Buying across the border

IIt’s no secret that for Canadians, there is lots of opportunities south of the border.

That being said, there is lots of hurdles buying in the USA. Some times they just won’t accept your order. Some other times, they charge you some import charges (although there should never be any other cost than shipping on toys).

Anyway… We would love to get your input and tricks to make our life easier and get good Lego Deals

I live 1 hour south of the border in North Dakota-  Many of our Manitoban neighbors flock down to grab LEGO.  I've heard of individuals located near the border that actually act as middlemen to hold onto items to prevent getting duty fees.

In the San Diego Lego store, it appears to be a popular shopping destination for Baja Californians. Is Lego not available in Mexico? Also my Bricklink store has never had a sale from Mexico, which I never noticed until today.

That would be funny if not since that is where it is made for North America.

There is no duty being charged, just the regular sales tax that you would pay anyway based on where you live.... plus their handling fee of about $10

I was having lots of orders shipped to a shipping depot that would hold my orders for me at a cost of $5 per package when the C$ was closer to par with US$.  It is not worth it anymore unless you can get something for about 40% off now once you factor in the exchange rate and the added hassle.

Of course it's available in Mexico - but at often double the price.
