Yea, they put them on random clearance shelves because they run out of space.

I got the Milano Spaceship Rescue the week it came out for $50 at Goodwill.

I also got a sealed 7140 X-Wing Starfighter at Goodwill a few years back.

Goodwill and Target have a working partnership.

Lots of Target unsold, salvaged items go straight to their shelves.
  • SolariousSolarious Member Posts: 317
But the thing is, afterward I went to the Target right next door and the same set was on the shelf at full price

You just can't really predict this stuff I guess

The Goodwill also had that Ninjago Mechdragon for $30 which is pretty good right?
    Didn't buy it
    Or the $10 Speedorz

Never would have thought to look there
It's not even a section I usually go into
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,006
My local Target still had a dozen or so Steamrollers priced at $34.00.  They have never dropped lower since that initial mark down a few weeks back.

@ryjay, I'm still waiting as well at some stores.

The boxes are beat up - and I'm just going to use them for parts - so I'm just waiting...

I got a chance to go today since we needed to make a run for wood shavings at the petco that's nearby. looked like, all at the 50% off mark,  at least 3 or 4 UA themed sets on clearance for half off, saw a bunch of the red ninjago planes, a technic set that was 20 bucks originally I think, TMNT sub, the police on a motorcycle chasing the criminal hopping over the little gate, a little chima battle pack(I think the polar style one), attack on lake-town, and a few other things I think

Since I only had about 18 bucks with me, I grabbed the AOL-T set since it could work for a project I want to do.

Are you sure about the Arctic Icebreaker?  That's a TRU/Lego exclusive.

It was the most weird and awesome Target clearance experience I've had to date. I'll post more about it tomorrow.
Uhhhm what!?  I don't even know how that could be a valid return...

^Some store got this set sent to them instead of the new pirate ship. I was able to get two for $20.99 at the store by me.

#60081 Pickup Tow Truck, #60082 Dune Buggy Trailer & #60083 Snowplough Truck (AKA Snowplow Truck) are on sale at Target for 15.99. That makes them $15.19 with the Red Card discount (about 24% off). There was a fourth one I don't remember.

^ This was in Evanston, IL. As always with Target, YMMV.

Anybody see Target do additional markdowns today?  I was hoping for some, but all of the stores around me have stalled at 50% off.

    I picked up these today:

    60007: High Speed Chase  $14.98
    79015: Witch-king Battle  $7.48 (2x)

Passed on any more of these until they go 70% off:

76013: Batman: The Joker Steam Roller
    70162: Infearno Interception
    76022: X-Men vs. The Sentinel
    70163: Toxikita's Toxic Meltdown

Wait that long and they will likely get pulled from the shelf for goodwill.
I think you have to be careful not to get too greedy when these sets are a great deal at 50% off.

Casually went to one of my local Targets and saw the "Batman: The Joker Steam Roller" set (76013) for $25. Not my cup of tea, but knowing the ridiculous amounts of money old/discontinued Lego sets sell for on Amazon/Ebay, I figured it was a shame not to get it. I know it's impossible to predict how much money people will be willing to pay for a particular Lego set once it's discontinued - and given the 50% discount one has to wonder how popular this particular Lego set is, but assuming I were to hang on to it for a year or maybe two, how much money am I likely to get for it? Is $100 an unreasonable expectation?
  • ChubblesChubbles Member Posts: 459
That's not unreasonable, I don't think it gets there right away but maybe over time.  You certainly won't lose money grabbing a batman set like that at 50%

Is there a DPCI associated with this find?

Ugh my target clearance rarely ever lasts past 15%. I check at least twice a week for Battle of the Five Armies as its the last LotR/Hobbit item I need and its still full price. Good info about Goodwill tho, I will have to stop by one the next time I go near one.

I stopped at a Target a few miles out of my range today. No clearance at all. Not to mention the same selection of polybags at the registers as I find much closer to home.

Stopped at another on the way home. A few items at 10% off but nothing to jump on.

I must live in the wrong area, because the locations in Southern NJ suck for clearance. Could it be a district thing? Maybe I need to find out how big Target's districts are and check locations outside of that area.

I agree with you on the district concept.  I live 25 min north of NYC and we rarely get any clearance items.

Definitely YMMV. There was a huge stack of Steam Rollers at 30% off for the longest time (3 weeks plus) and then one day they were all gone. You'd assume no one bought all 12 in one sitting after waiting that long for a price drop. So they must have been pulled. Oh well.
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,006
The Steam Roller #76013 now shows "item not found" when scanned in store.  After my Target not going lower then $34.00, they sold the last to me for $15.00
  • thenosthenos Member Posts: 444
They (at least mine) seem to be pulling at 50% or less now. Maybe LEGO won't let them go lower for brand perception reasons?
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,729
Yesterday my Target had the Camper Van listed on the shelf ribbon at $13 and with the  City sale it scanned at ~$11. Reminds me of the weird Fire Truck pricing last August. Anyway, good deal at that price.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,729
#60060 Auto Transporter is also a hidden deal, marked down 30% on the shelf tag and an additional 20% off in the current sale brings it to ~$16. Even less with Redcard.
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
Milcheax @Ladder19JTK I don't even bother visiting my local Targets when I see threads like this - I'm in NJ too and I rarely see the deals that others report. We are the anti-gravity chamber of Target sales.

This might be YMMV. Some Targets don't discount at the same time.

But this is good to know to anticipate future discounts.

    Lucky.

I spied a $84 set that was on discount. But it didn't appear in the inventory.

I knew from reading threads that it was at 50% or 75% off.

The CS rep told me he had to sell it at the last listed price: $84.

    I just walked away.

I too ran into this situation at Target. I found sets that were in the LEGO aisle that were coming up item not found on the scanner. I brought them up to guest services and was told I could pay the price marked (30% off) but I said that they were marked down to at least 50% off at other Targets. They said no to this and the other sets that weren't marked would be marked regular price if I wanted them. Boooooo.

Found three Tumbler sets at Target for $139.98. Bought one. Seals looked to be intact. All 18 bags were there when I opened it. Were the minifigures missing? Of course they were. LEGO CS sending replacements. Totally unphased, as if missing minifigures in this particular set is pretty much an everyday thing they deal with. LEGO has a major problem with how cheaply they package their products and doesn't seem to care.

Stores should make customers jump through hoops in order to return certain items. Collectibles or a certain price range. I returned an Xbox 360 one time and customer service checked the entire box to make sure everything was there. I do not mind, because I rather them do that, then have the next customer get a bad apple.

Got the Tower Bridge the same way at Target via online return.
No minifigs to worry about so that was good.

One I did have to count before leaving Target was Battle for Ninjago City as it did have minifigs. Everything was good.
