Well, it seems that you should play all six levels before doing anything in a Adventure World, just finished E.T after beating the last four levels of LEGO Batman and it shows I got rule breaker like it's supposed to. Great job breaking your games TT.

I just presumed that TT games weren't very good at making games without glitches  :-)
I've been playing the TT Lego games since the first Star Wars one on PS2 and have played most of them through to the PS3 era.  Back when they didn't have the ability to release patches to fix mistakes and they weren't pumping out more than 1 title a year, their games really were pretty well polished.  Even when they first started out with games on the PS3, they were pretty solid.  It's when they started pumping out multiple titles a year across multiple platforms that their games started getting super glitchy, even after patches were released.  But yes, nonglitchy TT games might as well not have existed since you have to look back two console generations to find them...
I recall either LEGO Batman or The Indy game (or both) with glitches so this is nothing new IMO.

Tech support have just told me to delete all the data (except saves) from my Xbox and redownload everything...to hell with that.

Not surprising really, given the apparent lack of sales in the US and the need to dump all those packs for $1 each.  It's been nice to get figures from a few different IPs (especially ET).

Its a shame, but I was getting the packs more for the figures anyway.

Also, is Dimensions dead in the sense they are not making more figures/packs, or dead like everything is being shut off?

Just2good has been a reliable source for Lego rumours for years. However, after a little digging around courtesy of Google, he first started making posts alleging LD was dead (after Season 2) in December 2016. Normally his rumours have been confirmed a short while after he has released his "leaks". That has not happened in this case, and no-one else in the whole Lego/games community has been able to confirm his rumour, beyond speculation. With all due respect to Just2good, I won't believe this particular rumour until there is some independent confirmation.

For interest, there is a very recent thread about this on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Legodimensions/comments/5w0fng/regarding_recent_rumors/ but beyond Just2good's rumour, everything else in there is speculation

Gotta love how everyone's considered just2good as a reliable source on Lego and Lego dimensions for a while now, but the minute he says that Dimensions is dead everyone turns around and calls him a fraud (some people even said he's saying this just to benefit his YouTube channel... even though he hasn't made a video on this issue).

I personally hope he is wrong. I love this game. My hope is that if the game is dead (which I hope is not true) that it either resurfaces in a new form, or that Lego finds some other way to release small sets like this for licensed characters that cannot sustain a full line. We would never have seen Gremlins, or ET were it not for Dimensions and the game is fun to boot.

Should've been a bit clearer, I was mainly referring to the utter denial going on in other parts of the Internet (mainly the Dimensions subreddit and the Eurobricks thread), not specifically this topic right here.

Well Just2Good says Dimensions is dead, meanwhile another youtube personality has reported The Brick Show is reporting Year 3 will feature a James Bond pack. Make of that what you will.

Personally, since TT said three years I'm going to keep believing such, I really hope they aren't going to pull another Hobbit where they abandon plans to continue the game after a time and don't add the content from film three into the title as they said they would, but one never knows as The Hobbit shows precedence for plans being changed/abandoned.

I find it very hard to believe that LEGO would abandon Dimensions at this juncture though, especially after heavily promoting that it would be for three years and they wouldn't be doing like Disney Infinity.

I find it very hard to believe that LEGO would abandon Dimensions at this juncture though, especially after heavily promoting that it would be for three years and they wouldn't be doing like Disney Infinity.

What they specifically said was that unlike Skylanders or Disney Infinity, they intended to use the same starter pack for at least the first three planned years of the game. A lifespan of "three years" really wasn't promoted outside of that context—it was not a "promise" or "guarantee" that the game would last that long. Even if the game ends this year they have kept their actual "promise", that being that they wouldn't force players to upgrade to another starter pack.

As a side note, my brother pointed out that it might be possible that we ARE getting everything that was planned. Three years could mean three full yearly release cycles, but it could also be intended to mean 2015, 2016, and 2017—the three calendar years in which Dimensions packs have been released. Not saying that's necessarily what they meant, but it's food for thought.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,459
Here's another theory - notice that the connectables sets didn't get released or any images every surfaced? Perhaps the plan for Dimensions has been altered.
J2G's source might be saying all this Dimensions stuff has been cancelled which just refers to specific packs.

It is also possible that it's getting canned at the end of this run, seeing as we've potentially seen leaked images of Beetlejuice and Powerpuff Girls figs I'd like to be think we'll still get the last of the year two stuff.

As ever it's fun to speculate but we'll find out when an official announcement is made.

  • OdeinoichusOdeinoichus Member Posts: 361

If they meant three calendar years that would be a bit different, but since we only have enough stuff left for up to Summer for the final wave that would still leave a quarter of the year 2017 without anything.

There is however another possibility. LEGO Dimensions could be continuing with a third year of content, if the brick show's rumour is correct and a James Bond pack is due for the third 'series', but just2good is reporting that we're done with Dimensions, what if they've decided to make a LEGO Dimensions 2 with a new disc to work with the old toy pad with brand new content, a brand new adventure and a new storyline to follow.

Not sure if they'd include a PS3/Xbox 360 version of the disc though, but since the starter pack was originally made available for all I'd assume if a second adventure on a new disc were made in-place of the original planned three series on one disc thing it could be possible.

They may have run up against problems with adding more content and decided to scrap 'year 3' as add-ons only and decided that a new disc for the third installment of the franchise would be more practical.

We won't know either way what's going on until official sources reveal anything.

Yeah, since we got those factory leaks of the figures I'm guessing that they'll continue year two as planned and then stop straight after that. As for the connectables... yeah, they probably just got axed.

Also, I keep on seeing people use that "three years planned" quote as proof that year three will happen, but completely overlook the key word in that statement: planned. Planned doesn't equal promising to do a thing, it means "we've got ideas for three years of content depending on the sales". It's entirely possible that the team at TT had many plans drawn up for the third year, but had to abandon them once the sales figures came in and WB Games cut off development.

I think a precedent was set by TT Games with the Hobbit, when they did not release the DLC for the third film that was promised, because of poor sales. My impression is that Dimensions sales have not been poor, but it is very difficult to get any proper information on this. Note that ALL other Toys to Life games have been very heavily discounted in the USA previously, far less so in Europe, so it's not at all surprising to find Year one Dimensions packs being sold cheap over there.
A significant investment is required to make Level packs, far less to do Team or Fun Packs, as they only require an Adventure World making (and a small battle world now). I thought that more of the end of Season 2 packs would have been level packs, so this might suggest that TT games have reined in investment into the game. For my part, I very much hope that Dimensions carries on, as I have thoroughly enjoyed playing it, and it got me playing lots of other TT Lego games that I would never have considered otherwise. We shall have to wait and see.
As for Just2good, I continue to subscribe to his YouTube channel, and will carry on doing so even if he is wrong about Dimensions...

Definitely hope this is not true.  I thought Star Wars would finally make its way to dimensions after Disney cancelled Infinity.  That would be a big boost to their sales since the Lego Star Wars games seem pretty popular.

I gotta wonder though. Are the facts that the series 1 lines are heavily discounted mean that the Dimensions is not selling well OR that LEGO made wayyyy too many of each of the first series sets (at least the ones that could not be army builder packs or packs that you have collectors buying for the figures -like Doctor Who)?
A DLC is one thing, as you can tell how many people are downloading the content and buying the game, but the production of sets is another IMO. I think they guessed well over what the demand would be and it is biting them. To see this many stores having these packs for dirt cheap tells me LEGO just overproduced these.
Granted Im not complaining as I have an army of Cybermen thanks to the discounted packs, but maybe LEGO does need to look at the demand and adjust their productions nubmers a tad?
Also, 100 USD for a starter kit is silly, especially when many retailers constantly have had these on sale for 50% off (or more)

I agree, Star Wars & Disney characters/stories would give a massive boost to Dimensions, without the cost of creating a whole new game. They could market a relaunched Starter Pack for those wanting to start with the newer franchises, while still keeping compatibility with the original starter pack for those with it already. However, we have not heard any rumours at all about inclusion of Disney/Marvel/Star Wars characters in Dimensions, so I mustn't get my hopes up...

These types of leaks and rumor spreading would make Trump go crazy!

    ;)

back to Dimensions, I would like to see year three play out more for the figs than the game.
think they'd release part of the Powerpuff Girls line via Dimensions? Or maybe some Hanna Barbera?

If the Bond rumor is true, I'd like a few of them to capture the great Bonds: Connery, Moore, and Craig.

So how many of you can't access the Gremlins Cinema section? I've tried five times today to get in and it freezes on the load screen everytime, with all extras turned off, with no internet access, with only one character on the toy pad.

The next time they update better fix that or I won't be able to get the gold brick in there, TT and their notorious game breaking glitches, this is the first time on PS3 I've been afraid of not being able to 100% complete a portion of the game.

I've had a lot of crashes where the screen just freezes up and forces me to turn off my system to continue playing since the latest update, and since I got Marceline, I wonder if her toy tag has some kind of flaw in due to how many abilities she has which causes these issues???

@Shib I have the same problem. it seems it happens, whenever a place a tag on the pad.

on another note, has any one had the problems getting mini kits on certain level. ie ghostbuster level there is one behind some doors with a mind control person in there. tried all the characters that have mind control ability and the door doesn't open, I get the stud for the door opening.

also on the voyage of homer the part with the lighthouse, there is a mini kit that you have to get with the companion cube, but this just keeps going through the floor/dock?
  • drlmiles1drlmiles1 Member Posts: 194
^ In the Ghostbusters level, get the mind control insect (from recollection) to smash everything, then build it into a lego object - it creates a switch on the left, which the controlled character then pulls to get the brick

^^ I remember the same problem with the PS4 with The Voyage of Homer level (but not with the PS3). Taking characters and the companion cube on & off the toy pad eventually worked - make sure you travel properly to the area with Chell, rather than flying over there. From memory, I think I eventually stood in the right place to place the companion cube, then put it on the toypad, then picked it up and dropped it again.

I just want to mention that a 6GB update is beyond ridiculous.  I've had to clear out just about everything on a Wii U to download the content for the Batman Movie level.

Why not make the update an even terabyte, and sell me a Dimension-embossed SS hard drive?

This is why I bought a USB stick just for Dimensions on the Xbox. it's a bit insane but it's the downside of a single starter pack rather than a new one each year.

it's the same on a ps4 - 8-9gb download EVERYTIME they release an update, plus multiple downloads for the new content in year 2. it's very frustrating! many other games are able to check patches and download only missing stuff so i just dont understand why dimensions doesnt :(
