^ Thanks for the heads up, I think that is a few dollars cheaper than it was a day or three ago...

Target has increasingly been interesting in some deals, and when price is the same, red card gives 5% more off than anyone else.

My only challenge with red card is that my purchase limits are fairly low, it takes a few days for them to reset, so that can suck when a good deal comes out.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
FB is dropping slowly, but steady, on Amazon... down to 78 of them...

Should we do a countdown here, or is this one worth an "official countdown thread"?
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
FB is still available at [email protected] (UK).

@LegoFanTexas, pay it cash at CS desk, it is reset right away. I once done two transaction back to back that max out my very low limit (was a new card) but with a cash payment in between.

    67 FB left at Amazon...

Does anyone else think we might be surprised by 10211 going out without warning this year?

It has been out of stock at Amazon for awhile, and frankly it seems like we have too many modulars...

    Thoughts?

^I have been worried about that, I really want it but don't have money to spend on one right now.
  • BrickarmorBrickarmor Member Posts: 1,258
Yes, I have considered that too. I'll be putting mine away until January, and if it's still around then I'll part em out. Same with 10229, just a longer wait. My other "what-if" is 10225, but I'm crossing my fingers that it lasts at least until May 4th.

I thought your experts told you that it was going to be around until late 2014.

Also you guys are forgetting that Target, Walmart, and [email protected] all have remaining Fire Brigade inventory. So until those retailers sell out any sort of Amazon countdown is frankly idiotic. Strangely, Target still carries GE but it's $160.

    1. They have been wrong before, in both directions.

    2. Even if they were correct 6 months ago, that doesn't mean TLG can't change their minds.

^^ wow did you have some sort of traumatic countdown experience? I think the whole countdown thing keeps it fun and lighthearted in here. Of course people know that there is other sets to be found, but the depletion of Amazon's stock, I would think, is a huge milestone.

Sure, the IS countdown was fun. But what is the point if every other major retailer still has inventory? I think we all pretty much know it's retiring in the near future.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
It's the one-two punch that I always look for. A) [email protected] sells out, B) Amazon inventory runs out. A countdown is always fun and it's been waaaaayyy too long since the last.

I dunno if this means much, but I noticed the following sets are listed as unavailable from Amazon:
    Horizon Express
    Grand Emporium
    Tower Bridge.

I would not be surprised. I thought it could go last year to be honest, plus again Amazon.com seems to have been out of the GE for a while now.

As for watching FB running out at Amazon.com, it is not idiotic because that is the 'frog' in this experiment. Once Amazon.com runs out then it is only a matter of time before panic buying starts at other retailers and then they are gone there as well (as Amazon.com still is the best price at retail due to free shipping and no taxing in most places)
Heck I have been tempted to get another FB and GE just in case, but I have other things to buy for Christmas at this point

75023 Star Wars Advent Calendar is listing as sold out on US [email protected] site. Does anyone know if the set is gone for good? I was hoping to grab one at a post-christmas sale or reasonable discount.

Sold out usually means sold out. LEGO could find more, but it is likely they are sold out as they are seasonal advent calendars. Which is strange as they are way too overpriced to begin with but maybe LEGO made less this year due to them having a lot last year. I would say check retail stores for any surplus, sales

SSD is also listed as call for availability
  • LobotLobot Member Posts: 1,029
Does anyone know what is happening with #75014? It's current showing as 'Sold out' in the UK, but it's a (relatively) new set....has it been discontinued?

Prior to two years ago, they underproduced. Last couple years they have overproduced. I imagine its not an easy call to make given the limited time to sell those things.

FB is down to 40 on Amazon...

That might or might not mean anything yet, after all, as has been pointed out, it is in stock everywhere else.

My local LEGO store is out and has been out for a few weeks, they of course claim that they aren't getting more and that it is going, but they said that the past two years, so that means nothing.

It is in stock, ready to ship, from [email protected] US site.

It has been out 4 years, it needs to go. :)

^ yes and 10188 too, maybe this week...
that would be a nice Christmas gift for everyone waiting to sell them after hanging onto them for the last three years or so when there was a panic and everyone stocked up
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
The really sad part... 10188 isn't going this year, from everything I've read and been told, it will stay until the next of next year.

    Boo! :)

FB is down to 35 left...

For the record, SSD and DS both show over 1,000 in stock...

Still plenty of these at TRU UK. Bought 2 for £54 recently, haven't opened them yet for my Hoth display.

yes #75014 is sold out, and has been for a week or so.
  • flyingpigflyingpig Member Posts: 119
yeah, the question is how many TRU has stockpiled for #75014
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Sold out doesn't mean retired... it could... but one doesn't have to follow the other...
  • Steve_J_OMSteve_J_OM Member Posts: 995
I hope it isn't gone, I have one but would have liked another couple before it went (for Hoth display ambitions rather than reselling). Having only come out this year that would be a pretty short shelf life.

  • luckyrussluckyruss Member Posts: 872
It would be the next in what feels like the trend of store exclusive sets that seem to have a shorter shelf life than others, so wouldn't be surprised if it was retired.

Although of course we can rely on TRU to stock most things after EOL, they have more than 100 online in UK.
  • flyingpigflyingpig Member Posts: 119
TRU put them on sale last week for $25 and had a TON. I'm guessing they have a lot left...
  • SuperTrampSuperTramp Member Posts: 1,021
Is the £90 at John Lewis the best price we are going to see on the FB. im thinking off buying 10 this morning but don't want to if its going to be around another year.

ha I wish I knew the answer to the FB question, as do many others. I seem to have been sat on my stock forever, could this really be the end?

The John Lewis deal at £90 is decent though, they have 267 left in stock.

My local Lego store in the U.S. had a "retiring soon" tag on the Battle of Hoth set when I stopped in last week. If it does indeed retire this year, that would be an incredibly short lifespan.

And that is only because they don't go to three digits in the drop down, you can place more than one order if you want 100+.
