Is anyone actually seeing it available online, or is "available" = "call to check product availability"?

I've only seen the latter for several days with intermittent checks.

It was available= 'Out of stock, expected ship date XXXXXXX' and then it was 'call for product availability' then 'Sold out' then 'out of stock...' again, then alternating between out of stock and sold out, etc etc.

The backordered GE at [email protected] usa placed in Mid june- received yesterday. Manufacture date is July first week 2014.

I was under the impression [email protected] is trying to sell out old stock from multiple locations.

Bottomline- GE is still being produced

No one should be surprised, that is why it has been showing 'Out of stock, will ship on XXXXXX' and also 'sold out' they are likely finding enough materials to keep making the sets. However, pretty sure it is on its way out as it is due to be EOL this year (if previous timelines have shown us anything) and it keeps going from 'sold out' to 'out of stock', that tells me that they may have enough for boxes and other materials to pack up whole GEs but eventually they will run out for the line.

And from what I have been told in the past by LEGO employes it is rare for them to return product back to LEGO to consolidate and sell.

I just checked lego shop @ home and it says "sold out"? So how long was GE in stock?
  • twoninerkentwoninerken Member Posts: 48
GE is currently showing as available with a ship date of 31 Jul 2014 at US [email protected]

If you don't like the current GE availability status just wait an hour. ;)

Sold out as of right now at US [email protected] In 30 minutes.. who knows?

Appears that Amazon (US) is out of the #10220 VW Van. Wonder if this means it will run out at LEGO shortly.
That and it appears that GE has been listed as 'Sold out' for about 2 days straight now.

Sold Out shown on both days but has also been available, check for availability and OOS on those days! I'm gonna bet it lasts the year, just putting it out there...

GE is grinding away in the US back to "Out of stock, expected ship date 7 Aug 2014"

If it ships in August will it include the mini mini promo or is that YMMV? Thanks,

What ever is in your cart is what they'll ship, right? I think you need to buy it in that month to get the exclusive. (I'm honestly guessing.)
  • chuckpchuckp Member Posts: 684
^ / ^^ I'm pretty sure @Tynamite is right and LEGO packs the boxes based on the cart/order. I believe the promos are tied to when you buy, not when it ships.

I received 2 backordered items late last year that did not include the holiday promos even though they shipped during the promo period. However, LEGO shipped my Flashback Shredder fig 2 weeks ahead of my backordered GE.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,825
Yes, quite often the promos are sent straight away as TLG don't have the means of holding them. They send them out to make sure they are allocated. The purchased stuff will then follow.

Yeah, just checked today and saw it was 'available' again after I checked earlier this morning. I still think it is EOL by about now, or soon, and will run out of stock by end of year, because I do not see any stores getting stocks of these in their online stores.
  • littlepuppilittlepuppi Member Posts: 181
could shops be sending them back to HQ and that is why it keeps coming "in stock"?
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
From my understanding; Lego [email protected] stock comes from a different warehouse than Lego Brand Stores and their inventory isn't mingled together.

^ Brand Retail stores will occasionally shift inventory among each other (e.g. Portland sells Pet Shops briskly, they're currently out of stock, and their order sheets don't show any arriving soon. Another west coast store is showing a lot of inventory and a quick talk with the manager there confirms that she'd be happy to unload them because they received an ungodly amount). A couple years ago I was told that stores NEVER shipped inventory back to the warehouse, but I know it has happened a couple times since in what was explained as special circumstance and not a change in process.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
^It seems that Lego policies are very inconsistent. When the Limited Edition Crawler was for sale on [email protected], I placed an order. My friend ordered 2. They processed the orders and even charged our credit cards. After a few days I called [email protected] to inquire why my order hadn't been shipped yet and they said they don't have my order on record. Obviously, I was miffed, but asked if I could have one of the Brand Stores ship one to me because of the mix up and I was told that they cannot do that because she didn't have access to Lego Brand Stores inventory. She went on to say that [email protected] and Lego Brand Stores get their inventory from different places.

So, is the Haunted House done? Has anyone seen it restocked recently?
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
I just ordered the VW Camper Van. I had previously owned 2 of them, but sold them all off. Seeing the variety of other great large scale cars, I think I want this one permanently in my collection, esp seeing the Mini, the Ghostbusters car (which I just ordered too), and the Back to the Future Delorean.

The Camper was a really fun build, and I remember at the time, wanting to make a fleet with custom colors. Sorry to see LEGO retire sets such as this one. I think the Haunted House is the set I will most be bummed about them retiring. LOVE that set as a model, as a victorian house, and for the dollhouse-like play value.

Thanks everyone for the heads up on potentially-possibly-maybe-soon-to-be-retiring-sets!

I'm not quite sure if HH is done yet. I'm thinking it will he in stock at Amazon around Halloween and make a push into the Christmas Holiday.

Or Halloween will drive out remaining stocks and drive up the price between Halloween and Christmas.

as the average lifetime for a set seems to be 2.5 years id imagine it'll be here into 2015?

Hard to believe that set is coming up to 2 years old, where has the time gone! :O
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
^Yeah, that is what I was figuring. I don't see Lego not capitalizing on keeping HH in stock for another Halloween/Holiday season.

I think that's true; however, that doesn't keep them from calling around to the stores and having the stores ship a set out. The last time I had a similar issue, that's exactly what they did for me. But things may have changed at TLG since then and they may not be as willing to provide that level of customer service.

There are so many sets that I could see EOLing at any moment. GE is definitely one, but there's also the Tower Bridge, Volkswagen, Sopwith Camel, Horizon Express, Arkhamm Asylum, Tumbler Chase, Batcave, multiple Iron Man sets, multiple Superman sets, Pirate Ship Ambush, all Galaxy Squad sets, and even the Death Star (since there are so many other SW UCS sets) just to name a few.

It used to be more predictable, but now resellers just have to roll the dice and pick what they think will go, which is an intended or unintended consequence of TLG's EOL policy. Why would TLG want a potential consumer to spend $2000 on a UCS MF (that TLG originally sold to the seller for a mere few hundred dollars) when the potential consumer could spend that same $2000 on products directly from TLG stores or [email protected]?

@Farmer_John Well NOW I'm depressed! Kidding - I think your point about how many potentially-retiring sets there could be also underscores how many amazing sets LEGO is releasing nowadays. I was surprised to even see that Tower Bridge is still in production!

LOL this 8 ball thing is cool, ridiculous, addictive, stupid and gr8 all at the same time.
I asked 4 questions non LEGO related and it told me exacltly what I wanted/expected to hear.
My fifth question was: Will Arkham retire before Orthanc? And the answer was: Ask again later.
