so far no luck . i went in the FAQ and still didn't find anything . I thought it would've been as easy as typing in my  set numbers and it would be added to  my  owned list . well it wasn't the case .

now forgive me if this is  in the wrong area of the  forum and if there is a post about this topic all-ready made i didn't find it .

now my question is HOW do i add my collection because for some reason I'm intrigued by how many sets i have and less then interested on know how much money i spend so far .. lol

little help .. this new guy needs a hand .

cheers

When you're logged in to the main site there are boxes to check on the right hand side of each set page. If most of your sets are from this year you can browse 2015 and mark the boxes without needing to go into each page. I'm not sure if that's available in every view but you can do it using the classic format.

Log into your profile on Brickset, click on MENU, then click on BROWSE.

Then just go through the database and check what sets you own. Simple as that :)

Inventory...  torture and utility all in one. I'm waiting for @Huw to update the keychain list so I can appropriately catalog the 90 different SW keyrings that are sitting in my basement office cube.

But it's very helpful to limit the scope of a collection once you see all of the options.

    I collect:
    CMFs
    Winter Village
    Creator Models (buildings, vehicles, etc.)
    Simpsons
    Mixels
    Trains
    Architecture
    Pirate Ships
    Superhero Minifigs
    Ideas
    Modulars
    UCS Star Wars
    UCS Everything Else
    Creator Polybags
    Holiday Polybags, Small Sets
    Lego Employee Gifts
    DK Books
    Avent Calendars
    And... Keychains.

This is in addition to the 'complete' sets of Monster Fighters, Batman I, Spongebob, Indy, Persia, PotC, Vikings, blah, blah, blah.

So looking at that list gives me pause when I see something on sale.  Do I really need a set of Galaxy Squad?  Do I need to hold onto an extra set of SW battle packs?

And I regret missing the boat on certain items like the Cafe Corner, Carousel and Haunted House.  Using Brickset then may have avoided such gaps in the collection.
