Is anyone else having a major issue trying to download the Lego Batman Movie Story Pack content on the PS3? All I am getting is a blue box with white lines in it and no option to start the download.
Same for me (but I also have it on PS4 and that downloads OK}. I was going to report it to Dimensions customer support tomorrow - the more people who do this, the quicker it will be sorted.

If they do go forward with Year 3 I think I would prefer a new disc to cut down on the needs for downloading and re-downloading all of the material ad-nauseum with each new release.

Also, if Knight Rider and Excaliber Batman are exclusive to certain stores in the US how does that affect Canada? I'd like to buy these packs, but Target left Canada and EB Games is more of a presence than its sister store Gamestop.

Have you tried ordering from US Target (especially with the current $10 off $50 promo) and have it shipped to you (or a friend in the US)?

I don't know what the .99c store's stock model is, but I've known discount stores in the U.K. that work by buying old stock from other retailers and particularly scooping up liquidation stock whenever a big name goes bust.

I think a lot of the excitement around Dimensions has gone down, but without someone showing me clear sales data (which frankly no one but TLG will have the full picture on) I see no reason to doubt the theme has done well enough.
One also has to remember that Lego (or TT) already made their margin on the product once it went to the primary retailer.  The discount store normally has to buy a wide variety of items at various markdown from the primary retailer to liquidate stock.  Most retailers want to avoid truly bargain-basement prices, or moreso having copious amounts of stock that don't move at retail price.

My guess is that these are Target and Wal-Mart surplus sets.  I'd expect the Disney Infinity to be similarly available for a limited period.

Yeah, I shouldn't have to order from a US retailer and rely on the kindness of others to get a figure for my collection. Everyone in the world should be able to get something at mass retail if it isn't some convention exclusive like Green Arrow.

So if LEGO Dimensions has limited the availability of this wave to only certain stores at launch I have to say that this could drastically affect how much longer I collect anything from this game, I've been all in for a while and hate giving that up, but if I have to jump through hoops to get mass retail items then I'm not about to waste time on something like that, especially if I have to pay scalper prices to get it after the fact.

  • jhuntin1jhuntin1 Member Posts: 53
I'm pretty sure that the retailer exclusivity is only for a short time. According to another fansite I visit, Excalibur Batman and the Knight Rider set are only exclusive until March 21.

That would have to suck, I know well about how bad scalper prices can get. Over here we almost never get polybags, let alone SH & SW ones, so I've had to fork out pretty nasty prices for some of the Marvel polybags. Hopefully the due to be released Dimensions packs will get wider release, not wanting to fork out big dollars for Knight Rider.

Canada has Michael Knight at EB Games as an EB Games exclusive, Excaliber Batman is apparently available in Wal-Mart stores, though most of the stores in my area are already sold out according to their online site except one that is way too far to get to by bus just for one item.

At least if they're retail exclusives to these stores in Canada we can still be guaranteed to get them. Although Marceline has been sold out at TRU stores for a while now and I still have yet to get her, not to mention for whatever reason LEGO's own store won't sell store exclusives online... which I suppose makes some kind of sense, but it does make getting these things more of a hassle than some of them are worth.

I guess we're kind of lucky in that regard, the AU [email protected] has all the retailer exclusive sets. Of course we have our own downsides with [email protected]: Apart from the brief crazy discounts for the last batch of Dimensions packs (story packs $15.99, team packs $12.99, level packs $9.99 & fun packs $6.99), we almost never get sales on anything, it's pretty much RRP til retirement & for us to get free shipping we need to spend over $200.

I'm just hoping with the first certified Lego Store that opened in Queensland recently the rumours prove false that they will be getting certain sets as exclusives for Australia (rumour also has it that the promos will be there instead of on [email protected] in future), because that store is a 22 hour trip, each way for us. If it were to be the case, I would have to question staying in the hobby.

Actually they did have them, just hadn't put them up yet I suppose for whatever reason, I guess. They weren't there on the 10th, but when I went back today to get the free polybag they had both sets available, picked up Knight Rider at EB earlier though so I just nabbed Excaliber Batman.

OUCH though on the qualifications for free shipping, and I thought TRU and Amazon upping it from 25$ to 49$ or 35$ respectively was bad, 200$ dollars for ruddy free shipping? You might as well just be buying it at retail, but the other retailers don't include VIP points.

Also that is just ridiculous, limit it to in-store only in a country with as much space as the Outback and the distances between folks living around there? Real smart LEGO, real smart.

Yep, not as bad as for the people in Western Australia, for them it's a 45 hour journey each way:

This is why when the "certified" Lego was announced & we were told on a few FB groups "you Aussies can quit your bitching now," most Aussies got irate. It's also why we roll our eyes when people bitch that a Lego Store is an hour's travel, it's too far away. We personally travel quite regularly to the Noarlunga TRU because they sometimes get stock our local stores don't get, with the new freeway it takes an hour, before that it was an hour & 45 minutes, in good traffic.

Hello Everyone, I am new here, not new to Lego BUT I'm new to Dimensions and with that said i got to rant to the like minded

When the game first came out i was all set to get everything at launch. I priced it out and was all set to go until i spent a little too much at NYCC that year so i said forget lego dimensions. I could have just got the starter and a few packs but my only child syndrome kicked in and i decided all or nothing. Then reviews came out and i picked the one negative i though and ran with it telling myself "no you don't want to do that" which was breaking down and having to build in the middle of playing. See, i thought you had to break down the gadgets every time you wanted to switch them, until i was wrong lol..... 4 weeks ago i was in TRU and i had it in my hand once again as the i kind of want this game started to creep up again but i wussed out... I went home and did more looking into it and read upcoming sets BEETLEJUICE. Now prior to having the game i purchased Stay Put and Mr.T and had plans on buying ET, Sonic and Gremlins just for the mini figs. I thought about he game for 2 days straight. Don't get me wrong I'm not a cheap person, I'm far from rich but i do buy most game on release but with dimensions it was the all or nothing with a commitment to keep it up until the run ends (happy i read 3 year plan!!). Finally i said I'm doing it. I figured if i only needed one IP to have their respective free roam level thats what i'd do. But i never thought i would get the deals i got and bang out the whole line with the quickness AND have somebody to enjoy the play thru with. Heres how it went down. Went to Five below just to check and got 6 Fun packs there for 5 bucks a pop. Ran to gamestop? They had everything 50 percent off so i got everything they had that i didn't. Ran to TRU across the street? BOGO 40% off so i cleared them out. I left needing only Jurrassic park, Golom, Fantastic beasts story, green arrow and super girl. Went home, Amazoned JP and Golom. Ebayed Green arrow, Then the next day best buy had Fantastic beasts story for 27.99 and then went and got the PS4 starter pack (i buy multi plat on XB1) for 50 bucks, took super girl and gave the starter to a friend (who loves it now too) for 20. This was 3 days before Batman movie, Knight rider and Excalibur Batman came out so i had new stuff to look forward to off the rip..... I couldn't believe how much i legit LOVED the main story and I'm really hoping they continue it. I have loved anything cross over since i was a kid. I cant wait to see the future of this game and pray every night lol for star wars and marvel. I just really cant get over the amount of content this game has and i did nothing but smile the whole time i played thru the main story. I still only went back and did 2 story levels, 1 from each of the 3 story pack levels and 1 story from each vorton and the shard 100%. Still have all the free roam worlds aside from 2 to get into and reserved all the may stuff already.... This game also got me into Adventure time because i bought the packs without ever watching the show and before i played i watched a few episodes from season 1 and to my surprise one of the episodes i watched was done in dimensions. I dono i couldn't believe the deals i got, how much i absolutely fell in love with the game (even though i extra late to the party) and all the little details from Venkman spinning around looking during his slow walk speed to finding bedrock and Dr. who (which i also want to get into now because of dimensions) having all the doctors. This is also my first post here and I'm glad i signed up.... Man, Nexo Knights gotta eventually come to right? I got spoiled getting all this content at once and now i just wish there was releases more frequent but i still got a lot to bang out with what i have. Such a cool game worth every penny.

Amazon seems to be doing a sale on varying Dimensions packs, a notable being the Portal one for just under 10 dollars.

While waiting for update to download I laid out all my character discs by franchise, I don't own everything but I have a lot and I think it gives an interesting overview of IP use:

(Excuse the naff tray, it's been used for various craft projects and has paint splodges here and there- also the 4 with the figs still on are newest additions.)

seems DC is the heaviest used IP (not surprising given WB involvement) but also feels like this year so far has been more reliant on single characters from franchises.

Yes, a thousand times yes, I would PAY them to give me an a brand new disc with everything on it to avoid having any more nonsense.

Also I'd love to know what's up with all this corrupt data nonsense? I've been playing this game for a while now, since day one of release almost, and I haven't had a single corruption of my file. Are people just really shutting this off without closing the game first? Or is there some really big game breaking glitch I haven't come across yet due to my using the PS3 for it???

Or maybe it's how the toy pad is situated, remember they tell you not to place it on a metal surface.

  • sonatine01sonatine01 Member Posts: 782
@Odeinoichus I had my first proper data corruption a couple of days ago on the PS4. I turn it off properly and the toy pad is placed on wood  as it always is. I've no idea why it happened but I've yet to have a Lego game that hasn't had major glitches and far worse ones than any other game I've ever owned !

I just presumed that TT games weren't very good at making games without glitches  :-)
  • drlmiles1drlmiles1 Member Posts: 194
I lost a whole month of gameplay on the PS4 to a save game file corruption, and it happened after a game crash as I was playing. I now save the save game file to USB very frequently, as I cannot bear to have to start the game from scratch again. Interestingly, although I have had a very occasional crash on the PS3 (I originally had the game on PS3), I have never had game corruption on that system.

i'll say the current results on my ps4 is unsatisfactory. completed 2 more lego batman movie story levels and the game crashed shortly after going through a checkpoint. another case logged with their help desk and i expect a crappy email telling me to delete cache and game data (not save game) and restart console, etc etc etc. one day they might acknowledge how unreliable and inconsistent their game code is... wont be any time soon though!

@Odeinoichus i've had this a few times on my ps4. it's irritating but fortunately this time i only lost about an hour's worth of game play and i remembered to make a copy before playing.

it's the only lego game i've ever had a problem with. it's, also, only been a problem since the year 2 content dropped, but it's now happening with almost alarming regularity. i want to make the choice of how i replay the level, not have it made for me because the save game became corrupt!

Man, I certainly hope I don't lose any data with my save file, but who knows. I haven't had any file corruption at all with my PS3, aside from the numerous times the downloads wouldn't finish because of the time out error.

I really hope nothing screws it up, because that's a lot of progress to redo and I'm not in a position to back-up any files at the moment.

Incidentally, has anybody else had Rule Breaker not indicate that you got it when you did? For two of the Year 2 Adventure Worlds I got Rule Breaker and the Gold Bricks, but the Computer/Level Select Area says I still need to get it despite the gold brick count for that world being right.

I've been playing the TT Lego games since the first Star Wars one on PS2 and have played most of them through to the PS3 era.  Back when they didn't have the ability to release patches to fix mistakes and they weren't pumping out more than 1 title a year, their games really were pretty well polished.  Even when they first started out with games on the PS3, they were pretty solid.  It's when they started pumping out multiple titles a year across multiple platforms that their games started getting super glitchy, even after patches were released.  But yes, nonglitchy TT games might as well not have existed since you have to look back two console generations to find them...

Idetermined a few months ago that a significant factor in causing crashes was playing with Supergirl (definitely) or Green Arrow (probably). If you play with either character on the PS4, backup your game very frequently.

Yes, I've had this often, more on the PS3 rather than the PS4. It seems to trigger particularly if you get Rule Breaker in the Adventure World while playing through a Story pack (which puts you in the Adventure World in between each level of the story pack.

Huh??? but Knight Rider isn't part of a Story Pack? Wait, is this because I haven't beaten The LEGO Batman Movie yet? I played the first two levels and then decided to tackle some other adventure worlds, so I have to actually finish the six levels of the Story Pack and that should correct the problem??? Man what a ridiculously idiotic reason for a game glitch.

I have sometimes seen this happen with single level packs, but never (so far...) with a Fun pack. Sounds like TT games have extended the "feature" to other parts of the game :-)

The Loot Crate item will most likely be either the Supergirl or Green Arrow poly - most likely Green Arrow.
Got my loot crate today, it was just the Bad Cop Wave 1 set. Bummer.

Exactly why I see the monthly mystery box subscriptions as pointless. The combined value of the box might have a greater RRP than the price you paid but it's almost always more than you'd pay for the bits that you'd really want.

I already have a subscription to Loot crate before this months so I was going to get it regardless. I mostly get them for the T-shirts that come in them, curious to see if everyone gets a bad cop or if they vary it between boxes.

Bricks to Life says it is one of five random Wave 1 Fun Packs. I'll report what I get when I get mine.
