There's a difference between a land line phone in your house, and pay phones in malls/stores.  Those have almost all gone away.

Yeah, I don't remember seeing a coin slot on my land line phone ;)

I'm not exaggerating when I say this could easily become my favourite set.

When Yahoo said "Simpsons super fans will geek out over the attention to detail and quantity of Easter eggs" they were absolutely right!

    I can see:
    • An Angry Dad comic
    • Jasper in the fridge
    • Chef Lonely Heart's soup for one
    • Boxes of Powersauce bars
    • Mom monthly magazine
    • Bumblebee Man caught in sting Springfield Shopper
    • Homer's 'Your a-peeling' Valentines Day card
    • Buzz Cola
    • Ralph's 'Let's Bee Friends' card
    • The Springfield Inquisitor (featuring Mayor Quimby)
    • The list of people Apu won't accept checks from that appeared in the Season 5 episode: Homer and Apu.
Best of all for me though is the hot dog on the floor, again from Homer and Apu.

I agree! Also spied an Angry Dad comic

So I'm guessing that'll be a lot of stickers. I might pick up some of the tiles if they are printed (like Lisa's report, Radioactive Man comic), but not so interested if they are stickers. I also find the minifigs a bit lame. Snake is very nice, Apu passable, is Wiggum new with jam / frosting stains? The others, boring.

The sack in black is nice though.

Nice set, but if it is all stickers to make the details and repeated minifigs, then I'll pass and buy Snake on BL.

I now regret not buying the Simpsons CMF, especially since this is a must buy for me. I mean how could anyone not like a decent shop with lots of products in there city.
  • PlellPlell Member Posts: 192
Lots of them are prints. The soup and cola cans, all of the magazines and valentines, Krusty-O's, pop tab tiles, and even a new ATM print.
  • rmarkworthrmarkworth Member Posts: 88
Very nice interior design. I'd like to copy that to my mocs.

    I think it looks great

Marcos Bessa designed the Kwik-E-Mart! He just posted on his Facebook: 2 hours to go...

I really like it it looks better than the Simpsons house but that's because the Simpsons House hasn't got much to it in the actual TV show. As Chris mentioned the number of Easter eggs for fans is impressive. I really hope they don't have any stickers on the tiles and smaller pieces. At least the police car has a roof this time! I don't like that they have existing character variants that they already released last year. The interior detail is just mindblowing, this could be are next Green Grocer! I like the fact that the building has piping details on the walls and roof, that's what is missing from the Modular Buildings. I guess I have to wait for the press release to form a final opinion.

Like I said, a lot of the tiles are prints. You'll see a full breakdown of all the new decos in the graphic designer's portion of the video.

LOL.. I remember back in the late 80's my friend's father had a phone put in their house and they had to put a quarter into it in order to use it... He had 4 sisters and this was how the dad made them pay the phone bill..

I'm more dying for a reveal of Simpsons Minifigures Series 2, here's still hoping :) Love all the details and printed elements in the magazine stand, but I can't say I love the price, looks like it will cost about the same as The Simpsons House set. To be expected I suppose!
  • AleyditaAleydita Member Posts: 952

I can see this being my favourite ever set. So much internal detail. My eyes normally bleed when I see a €200 price tag but I think this'll be a first-day buy for me.

  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
WOW - this is incredible! Love the overall playability -- I can buy this for my son -- plus all the details others mentioned above. This is like "the ultimate LEGO City Foodstore" type of set, even if you don't care about Simpsons. Really well done. I didn't buy the Simpson's House, but will be buying this.

CMF look great, although not too keen on Marge's dress. And Maggie is rather uninspiring, but at least she gets SLH.

Bartman and Fallout Boy look good, although they really need to do Radioactive Man now. Frink and Dr Hibbert look great. Malibu Stacey for Smithers (I assume that's what he's holding) is a nice touch. And they really need a Skinner now too, with Willy and Edna already being there.

The Simpsons, Series 2 is great but I don't understand why we need the same Maggie again! Next year I hope to see Radioactive Man and Biclops. Thank god Comic Book Guy is not a San Diego Comic Con exclusive!

Next year I hope we get the 'The Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop' set with loads of comic books and super hero references!

Really liking all the accessories in the S2 CMFs.  Slingshot, Squishee cup, Santa's Little Helper, Mittens, all inspired! Although it's nice to get more plungers, I'm surprised that Willie doesn't have a shovel or rake as that is more iconic IMO.

Thinking about picking up the CMF's from series 1, how much does a full set of them run?

I'm in the UK and I still see them at Argos and The Entertainer.

So pumped for these! I have the full set of series one and my wife bought me the Simpson's house for Christmas. Looks like the Kwik-E-Mart could be this year's Christmas build with my eldest.
  • tomahawkertomahawker Member Posts: 204
    Oops.  Meant Snowball, not Mittens.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
I just realised that next to the angry dad comic is the You're A-peel-ing valentines card.

Huw just mentioned that the designer video will be available in April, that sucks! I was looking forward to it, it's odd that they done a press release without the designer video.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
Comic Book Guy in the CMF also comes with a Squishee. So it should be easy enough to get multiples for Bart and Milhouse.

Anyone else think they missed a trick with the mini fig selection in the Kwikemart? The family figs seem to be exactly the same S1 CMF - They could have had Employee Homer, Cop Marge, Bartman (and still done a Sunday Best Bart in the CMF range).

I believe the second is the set of 16 collectible minifigures.

Pictures of the individual minifigures can be found here:

Could also just be bad phrasing with the other set being the house.
  • VortexVortex Member Posts: 342
Ah ! Oh well ...can't complain can we , these two series combined with the two outstanding models is really a terrific ode to this monument of a TV show .  For me , these will end up with the modular set up to add some real fun and colour
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
WOAH! The second series of the minifigs look great!
  • LukeSkywalkerLukeSkywalker Member Posts: 231
Bartman has an actual catapult!! Love it, was afraid it would only be printed like before. Loving santa's little helper and snowball II too ;)
Marie has lipstick and eveningwear gloves, brill. I wonder has Homer got sideways-pointing eyes, making his headprint different too? More excited for these than the kwik-e-mart, mainly because they're more affordable, although the kwik-e-mart is a must-buy too, but will have to wait until after I've the latest couple of modulars. Wallet empty again!
