Huh, I wonder how they managed to get someone who actually knows something about what's going on? I talked to several representatives earlier today and got nowhere.
Fingers crossed for release today as I actually have to work tomorrow and won't be able to spend all day refreshing the Target app like I've been doing today.

I'm on Target.com on my computer and get 5 hits with the search "Lego Darth Vader". Is that what the rest of you are seeing?

Yep same exact.  It doesn't appear to be live on their website just yet.

Target also has a SW Celebration Funko exclusive that will probably launch tomorrow morning with the Vader set. I have very little confidence the Vader bust will go online today but never say never. 🤷‍♂️

I'm taking it with a grain of salt but rebelscum posted an update about an hour ago which reads in part:
In a slight calendar adjustment from the original release date of April 11th, this commonplace retailer will have these available from April 15th. The set will be available to REDcard members and can only be ordered through the Target website when it gets posted next Monday.

As a UK collector I’ve tried my hardest for this.. I’ve even a good UK friend now working in the O&G industry in Houston, and he kindly said he will get a Red card.. he got turned down for the Red credit and then debit card due to his social security number (he is on a contract in the US). you have to laugh, and cry.. :)
    ebay here we come.

Anyway it’s now listed at Target online, hope there are plenty.

My app shows it'll be available today.

Geeze. I feel sorry for you Star Wars fans. Reading through the comments here, this looks worse than hitting up Hasbro and Mattel after SDCC. At least there you know the date well in advance. :/

Anyone know if it’s actually already sold out?  I imagine it’ll say Coming Soon after it sells out, too. What a missed opportunity.
  • PyrobugPyrobug Member Posts: 179
I'm sure it hasn't gone on sale yet. I've been all over Reddit threads about this and everyone is still waiting. If anyone's been able to purchase them, they're not talking.

I placed two orders. Hopefully one doesn't get cancelled.

Just ordered one. I've had this REDcard for 6 years and I don't know that I've ever used it until now.
  • CaptainRogersCaptainRogers Member Posts: 869
    Eh, in for one.

It says right on the page 'one per Red Card' - you better hope they don't cancel both.  That happened a LOT during the great scramble for the NES and SNES Classics - people thought they were cheating the system and ended up getting screwed

People placed multiple orders for TLM2 Brikheadz and didn't have any trouble.

True story. How do you think there were so many people trying to trade Benny and Sweet Mayhem for Emmet and Wyldstyle?

That promo was a limit 2 not 1, if I remember correctly. I’m pretty sure that’s how I got an extra. Not that it did any good since I was too late to the trading table.

For brickheadz, you could increase the quantity in a single order, which is what I did. This is different. Buyer beware.

What a colossal cluster f**k. They tell you it will go live on the 11th. People are waiting all day refreshing their screens and then NOTHING. Then, a website says that they will go live on the 15th. Then it goes live at 9:00 today!!! It was either done on purpose or "they" really messed up.
  • norm103norm103 Member Posts: 302
Did Target ever say them self that it was going live on the 11TH or was it just rumor?  Target has been launch all the exclusives and limited addition stuff on Friday’s at 9am est for the most part.
  • LegoTTLegoTT Member Posts: 487
Dang it! I refreshed all day yesterday and then gave up hope today when I heard the 15th. Ugh.
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,241
I'm now actively ignoring this nonsense.  This really is a ridiculous manner to release (presumably) low-production sets.  I have to admit I stumbled upon the TLM2 Brickheadz releases, but I'm not wasting my time on this type of release moving forward.

Are these things numbered?  Even if they are, it wouldn't surprise me if they showed up elsewhere if there really is high demand for them.

Rebelscum said the date was changing to 4/15. So, I'm hoping that on 4/15 there are more offered. As long as there aren't any printed parts, should be easy to Bricklink, but that box art is pretty nice and would be pretty awful to miss out on that.

Apparently all the pieces are available at https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacementparts/sale and someone priced it out and it was about $11 more than MSRP (~$51 not including the box and instructions, of course - just depends how much you want to pay eBay prices)

Thanks for that info. I forgot to look into the replacement parts available through Lego. It's what I'll do if this becomes a debacle.

There was no limit on Emmet and Wildstyle at Walmart. Benny/Mayhem were limit of 2 but you could place orders over and over again.

Must have been a YMMV situation at Target. I ordered and got 2 of each. 20 minutes later tried to order 1 more of each and order was denied.

I left a review at Target that will undoubtedly go unpublished, pointing out that the Vader Bust was released a day late, not even on the site at 9:00am and sold out 2 hours later. And that it appears that the only people who got them were Target IT staff so they could resell them on eBay.

A bit far-fetched, yes, but it's the only way I could think of to voice my displeasure to Target. May not help anything, but it felt good for a minute.

^2 hours is generous. They were gone a little over an hour after going live. Yes, they appeared briefly here and there, but ultimately they sold out in the first hour +/_ a few mins.

I don't believe Target ever released a day or time in which this set would be released. In fact there are numerous responses by @AskTarget stating that they had no release information.

8am CST releases are consistent with other exclusives they have done. Their exclusive Jigglypuff Amiibo, Daisy Amiibo and POP! Figures seem to have always been released at 8am CST. I cannot speak for the exclusive Brickheads because I did not have a REDCard at the time.

I am no fan of Target or Wal-Mart, but I am a fan of rational thinking. I do agree that accusing their IT staff of scalping them on eBay is far-fetched.

Offered only to REDcard holders........nope, don't need the card or waste of my time online refreshing the site to order online.  Rather pay the extra to get on the third party sites.

Redcard only aside, what I find hard to understand is that they start a promo like this at 8am on a weekday, when many people, except for many toy resellers, have an 8am-5pm job where waiting for some sale to start online is frowned upon by pretty much every company out there.
I'm glad I'm not a die hard SW collector (or brickheadz collector for that matter) or I would be a bit pissed as well.
It seems that, at this point, only a random lottery is the best way to ensure everyone has an equal chance to get these rare promos instead of who has the best luck or fastest internet connection.

Even worse, 8am Central or Eastern, and basically completely unannounced.  Can't think of a better way to screw everyone who lives in the west.
