Thanks again  :) please excuse my ignorance , so the 20 minifigures and a couple of ghosts is the complete set?
  • TarDomoTarDomo Member Posts: 515
Only happy to help :) Which set you mean?
  • rampantsullyrampantsully Member Posts: 76
The Monster Fighters mini figures. I have just finished collecting the Simpsons minifigures and was looking for a new set to collect, as i don't have room for the Monster Fighter sets as much as i like them, i thought id go for the figures.

Okay, so a simple answer to your question is: That´s it all.  :)

I'd suggest you try BrickLink as well.  I've found that most minifigures tend to be cheaper there than eBay.

thanks for that jadeirene, have set up a bricklink wanted list  :)

Hi @rampantsully. I never noticed that the ghosts aren't listed in the monster fighters minfig category before (it must be due to their not being exclusive to the monster fighters category maybe).

Anyway, if you check the Monster Fighter sets category on the main site, link:

    http://brickset.com/sets/theme-Monster-Fighters

You'll notice that the ghost appeared in two sets, haunted house #10228 , ghost train #9467, plus one polybag #30201. Clicking the individual set pages, you'll further discover that the haunted house set gave the ghost white brick pieces to fill out the ghostly shroud piece, whereas the train set gave them white minifig legs. The polybag used a brick but also came with a ball and chain. I guess you can take your pick which ghost style you prefer, or make one of each.

There was also a halloween minifig set #850487 , which while not specifically monster fighters, came with a witch, ghost, and brown-suited zombie (which i believe is unique to that set, so a nice addition to any burgeoning zombie-horde).

...uh, how odd. The brown suited zombie from the halloween accessory set makes a sole entry into the brickset monster fighters theme figs listing, whereas the ghost doesn't, despite actually appearing in the range in two/three styles (as well as the accessory set).

One for the database people to look at, perhaps.

Thanks for that legomatt, i'm relatively new to the world of minifigure collecting so any info is more than welcome, i actually have the 850487 set. I joined bricklink on the advice of jadeirene, all of the figures are on there except the Zombie Bride (not in the UK anyway) and i couldnt find it on ebay either.

#850487 is a good set, the brown suit zombie is an alternative to buying the CMF one, plus if you don't yet have the CMF witch, you can knock two off your list. The tombstone construct is also a good addition to any Halloween dioramas.

I don't mean to sound "snarky" (that must be the the official forum word), but you can't just "knock 2 CMF's off your list" if they are not CMF's from Series 1 and 2. I know what you are saying, but either you have them or you don't. The Halloween Accessory set won't replace those 2 minifigures.

I know exactly what you mean @Pitfall69,  I won't be marking off the CMF zombie on BS unless I buy one, but for now, the zombie in #850487 is good enough for our house's Halloween display (its pretty much a recolour of the CMF zombie). As for the witch, it is the same one as the CMF (bought one before I saw the set), but when I sell my CMF witch, I will be unticking that box, as the witch I'm keeping came from the Halloween Accessory set...

Ahhhh yes, for a Halloween display, I have no problem with that at all. I guess I may have misunderstood you previous comment :)

Yeah, unless its the actual minifig or set, I couldn't bring myself to mark it off on brickset. Even if TLG did a few more sets like #850487, but like a space theme, robots theme, wild west theme, even if they were the exact same minifigs, I personally wouldn't be marking off the cowboy, robot, or any other CMFs I don't actually have as CMF released figures... Others can count a bricklinked set as, they have that set, but I won't.

We're only really collecting some of the CMFs so we can have holiday displays/dioramas in our house (the space ones, well that was my favourite theme as a kid). We have most of the ones we're after for Halloween, although I still want a Monster Fighters swamp monster to add the group.

Just a quick question are these on eBay correct

Just it seems to be a good price for both.

    @rampantsully
The description says it is a custom cape but the hair on Lord Vampyre is wrong and there is no printing on his legs so I'd assume the worst.

There will also be a CMF line of Halloween figures this fall that you may be interested in.

Thanks for that scrumper, I'm new to the Monster Fighters so appreciate the info. KiltyONeal said:

Will these be available in the UK

Not to confuse things too much, the Ghost shroud was available with the Build a Minifig for a period of time. Since the rest of the parts are very generic (white legs, white torso, and black stud for a head), he was easy to multiple.

Am i right to assume that the Brown Suited Zombie from the halloween accessory set (850487) didn't actually appear in the Monster Fighters Sets?

    ^Correct.

You can knock the witch off, so long as you get a display tile/plate. She is identical to the CMF, made in the same factory.

Interesting, I could have sworn there was a printing difference between the 2 of them. The face and the belt buckle. In fact, I believe I presented the difference when the set was first released.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
There were obvious differences in the box artwork (including the colour of the hands) and I seem to remember discussion of a face dimple. When compared side by side I could never spot any differences though.

However, some of the face prints in the Halloween set were quite variable in density (I had about 25 of them). Some of the little marks around the face were quite deep black, some barely there.
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
The print on my CMF witch's torso & dress is slightly paler & the gold is a little washed out, but apart from that the two looked identical, one of my wife's friends collects CMFs & the two witches she has look the same as my one from the Halloween pack... Could it have been they were meant to be different, but someone at TLG goofed? Like when doing an extra run of Halloween packs, pulled up the graphics files for the CMF not the Halloween pack version?

^ I think that is probably just normal variation in print density.

HH. The price on it still amazes me and by the time next Halloween hits I can only imagine.
