[US] Target Deals

No giftcard promos on LEGO this week but I noticed something from the receipt on another such deal. It seems that a discount is applied proportionally to applicable items with the giftcard at face value. This explains the cost of each item, perhaps useful for accounting reasons if buying different kinds of things. Sales tax wasn't applied to the giftcard, helping determine purchase total now.

That’s in case you return an item, I believe. You would only get back the item price minus the proportional discount.

Unless you’re Barnes and Noble: if you spent $75 and got the HP set, you have to return everything else with it.

presumably because their system is unable to calculate the prorated costs.

the guy at the registrar has to write it on the receipt.
he said it was a LEGO company thing.

Yeah they have to make sure manually that the cost was still over$75, I was able to return a $10 set I had bought towards it but it took them 5 minutes tp decide that I could, they couldn't figure out if $86-$10 was still over $75...

Seems to now work for in-store, order pickup, or drive up if you order through the app.

I think it depends if you have a debit or credit redcard.

I think Cartwheel works with all payment types.

Bean There Donut That is listed at $14.99 online, versus a $19.99 price tag in store. Assuming it actually scans at $19.99, 25% (price match to) online is superior to 20% cartwheel, cartwheel fine print says it can't be combined with price match (but can be used with order pickup or drive up as @MugenPower points out)

#75204, #41350, #41456 are the other sets 20% off cartwheel and are listed at MSRP online

I've been waiting for #60202 better than 20% off - that's still the sale price, but the $10 giftcard promo and using my 10% off gift card from the 3rd makes it about 42% off. (added 5 Harry Potter CMFs to reach $50)

First time ordering discounted items from target.com; do they all come with labels/stickers? I'm guessing just in case you make a return, you get the discounted price you paid?

#31077 interested me as a cute food themed set, and 20% off plus giftcard deals got me to pull the trigger. I especially like LEGO pizza and though I wasn't a huge fan of #60150 $12.99 price matched online plus these deals got me to get the 3 available in store for parts. Might get some more online. Got some Harry Potter CMFs to reach $50

Target has #75230 Porg for $55.99 plus the gift card.

I had ordered it a month ago, where I got them to sort of price match it to Amazon - it ended up being $65.11 after red card and tax plus the gift card getting me $10 back made it $55.11 essentially. 

I'm still likely to return/rebuy though. I've already used the gift card, so I assume I'm only getting that $55.11 refunded, but I can order this one, get the red card discount and another gift card, and still end up ahead.

Thanks Todd. That's what I was afraid of. I know I shouldn't complain. I ended up getting Joker Manor for $193.79 after 5 of the $10 gift cards but I really like the looks of that box and would like to hang onto it. Oh well.

I received the set in great condition. It was shipped in a custom box made to fit this set.

Pretty much. My regular UPS guy knows to put deliveries in a certain location on my porch as it's the only place that stays dry when it rains and is not visible to the street. 

...the Christmas backups are unaware of said location...

Happy to help supplement the addiction of others so I don't feel as guilty! :) I'd have grabbed that bomber for sure if I didn't have one already. But I was quite happy with some of those 60% off battle packs! I considered a few Buildable figs... Perhaps later in the week.

Target's online store has #75202 Defense of Crait for $47.60 (about 44% off) if you add it to your cart. 

Just a note, our local Targets wouldn't price match it because it was a 'see low price in cart' sale. Your results will probably vary if you try.

Weird. I wonder what’s different about that one. I had no problem getting two different targets to price match two of the sets in @CaptainRogers list above.

Seems stupid. You're there, in the store, willing to buy... and they won't let you? I'd buy it from someone else just because I'm that stubborn and contrary.

The difference is that it's listed as a 'see low price in cart' sale. So the online price isn't actually published. The deals that @CaptainRogers posted have their price published online without the necessary step of adding the item to your cart.  

I don't understand why they didn't just price match it either though. A month or so ago they refused to price match BJ's Wholesale Club for us too, despite one being 2, maybe 3 miles down the road. I just stood there thinking "You realize we're just going to drive the 2 to 3 miles down the road and buy it there instead, right?"

I shouldn't complain too much though, UPS lost a package of mine I ordered on Thanksgiving. Target was quick to refund one of the items, ship a replacement for the other, and also tossed me a $10 gift card completely out of the blue.

That is silly, especially since you can order online for store pickup.  One walmart actually made me place an online order for pickup instead of just price matching.

I've placed an online order for store pickup at the Customer Service Desk at both Target and Wal-Mart because they wouldn't price match their own website.  Ridiculous.

(I will say Target got the pick order while I was standing at the desk.)

TRU, on the other hand - they used to price match advertised clearance items from websites I'd never heard of.

The Target items that were listed "see low price in cart" were also "not eligible for store pickup".

When the local Target's computer system would not allow them to price match to a TRU 2/$5 minifigure sale, the rep at the customer service desk let me order online for the price match on a bunch that I had sifted through. YMMV.

All three Walmarts near me dropped their price match policy. Their reasoning was "It will allow us to bring you lower prices!" which never actually materialized. Meanwhile, Target will price match just about anything, and then give me an extra 5% off of that price. 

Also, as @datsunrobbie indicated, none of those items were eligible for in store pickup, at least in my area.

Cartwheel has 30% off Brickheadz and Constraction sets, and it works with sets that are marked down already.

Cartwheel has 20% off the sandspeeder and bean there donut sets.  Speeder comes to about $16 and bean there $12.  Add the cartwheel and do the store pickup to get the discount.

Did they just re-add the Cartwheel coupon for #75204 Sandspeeder today? 

I feel bad, because my wife used the same coupon on the set for me for Christmas a couple weeks ago but it was still full price then, so ended up being $23.99. When she used the coupon it had an expiration date on it. Of course the flip side is if she hadn't, there wouldn't be any left around here right now.  She bought some other stuff to get the gift card too though, so returning it would be an absolute hassle (especially as she's used the gift card already). I guess this is what we get for trying to not be last minute shoppers.
