Of course, IF is now for sale back at shop.lego.com...

    For how long, who knows?
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
That's bizarre. I JUST got a message from TLG that my IF purchase (on backorder @ $121 each from the sale) was canceled because of overwhelming demand.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
So I bought 2 on Amazon for $150 each just to be sure I'd get it in case it blows up upon being retired.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Ditto, I have 3 on order from Amazon right now for that very reason. I had 4 purchased from Lego at the discounted price, plus 1 bought in the store, but I have no faith I'll get those 4 purchased over the weekend plus 1 more done this morning when it came back online for an hour.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
How long does it usually take for TLG to refund the purchases?
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Lego does not charge your card until they ship the item.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
No I mean when they cancel the order. I've gotten 2 of those cancellation emails this week.
  • OdinduskOdindusk Member Posts: 763
If you've gotten a cancellation notice from Lego, it means that nothing was shipped to you yet. And thus, you were not charged yet.

@LegoFanTexas - Please clone your wife or at least have her do a mind-meld on mine.
    Agreed!! :)

Apparently the Village Raid is also sold out now as well.. Wow, wonder if that is a gaffe.. didn't it just come out this year?

    Also,
My other order of Emerald Nights has now officially been canceled.. hope this means I get my VIP points back
  • andystarandystar Member Posts: 275
Just got the cancellation from LEGO for the Imperial Flagship, I placed the order early morning of Nov 25th.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
    Bummer...

Then my order this morning probably isn't going through, is it? :)
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
    Anyone watching 10188?

Down to 710 on Amazon, just over 1 day ago it was almost at 1,000, they are selling at least 200 of them a day (sheesh, think of their shipping rooms!)

Will they restock, or won't they?
  • andystarandystar Member Posts: 275
Amazon has over 1000 IF right now, wonder how fast that will go once they cancellation emails really start going out in mass.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
I doubt they will last long. :)
  • Rollo_TomassiRollo_Tomassi Member Posts: 113
I ordered an IF from Amazon. It kinda sucks though, because with the sale and 10% discount and my VIP points I was only paying $80 from Lego. Now I'm paying twice that from Amazon. Oh well, at least I'll get my VIP points back to spend on something else. Hopefully.

Battle of Endor is sold out again and already gone at retail at Amazon. Still some people selling it at only a ten dollar mark-up, for now. Though, if I recall correctly, a lot of people thought this set was dead over the summer, so I suppose it could come back again.

It's time for that sucker to get to bed. The Hoth Base now takes the lead.

I reckon the fire brigade, medieval Market village will sell out with the next modular due next year and the kingdom joust set coming as well as the ot drop ship.

On the main themes, probably all of toy story and Atlantis, Most of the first wave Ninjago sets, All star wars sets before 2011 apart from exclusives and big ones, all current hero factory and possibly pharoas quest.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
Any idea what the next Modular is? Thought I heard Town Hall before.

Overall, it seems like a big # of good sets are ending over the next few months.
  • doriansdaddoriansdad Member Posts: 1,337
^^ Thanks for the heads up Josh. Scooped a few at TRU with B1G1 50% off just in case they are gone for good this time. 8038 is an awesome set.

Update on Imperial Flaghip (posted to another thread also):

My first IF order (8:56am Nov 25) is cancelled, but my second IF order (4:57pm Nov25) just shipped. It appears LEGO does not honor the earliest orders, but uses some other method to determine who gets the IF.

I wonder what LEGO will say if I call and ask why the later order was filled before the earlier one.
  • kylejohnson11kylejohnson11 Member Posts: 508
@andystar give them a call. I am interested as to what they are going to say.
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
@andystar - I'd wait until I had the IF in hand before I call LEGO and say anything ;)

Good idea, I'll definitely wait a day or two until the shipment tracking shows its left their facility.

Theoretically, the IF I ordered this morning from Lego is shipping per the CS rep. I even had the gall to ask for my 10% rebate since my earlier order from the 25th had been cancelled. The rep said the 10% was going back on my CC. We'll see what happens...

On another note, I received multiple boxes from Lego today and my daughter said our neighbor almost crashed into his mailbox watching the FEDEX man stack them on our doorstep. Among the sets in those boxes were two ENs, so I don't have to sweat that anymore. Whew!
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,838
I only picked up two ENs and 1 IF, partly due to lack of funds because of continuous sales around Black Friday and the VIP pre-sale the week before (mommy, make it stop) and partly due to the leeriness of the IF staying Sold out, but it does appear gone for good, same with the EN, but with the EN it was a matter of how many I could afford, and got my order in just in time apparently because about 1 hour later they were 'Check availability' which means they are pretty much gone, and then Sold out the next morning, with the IF selling out later around 11am my time If I remember correctly. and I got both Shipping notices so I know they are on their way. Just wish they would have had these sets on clearance/sale during the pre-black Friday VIP sale at the stores.

This is why I usually work from home when I know I am getting boxes... one time I got about 8 boxes from UPS from a BOGO sale (including Death Stars) and I did not want them to have to drop them off at my apartment office. Then had to work from home the next day due to the 6 other boxes due to arrive that day... The UPS guy had fun that week, because on the 3rd day of BOGO my UPS gave to me.. 2 more boxes....

Saw the IF on sale on Friday on S@H, but waited to order and thus missed out on it because it was sold out by then. Bought a MVR instead. Then yesterday I dropped by the LEGO store and found two IF on sale with the same 25% discount. That and I got two Santa sets and three PAB boxes as a promotional offer. Win! Lesson to be learned: when online retail sells out check your local B&M stores.

So the Public transportation station is now sold out along with the Battle of Endor... again...
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
And City Corner. I actually like that one more than Public Transport. City Corner is $45 on Amazon.

If Public Transport had a complete rail line (monorail-ish but with overhang) with it ... it would have been a phenomenal set.

I think that's right. If you remember the previous threads, we have to call it T*** H***. It's a bit like the UCS R*-D* that is also expected!

So any thoughts on which set that has sold out over the past few weeks is going to garner the highest after-market value? Just curious what others are thinking along these lines.

IF and EN will do well, but I think GE will go highest if it does retire now because no one wxpected it so there is not much reseller stock.

I doubt that the Grand Emporium is gone forever since TLG has it on back order till December.

Agreed.. actually any track would have been nice.. even if only an oval...

Rumors of the GE's demise are greatly exaggerated :-)
Again FB should be gone by the end of this year..
Kinda surprised it is still around actually.
I think this is part due to less people wanting a fire house as a modular, and also the batch fiasco they had with parts missing...

Just wondered why the VW Camper Van 10220 is showing as discontinued (29th Nov) on here when its just been brought out. I checked with a lego representative and they say it will still be in production next year as its a hot seller for them.

^^ FB will be discontinued 12/2012 and the GE 12/2013 according to this list which is accurate so far and makes sense to me:

    http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/1008/offical-lego-discontinued-dates-direct-from-lego/p1
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ If true I just don't see how they can fit all these sets on their shelves, what with all the new stuff coming and all.
  • doriansdaddoriansdad Member Posts: 1,337
^^ Well all HP will be gone save for Diagon Alley. The older city sets will be gone as well along with the Imperial Flagship. Lego instore does not sell the seasonal Winter Sets throughout the year either. Seems that would leave plenty of shelfspace for hotsellers.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
@doriansdad - I've seen that list, first it is worth pointing out that Lego does not publish such information, so calling customer service and having a rep give this over the phone is really just that person's opinion.

The dates also don't make any sense, Lego has discontinued a modular set every year since they have been out, and Town Hall is coming out in a few months, do you REALLY think Lego is going to have 4 modular sets on the wall at the same time?

HP is finished, I can't see Diagon Alley sticking around until Dec 2013, I doubt their license even runs that long, the movies are over.

Of course only time will tell... :)
  • doriansdaddoriansdad Member Posts: 1,337
It has been accurate so far. As for 4 modulars at once my local Lego store only ever has 2 sets on the shelf while the 3rd is available online or thru other authorized resellers....I see no problem with 4 being available online or thru Toys R Us, Target etc. Given the bump the entire line will get from the mini modular sets then this marketing strategy would make sense.

Given Diagon Alley was released just this year and it is easily the best HP set then 2013 would be the earliest it retires. I see no problem with 12/2013 being an accuarte retirement date.

^ I think that Fire Brigade is a year off, I believe, judging by LEGO's past actions, it should be discon'd this year in Dec.. but I guess time will tell :-)
