If you buy on sale, then they lower the price, are you able to get refunded the difference?

Also, is there a list of dcpi numbers? I can't use that identity tracker without them.

    Thanks!

I think you get 7 days to get a price adjustment.
you can look up the dcpi numbers on the website.

I know I'm going to have a love/hate relationship with this tool and the information it unlocks.

I like the layout of the site and search result info.  I am not sure where the pricing is coming from, but it seems off on some products.  For instance, 204-00-0238 (#76022) is showing up as $24.98 at my local Target, but it is definitely not that price.  Brickseek.com is showing the correct price though ($42.48).  I would say getting the pricing sorted out should be pretty high on the priority list as I would hate to see hearts broken when going to snag some of these deals.

I love this Target price checker tool, but I was wondering, what do the different colors that the prices are highlighted in indicate? For example, I've noticed that sometimes the box he price is in is red, sometimes it green and sometimes its gray.

Gray is the same, red is higher, and green is lower, or lowest perhaps (I'm just guessing here)

I love the tool, but the prices are not accurate.  Target updates prices in store on Thursdays typically.  It looks like there were price updates this morning according to the fyndly, but those do not match the in-store prices.
It might be the "coming soon tomorrow" price, but please don't drive to your stores expecting to find them today.

The prices that you see are reported by Target API for a particular store you are looking at. We don't manufacture any price data it is straight from Target. Target reports two price ( current & original ) and is not consistent with it. So whenever I get current price that takes priority over original price. If it helps I could display both whenever available that may clear up some confusion.

Also to make things more interesting, although API reports this price, Target Store rep has to do a price refresh if it is a markdown.

@Dedgecko You are right. I will add some helpful hints when I get time.

Used this again this evening to check on some things, and apparently it isn't as peachy as I want it to be. Gave me an in-store price lower than the tags and scanner. I think maybe it's just loaded up for whenever they retag, but made me sad. :(
I had the same experience this morning with a Benny's Spaceship. The site told me $49.99, but the in-store system said $69.99. I guess I'll go back on Thursday (markdown day) to see if it's still there.
  • lulwutlulwut Member Posts: 417
Trying tomorrow. Tons of steam rollers and drop ship still at 30% off even though the tool has them listed for 50% off.

Check some Wal-Marts using the Wal-Mart mobile app. I scored 10x Benny' SSs this morning for $49.99 at Wal-Mart. Tagged at $99, but range up $49 as the app said.

Can you explain what a price refresh entails? For instance, the tool reports a set as 50% off, but I called and they told me the PDA shows 30% off. Is there anything I can ask them to do that would get it to match the API?

I appreciate the tool for its intention, but after hitting two Targets this morning it is simply not useful to me if it reports inaccurate data. I went expecting certain sets to be discounted to certain levels, and it was not the case at all. I don't know if I'm supposed to tell a Target team member that the price should be lower, or what.

    I bought this today: http://brickset.com/sets/70815-1/Super-Secret-Police-Dropship .

I got for $60 with tax. The inventory checker said the price was $39. I assumed they haven't updated the price in the store, so I will check back in a few days to see if the price drops.

Same reports here, prices on the site are lower than the store.  Also the store had more inventory than what was listed for the few items I checked.

The policy is to not price adjust clearance items. You can try to return them and rebuy, but when you do so, they almost always adhere to the store policy that returns need to be restocked to the shelves so that everyone gets a fair shot at it. And I really caution about trying to do this when the current price is at the final reduction level, e.g. 70% off. From my experience, many stores will not restock it and adhere to some procedure to transfer/dispose/donate the sets.

I wonder if the price being pulled for clearance items is not necessarily the current price but the price at the next markdown. I went through all the sets listed on clearance at my closest Target, and all match except the Dropship, which is currently at 30% off but listed at 50% off. This Target does markdowns on Thursdays, so I'll check tomorrow to see if only the Dropship goes down to 50% off.

So, if I bought Jokers Steamroller at 30% and now that it is 50%, I can get a price adjustment?
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Just take your receipt, go buy new at 50% and return with 30%. Will likely be easier that way.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
Oh, but what if they don't have anymore left?

@binaryeye I was thinking the same that this may be our preview for tomorrow. We'll know soon ;)

^Then you wait for the 70% clearance price drop and then insist they adjust.

Nope the tracker was wrong for my target....more batman sets than listed and still at $35
  • CircleKCircleK Member Posts: 1,055
The tracker was incorrect for three of my area Targets. I unleashed a rage of explenatives after the last one. CircleK: 0 Tracker: 3

I appreciate the time and effort put into the tool, but my experience so far is that it is just not reliable. So I'm done with it for the time being and will go back to clearance shopping the old fashion way.
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 1,015
Same here. I was excited to look at the deals I was going to get, but most of the Targets didn't even have the correct amount of sets, let alone the proper price when the set was available. I checked the app right before going too. I realize there needs to be an in person refresh, but I don't think the app will work for me long term until all of that gets sorted out.

I did end up going to a nearby Walmart and found a few sets at a cheaper price than Target, so I bought them from Wm and will return the sets to Target.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
Same as everyone else....prices, amount, and availability were all wrong at 2 Targets.  But I was pretty sure it wasn't right anyway.  The link/site said #79018 Hobbit The Lonely Mountain can be found up to 70% at Targets...even Targets website said it's sold 'online only' and I have yet to see it any of my Target since it's release date.

My Wally app told me the Arbutus, MD store had a limited quantity at $49.  Showed up and none to be had.  The toy manager's computer showed no record of ever having them.  Meh.

If anyone hasn't checked it out, Brickseek has a good Target inventory tracker. I have had very good luck with it so far in regard to pricing and quantities.

They have a Walmart checker as well, but I have not used that as much.

I stopped by a Target this evening to see if the tagged prices matched the tool. When they didn't I wanted to check by scanning, and it appears that Target has removed all of the customer operable price scanners.  Has anyone else seen this?

The prices match the in store scanning today.  I saw the 50% price at two of my Target stores.  I went in and bought 3 dropships and 3 steamrollers.  They showed at $39.xx and $24.xx on Fyndly, but when I got to the store, they rang up on the price checker as $55.xx and $34.xx.  I went and found an employee and she said the Target computer system nation wide was on the fritz last night and today and that thier in-store prices were not ringing up correctly.  She zapped my sets with her gun and said that they SHOULD have been at the 50% off level.  She adjusted the price and I got the 50% sales price.  By the way, this was in Fairview Heights, Illinois.  I left 5 dropships and about 15 Steam Rollers.

I left a few at one Target and went to another and bought a few more and left a few. The Joker Steamroller at 30% isn't that great of a deal since I thought it was overpriced to begin with, but at 50% it was pretty good :)

Only one target near me shows 50% off the Steamroller and when I got there today, no one in ANY departments were adjusting prices.  I politely asked a few employees about adjustments and no one knows anything about the process or giving me some BS that prices were already adjusted.  My fear is that the adjustment will be done in the afternoon or tomorrow and I'll miss them.  Grrrr.  I've had such bad luck with Target Thursdays of late, I've missed almost every deal even though I've been showing up early at the stores.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
Only one out of the three local Target stores did a further discount today. They marked down the steamroller and dropship but those were the only sets to make the 50% off. A few sets that were only at the 15% markdowns went to 30%..... Battle for Ninjago City ...$84....ninja turtles big rig getaway....$49....and a handful of Agents sets.

Deals aren't hard to find if you have the time and are willing to put in the leg work.....and live in a really poor part of the country. Trust me....I would gladly give up these deals to be able to move back home. I really have been holding back on my deal posting.

My wife was doing some work, but had to cancel due to weather. She was waiting out the snow at a Starbucks and I asked her if she would stop by Target and see if they had the Super Secret Police Dropship for less than what I paid yesterday. She found it and it was $39.98. I took the other one and got my money back.
