Just found 70191 on a clearance rack tagged at 30% off.  Rang up at 50% off.
Sorry, but #70191 doesn’t seem to be a real set number.

Yep, sorry.  I did mean #70919.

And the price was 50% off Target's elevated $34.99 price, but still, at $17, its much more palatable than the $29.99 RRP

Should the sale price be showing up on the Target Brickseek site?  Just curious.  Every Target near me is showing $29.99...

That just means none of the stores near you have it at that price.

Quake mech is $44.98 at some targets.

Rather than the Braniac Attack version. #76040

    Or the Dimensions version.

    Or DC Superhero Girls.

You are correct-the Brainiac thing threw me off.

Weird they dropped that to clearance before trying RRP for a while. Target doesn’t do the TRU style markup much, but they did it on the #31066 Space Shuttle, and then reduced it to RRP after a couple months. I think Walmart had 31066 at higher than RRP too. I wonder why that particular set was treated differently.

I looked yesterday at two Targets in Dallas and neither had that price.  I did find a Classic Policeman so it wasn't a total waste of time.

My Target is State St in downtown Chicago (across the street from my office) so I've found that shelf prices can tick higher on certain items.  CMFs are usually $4.99 at this location.  Doesn't seem to be much pricing consistency at this location vs other Targets in the city, but occasionally you get lucky on an anomaly like this.

^I thought that's where you got it. Checked brickseek and the only store in my area that had it for that price was State St. Guess I know who to blame now when they're sold out on good deals now. ;)

Those center city stores sometimes have higher prices, I guess. Captive audience, or just higher rent maybe. The LEGO store at Rockefeller Center in NYC had significant markups on a lot of stuff.

Given the sales tax in Cook CO, are there really any 'good' deals there?

Think they're referring to Cook County, IL.  Chicago resides in said county.  I believe it's the second most populous county in USA. Lots of criminal history associated with the area including a very sordid political one.

Dimensions are most likely at your local Goodwill.

not bad prices but still a little higher than 75% clearance and a Target red card.

dare I call it the Goodwill tax?

  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,567
Glad I grabbed my starters at $9.04 last week. Gave one to the niece and nephew. I think my nephew was more excited about the great deal than the game itself, but he was having fun with it when I left Saturday night.
BTW, Walmarts near me seem to still have some supply, but with varying prices.

@Onebricktoomany we call it crook county because of all the crooked politicians and the fact they tax everything even shopping bags for a nickel a piece and they were looking to add a sugar tax to pop but that thankfully got repealed

Out here in the West, the bag tax was not to swindle buyers out of their hard earned money as much as it was to 1) change shoppers' habits (more people are bringing reusable bags - paper and plastic - to stores instead of just stockpiling and discarding plastic bags at home and 2) change the bag manufacturers and suppliers to use more responsible materials (biodegradable) or provide stronger, more durable resuable ones.

...and it isnt really a bag tax anyway, the money stays with the vendor, nothing goes to the government

ran into the same "Goodwill Salvage" prices in my part of Minnesota. Seems $15.00 Target clearance price has translated into $24.50 price at Goodwill for the starters.

Its the same here in Chicago.  People just like to complain, haha

A disposable bag charge makes more sense than an outright ban, as a way to combat environmental problems while still leaving bags available when useful.
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,246
I use disposable bags made from chinchilla and baby harp seal hides.

^Even though they are disposable, it is still an environmentally responsible choice considering they're made using renewable resources.

I should mention that they are zombie chinchilla and  re-animated baby harp seal hides - so they're doubly renewable.

Infected chinchilla are not renewable since they must be incinerated as a biohazard.  We are taking your word that they are indeed zombie.

Had to run into Target to get my niece a birthday gift and saw the Batman Tuxedo Keychain on the clearance aisle for $1.78.  Last week there were tons of Groots and they're now gone and only 4-5 Batman keychains and now there's 40-50.  Brickseek says they're still $5.99.

looks like I might have to swing by the local Target. Been waiting for the Tux Batman to go down.

The app scanner or scan stations scattered throughout the store often miss stuff that the registers or staff scanners do identify.
Saw the Lloyd poly for $1.48, bought all 34
Also a #10836 marked as is for $41.96 - 30% off. Small hole in the box, but looking through that it seemed like everything was there. got it because I figured I could do something with it, whether part out or leave for toddler guests.

Groot keychains are gone in my area, managed to snag a couple of Tux Batmans, might try removing the Keychain part this week and see how that goes. Just want the Tux for reasons. Did see a couple of #66559 on the Clearance aisle, not my theme though.

Yeah, check out how to remove keychains from LEGO figure on youtube, there are some rather brute force methods, including heating the chain stud in the head with a flame. Supposedly there is a way to remove the keychain studs from the figure with a soldering iron (am going to try that with the groot keychain). I did it with the flame and melted the cowl ears, but since those are easily replaceable I did not mind. Got some standard black capes from LEGO and now have a Tux 'figure' (though the hole in the top of the head can still be seen when you remove the cowl)

I was able to remove the keychain from my Kiss Kiss Batman with a household stick lighter and brute force.  Melted the cowl, but the head was undamaged other than the hole left behind.  Luckily the TLBM series left me with more than enough spare cowls.

28 Kiss Kiss Tuxedo Batman for $1.78
A few dozen CMF s18 bags - I don't check for a day or two and I miss them. Some mixed with other CMF in toys, some by themselves near registers. No Policemen of course, but I got a few decent ones, redcard discount really helps for figures I'm on the fence about (as usual for CMF)

So I saw on brickseek that my local Target had the Kiss Kiss keychains on sale for 1.78 so I decided to take a ride. I got to the toy section and could not find them, and after running around toys for 5 minutes looking at every aisle, I finally gave up and asked a clerk who said they typically put them in a clearance area (at least at the Target I was at) and we walked around toys until we left the toy section and found them on a top shelf, in a wire bin piled up.. No wonder they had like 20 left...

Looks like a new round of clearance may have started. I found several sets at 30% off in Edina; three TLBM sets, including the Batwing, also the Ultimate Battle for Asgard.
