Amiibo are are the only toys that are read by the Wii U controller. Also the 3DS had a wireless amiibo reader unit that can be bought separately.
As I said I've not seen anything about Dimensions being released for Switch, but I see no reason why it wouldn't get a Switch release.
As soon as my son saw the Raven picture come up he was a little bit excited ! So yeah I reckon we're in the same boat as you guys :-)

Also, there are a couple of images of the next build combinations, like Knight Rider. Finally, TLBM Batman is exclusive to Target and Knight Rider is exclusive to Gamestop. :) hope this helps.

So far, I got Homer Level Pack, Portal 2 Level Pack, Bart Simpson Fun Pack and few more
Most people mention they saw Chima, Lego Movies and Simpsons
Oh, and to save you any trouble...
...don't say that around anyone from Eurobricks as most of them are in the most childish denial I have ever come across on this fine internet. They have absolutely no sense of how these sort of things work.
I think some of them will be in tears should they find out this game is dead (hypothetical) and most importantly (apparently) that there would be no more Doctor Who packs to make the game "better" (as apparently that's all that matters).
i think the difference for year two is because there is still a lot of year one stuff available- first year they needed a lot of characters available to boost the roster.
Personally im still hoping for more Hana Barbera stuff - a couple of Wacky Races packs would be very welcome and really fit the game style!
Also I don't know how true this is in other countries but in the U.K. the video game market basically runs by having a high launch price and discounting fairly quickly to get more out of those that just can't wait for a discount
I'd be more surprised if year 3 was cancelled than year 4 being announced. I think there will jut be more strategy to production numbers - year one was always going to be a testing ground for that.
All three Simpsons, Bart, Krusty Fun Pack and Homer Level Pack
All three Lords of the Rings Fun Packs
All of the Lego Movies set ( only get Benny and Unikitty)
Back to the Future Level Pack (didn't see the doc Fun Pack)
Portal 2 Level Pack
Dr Who Level Pack
Some of the Chima Fun Pack (only saw two for me)
Ninjago Fun and Team Pack
Jurassic World Team Pack
Scooby Doo Team Pack (never see it myself)
Chima - Eris, Cragger (haven't seen Laval)
Ninjago - Zane, Nya, Wu, Team Pack, Jay (? can't remember if I've seen him)
Lego Movie - Emmet, Bad Cop, Benny (haven't seen Unikitty)
and all the ones he mentioned except I haven't seen Scooby, JWorld, BTTF level nor fun pack
What's weird is the DC Super Heroes are not part of these shipments: WW, Cyborg, Aquaman, Superman...I didn't expect Bane, Team Pack to be part of it since they're newer.
But let's just see if you can get your hands on one yourself.
With these limit restrictions, I can only imagine that it's going to be easier to get some of the harder packs.
Had hope to find Back to future ones...no luck, but that's ok.
So will there be a Dimensions 2? Maybe. The development costs have got to be incredibly appealing. There can't be very much new tooling money, game development costs would be easier to manage as the games are not breaking tremendous ground...I dunno, might happen, be interesting to see.
How many times have people posted to the effect of "China was a flop because the sets were constantly reduced " while ignoring the fact that City (one of LEGO's biggest sellers) sets are almost always available at significant reductions too.
I don't know what the .99c store's stock model is, but I've known discount stores in the U.K. that work by buying old stock from other retailers and particularly scooping up liquidation stock whenever a big name goes bust.
I think a lot of the excitement around Dimensions has gone down, but without someone showing me clear sales data (which frankly no one but TLG will have the full picture on) I see no reason to doubt the theme has done well enough.
