I've had that bloody Kwik-E-Mart song stuck in my head all day now.

    Who needs the kwik-E-mart?
    Their floors are stick-E-mart
    They made Dad sick-E-Mart,
    Let's hurl a brick-E-Mart
The Kwik-E-mart is real...d'oh (homer messing up) - always love that part!

Pretty clear that most of the decorated pieces will be stickers.  I'm hoping that the "soda can top" 1x1 round is printed.  Pretty sure the squishee cups will be printed as they are also in the CMFs.  Also interesting to note that the Buzz cola is a 1x1 round in the Kwik-E-Mart, but a printed "styrofoam cup" in the Radioactive Man CMF.

What a great combo of minifigs in series 2 and the super detailed Kwik-E-Mart!

I love how Krabapple has a 2x2 tile of Gordie Howe.  The attention to detail is amazing...yet Marge is still barefoot. :(

I have to say the set looks cool. Too bad I´m quite busy with Speed Champions and SW this year.

With the collapse of the Euro and Canadian dollars, this set is now cheaper in Canada or Germany (depending on tax) than in the States.

^And since the dollar has far more to climb and the Euro is still falling like a leaf, it's gonna start hurting us on the Lego very soon. Almost like us 'Mericans had the table flipped and now subsidizing the rest of the world.

Euros 1.06:1 USD as of today. Just a couple weeks ago it was hurting already at 1.13:1. The Pound is next up for a drubbing, currently sitting at 1.49:1.

Distinguishing between Homer and Dr Hibbert by feeling sealed minifigure packs is not going to be easy.

Hibbert's hair will give it away.  Same size head, but the bumps on his head should be the ticket.

Semla's eye chart red backwards says

    JEFERSON WE
    JANUS WELTON
    CAROL COWLEY
    JSQCFIUDP
    ZOTPFE

Two names are obvious, and jeferson looks like another. Are these lego employees or something?

We've been subsidizing the rest of the world on prices prescription drugs for a long time anyway, why not lump LEGO into it as well.

No, those were actually the exact letters in the Simpson's Episode "Selma's Choice"...

Sorry, just read my comment and realized that should have been "prices OF prescription drugs". I really need to proofread before posting.

I don't think it will hurt us much at all since much of LEGO in the States comes from Mexico.

There has never been a very strong link between euro and dollar prices for Lego. There is no fixed link between them. Isn't it priced mainly for the local market to compete with other toys while maximising profit. So technical is often better value in Europe compared to licensed sets.

PS. Is the Krone linked to the euro? It doesn't seem to vary much.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^^It's already happened. I first noticed it on the Speed Champions wave, with the Euro RRP being identical to US RRP. Then the Helicarrier pricing did the same. This is all a first considering it's always been higher for Euro vs. US RRP before this year.

@pharmjod I know exactly what you mean. I'm in the pharma sector producing the Active Pharma Ingredient and heading sales for N./S. America for my division. Even on the API side we have to subsidize the other countries like Colombia and Mexico so that they can even afford to produce the products to begin with. They simply don't have the market to support the high costs of brand drugs. But from our view, some volume is better than none, which is the best thing to do for everyone's sake in the equation including the patients.

Looking forward to purchasing this as it adds a "cool" dimension to the theme. Not to push ahead but I had a quick thought this afternoon about what potentially would be NEXT after the Kwik-e-mart?

    Nuclear!

Agreed. Hopefully Dr. Hibbert's hair will have enough texture to tell him apart from Homer. If not it will be just as frustrating as Series 1 Milhouse and Ralph Wiggum. At least Patty and Selma got different accessories.

That would be cool.  However, the environmental (fill in the blank) would be up in arms over Lego producing nuclear children toys.

Mostly I don't see the power plant happening because it's way too big (and not in a way that can really be scaled down), and its most iconic feature - the cooling towers - would take up a massive chunk of the build without really adding anything of value in terms of interior or playability. Here's something worth considering, though: last year was the 25th anniversary of the show's premiere. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Kwik-E-Mart's first appearance. Next year marks the 25th anniversary of the Android's Dungeon's first appearance.

    Coincidence?

    Well, yeah, probably.

$200 is a pretty steep price, no?

For the next set, it would be cool if they did 2 smaller shops like Android's Dungeon and King Toot's kinda of like PS. Or a Krusty Burger. For now this is a great addition to the Simpson's line.

Maybe next year we'll get the Aztec Theater. We all know LEGO is long overdue in making a movie theater priced at or above $149.99.

That looks so cool, I think when the Palace Cinema is EOL then we could get it!

Barney's Bowl-a-Rama would be a good location, it would also give a way of getting Moe, Barney and Otto minifigs without any alcohol or drugs related problems.

It's gotta be Moe's Tavern next, then Krusty Burger after that.

No way Moe's tavern is going to happen surely?

I wondered about a small school diorama. Especially seeing as Skinner and Otto are missing. So stick them in with a school front, classroom, maybe Skinners office and a school bus and you've probably got another $200 set.

Can't see them doing justice to a nuclear plant, and probably a few issues with the theme. Same for Reverend Lovejoy and the church.

Another possibility might be the town square with Jebediah Springfield statue and some store fronts or town hall steps.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
Given the nature of the two existing sets (full buildings with lots inside) surely a front only set is unlikely. A comic shop, bowling alley or something feel like they would work well.

No reason why a Moe's Tavern couldn't happen.. There is even a Moe's Tavern at Universal Studios that serves Flaming Moes..

That makes as much sense as saying LEGO could make a 'Burlesque house' because somewhere there's a whore house in Texas. Its an actual bar, serving alcohol to adults. How does it help make it more appropriate for LEGO? Although it would make a good replacement for the Haunted House.

This is Universal Studios and it is about as family friendly as it can get...

My point is that if a Moe's Tavern can exist in a kid oriented place like Universal Studios, then there is no reason why Lego couldn't do it too...
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
I thinnk Moe's is fairly unlikely - the small chance of it happening comes from the fact that they had drunk elves in a hobbit set and what most people would assume was wine in being drunk with a meal in this years Valentine's set. But a full on bar when the DO set had a pool hall as a cover for having a bar makes it seem unlikely to me.

I think the Android's Dungeon is probably the best bet for a next set (assuming we get any more) - much like the Kwik E Mart they could cram it with easter eggs from the show and while the school might be a better location for them to use I think the size would have to be restricted down in a way that would ruin it.

    "Reaaallllllll men of genius..."

"Here's to you sunglasses on the hat wearing guy. Only you can look look cool standing at the bar at Moe's Tavern. With your bright red shorts and and extremely tight tank top...you make even sweaty pink shirt wearing guy and a female Charlie Brown look absolutely silly."

Moe is one of the more iconic Simpson characters and it does seem a bit odd that his character has still not appeared yet... Moe is a bartender and is known as "Moe the Bartender", so do you think it is possible that his character may never appear in Lego form as well..? When it comes to licenses, we all know that Lego has a tendency to bend their rules...
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
I think a Moe minifigure is more likely than Moe's Tavern as a set. It's true that for licenced themes the rules and as clear cut but a bar just seems that little bit unlikely.
  • 12651265 Member Posts: 1,156
If Lego can make a Mos Eisley Cantina set, then a Moe's Tavern set can exist.  Just name the set Moe's Cantina.

I think next will either be Moe's, the school, or the power plant.

I reckon the school will be next, with the school bus, Willie's hut and some of the swings etc outside. Characters maybe Skinner, Otto and maybe super 'nintendo' chalmers a possibility :) plus some kids.  Maybe Uter with chocolate bar accessory! Just have to be sure not to make him run  :D

I agree that I think they will make the school as well. May be next or another time. They did a good job with the Heartlake High set which was 487 pieces so 4 times this and you could make a great Springfield elementary school (skinners office, classroom, toilets, locker corridor etc.)

Yeah i agree, Kwik-E-Mart is 2,100 + pieces so a lot they could do with that. School canteen too maybe with Lunch Lady Dorris! (probably unlikely)  - guess we will have to wait until around this time next year to find out for sure.

To be honest,  this doesn't even look like a  bar. It could easily  be a smoothie place...with a blaster behind the counter of course ;) Moe's tavern looks like a traditional bar that serves alcohol. The Cantina didn't even come with Wuher and that was probably planned that way.

Just for the hell of it I looked up locations on the Simpsons wiki

    There's 3,259 of them
    Ha!

Really though I imagine there are less then a half dozen that are iconic enough to make into a set

My vote would be for Krusty Burger but I doubt Lego wants that fast food association
