I hate to use a car reference yet again, but the Edsel was a colossal failure, but now is highly collectible.

FB is also gone from Walmart.com...Target still has them at $119 but you have to search for them on the website

When the time comes, for some reason I don't think a FB countdown will be as fun as the IS was.

Not to beat a dead horse, but is this really it for Fire Brigade? I have it in my Target cart, but I just can't seem to pull the trigger. I only own one other modular and to be honest I'm not really excited about them anymore. I just don't want to kick myself a month from now.

Thanks @Bandit and @sidersdd. I think I like the SA best too.

Buy 2, stick them in the closet. In a year or two, if you really don't care, sell both. If you do, built one, sell the other, pay for the first.

    You really can't lose. :)

The modulars are what brought me back out of my Dark Age....When I heard that Amazon raised the price the first thing I did was check Walmart and was surprised to find it not even listed...I mean come on Walmart still has DA and the drop ship still listed....This could be the start of the end...I dont think it will make it till summer
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I was holding off on buying one since I figured I had a lot more time to go so I pulled the trigger and got one from Target...love that red card

And it's only out of stock/not available at this time.

Sorry folks, I don't think it wants to retire quite yet.

^ Couldn't one conceivably remove the technic support beams from the side of the fuel rockets of 10231?

Yep, you probably could. And make the top of the dark orange booster look like the one in 10213 at the same time by removing that extra row too.

IIRC, the "fix" for the hinge mechanism for opening the bay at the top results in a bigger, visible gap on the 10231 as well.

All things that if you bought the 10231 and had the instructions for the 10213 you could probably manage just fine.

FWIW, I didn't see this posted, but Joust is $89.97 at Walmart.com (25% off). I've submitted the price match to Amazon (I have a gift card I'd like to use there).

Keep an eye on Amazon.com (US) for HH, it is listed as sold by Amazon

Top of my wanted list for quite some time now.

  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
@sidersdd ...see there you go...my inability to navigate the Walmart website enabled you to find that deal on the Joust set....lol

I'm talking about the link on the product page where you can inform them you've found a lower price somewhere. Then you gotta wait and see if they actually change their price. It's not a guarantee price match.

Heh-heh, yeah, I just stumbled upon it somehow. I wasn't really seeking it.

For the Fire Brigade listing I just googled it, restricting the search to the walmart.com site by using the syntax:
    site:walmart.com
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I usually check Target and walmart everyday. I usually just search for LEGO then start with "highest price first"...then work my way down....Usually FB is right there with that big "$119" staring me in the face..
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
^So...The Fire Brigade. Please tell me that everyone already has bought all they need.

Back in stock on Amazon. Allows me to add 999 to the cart. She ain't gone yet.
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
Thanks for the heads up on Joust!!! Also submitted a price match request to Amazon. I think I'll sleep on it and then grab it in the AM from Walmart if Amazon doesn't match. Great price.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
My mother works at Walmart, so I may be able to grab this for and additional 10% off. Was there free shipping at Walmart.com?

Weird, 1st link shows as "Limited Stock" at my local Walmart, which is weird because I'm pretty sure I have never seen a modular there before. Now I may have to drop by and check tomorrow.

Walmart also has The Farnsworth House for $35:

Everyone try to get Amazon to price match it.

I have noticed some people comment that QAR and BP might have hurt the selling price of the IF. Would it then be likely that the upcoming LotR pirate ship will in turn hurt the resell value of the QAR and BP? I think the BP will probably hang in there since it is more iconic but I worry the QAR might take a sizable blow. Thoughts?

^To the average mom and dad buying for Johnny, yes. Unless money isn't an issue.

This is my moment of pause about BP and QAR and further uptick for IF. The LOTR ship lives for a couple years; followed by, let's say, wave 2 of POTC with more pirate ships. (And I'm just guessing on all of this, of course, especially the wave 2 thing).

If/when there is a window with no active ships, that's where you'll see the biggest jump in price.

    Couldn't find much about this...

What do you think about the Vampyre Castle? Is it going with the MF line or staying a bit longer like the Haunted House.

I don't have a single one of those yet, but there is a nice price on amazon.co.uk...

If you are going to go and finish the amazon ones please answer before you do ;)
  • bulletthelbueskybulletthelbuesky Member Posts: 8
Thanks for the responses on the Haunted House, guys. You pretty much confirmed what I was thinking, but I just wasn't sure. I can't think of any other similarly sized/priced sets associated with one of TLG's own "one and done" lines. And wasn't positive if it would have an extended shelf life like many other "large" LEGO sets.

Now, to wait for some kind of "Deal".

I would like to see a new "red baron" #10024 plane to go with the new Sopwith. Either will do extremely well once EOL'd.

Id like to see Lego make a Concorde model :)

A big red Baron would be great aswell, its a shame Lego has a strict policy on war as there are so many great planes they could make:(

Concorde would be great. They did a Red Baron about 10 years ago.

There is plenty of civilian aircraft they could do. Top of my list would be a huge hot air balloon.

^^They should add some lights to the blimp. Then it would be a "LED" Zeppelin.

If not official Lego light bricks, this company can help. http://www.lifelites.com/

I soooooooo want to build a UCS MF and add LEDs on the back and in the cockpit for display.

And what exactly would I be trolling??? Sorry, it was an honest story that I shared for insight. I didn't hurt anyone. And yes, it's not that strange to think of unborn children. Who wouldn't want to share a childhood favorite toy with their kids, and what better excuse at a 30-something to get back into legos...sheesh.

I must be a troll as well then having spent around £60,000 on lego in the last 2 years, half of which is being funded for the baby due this year. If they dont take to Lego at whatever age then I will use it as in investment for he/she's future education.

^Exactly. Much is mine is for an adoption we're in the process of. If anyone tells you Lego is expensive, try adoptions. That a whole different level of expensive.

I would say that FB is a good deal at 120, if not just for parts Im sure, but you could always buy one to reconfigure into other buildings.. I just cannot get myself to purchase anymore right now as I have a few and have bills to pay.

Also have re-iterate once again that just because Amazon lets you put 999 in the cart does not mean they have 999 in a warehouse.. If you try to check out the quantity will be corrected after the verification of a shipping address and even then it is subject to limits on the item, like it restricted me to buying 2 of the FB, even at 149.95..
Plus more often than not I get a max Quantity number when I try to ol' 999 trick

Funny, now that Amazon has them back to RRP I kinda feel like I missed out on getting a couple more...lol

I like the classic planes as well. Concorde would be great...I would like to see a larger F-16 or especially an SR71 Blackbird. The Sopwith Camel will do great when it EOLs in about 1-2 years. ;-)

As do I! I wanted to adopt a child in order to help someone in need, and at the same time avoid creating another person to inhabit the already over-populated planet. However, wife wanted our own, so we're having our own. We mutually agreed on one kid, so we probably wont be adopting. Oh well. Best of luck to you; the adoptive kid will be very lucky to be adopted into a Lego-loving family!

Regarding the military planes, that would be awesome. But I can understand and respect Lego's rationale behind not wanting to produce war-related sets. I agree with some others here regarding the Concorde- that could be a really cool model.
