^Yep...There were a lot of the Funhouse sets sold, so it will take some time. However, I think they will top $100 within a couple years of EOL. It's a great set with lots of minifigs.

I got a shipment confirmation email for my GE order from SH. It's must faster than expected. I am still waiting for my death star.

It seems barnes noble sold out their r2-d2. I found one at our barnes noble today with a beated box. I asked to get another one and it turned out that all stores around and bn.com have none.

Seems GE goes back and forth. Available for purchase but back ordered and then a day later, or hours later, will show up as sold out. I guess if you missed an opportunity keep going back and if you see it's available don't hesitate. Buy it while you can...

Likely until it is removed or says 'retired product'

^^Actually, I'm glad that it has been like this. It has given everybody a second chance to grab a few.

That has been up for about 1 whole day now where it has not alternated from sold out to backorder to sold out.
Wonder if this is its last last LAST gasp or if LEGO finally made enough to last until the fall.

Noticed its back ordered in the UK again with the same date.

i think the demand that usually gets created when people realize that the set is going to retire ( the quick flipper demand) vanished once the "new" code seal in GE came alive. so, that artificial panic buying is gone. plus its been available for more than last 2 weeks here and there so i am sure they must have sold few 1000's. :D don't think there is any more demand.....

They give it a "Girl" tag in the UK as well, hmmm.

anyone know how to reclaim the VAT for the GE ordered from John Lewis? I called them and they gave me the VAT receipt and told me to contact the import agent. Not sure if it's the right thing to do.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
I can't speak for shipping from overseas, but from the Uk's perspective and when travelling outside the EU, say to the US, before departing the US and at the US airport, you are able to complete the necessary forms and provide your receipts as proof of purchase. The VAT rebate is then handed over the counter in cash. You're supposed to then declare the goods as you enter your home country. Obviously being toys, there's nothing to declare in your case.

The VAT rebate is provided by the Revenue, not the retailer.

It hasn't been orderable at [email protected] in Canada for a few days now. It has been sold out the whole last cycle of backordered in the US and UK ....

I guess I will receive the same answer from John Lewis. But I remember when purchasing from amazon.com they would just remove the VAT at the time of sale.

I think we may see this cycle for the short term. Long term it's clearly on the "outs". Clearly by now I ASSUME someone, somewhere at TLG has caught wind of all this GE hype and I am sure all the execs are having a nice little laugh on top.

Or the beginning of the road to another few weeks of "call to check product availability" then "sold out" several times a day...

Does this 27% thing work in the uk lego website or is this just a us discount??

Not even working in the USA any longer. It was good while it lasted but TLG made some big changes 2 weeks ago that shut alot of folks down (at least in the USA). Be careful grabbing more than a few of the remaining GEs unless you want a one way ticket to bansville.

Ok so now my curiosity is back up. Am I to understand that the 27% off was from the LEGO SAH website?

^ Yeah, there was a 27% chance it worked at [email protected] if you were one of the lucky 27% to know about it. And, I think that was only on the 27th of the month.

That is unless the item was: out of stock, then call for availability, then back in stock for 27 hours, and then when with only 27 left in stock they rung a cow bell and you got that set free. And, that's after you gave them the secret code. I think. Where did I write down the special 27% discount ritual? OK, I may be wrong about the cow bell. I think that's Chick-fil-A. Maybe it was a siren?

I'm not sure I could afford 2,000 polybags much less 2,000 GEs.

Wait so it does not work anymore, but at the same time a new power has created the not so majestic yet substantial 17% off? Or at least that is what your avatar hints at…
On the plus side 17 is a prime and 27 is just 3 cubed. Not that it really matters to anybody here other than you since we do not know the magic words.

now again the big question how to get 27% or 17% on exclusives :D
  • jadeirenejadeirene Member Posts: 474
    edited July 2014
^ I think 17% would be fairly easy to get for exclusives. ~9.1% back for double VIP, 2.5% back from a cash back affiliate site, 5% Discover card cash back. That equals approximately 16.6%. That's still 0.4% short of the 17%, but I'm not much of a reseller (I don't even have a Discover card), so I haven't really done my homework on how to maximize the savings, but I'm sure that if you look hard enough, you'll find that extra 0.4%.

Maybe those who said it will finally retire this fall will be right after all...
