Went to my Target and saw 5 Super Secret Dropships for only 25$ a piece!!! I couldnt get them yesterday becauee I forgot my Debit Card, of course..... so I went back today and all 5 were gone. I swear when I saw the empty shelf I pulled one of these:

DOH! I think though you should be amazed you found a Target that is not increasing RRP to 'clearance' the item
I know I am feeling sick that I couldnt get that deal lol. Also had some Mos Eisley Cantinas 30$ each and they had 2 so I got both. This Target has limited stock on Legos but what they do get usually never sell so they mark them down rediculously. Literally my neighborhood is on average age 58 and up so AFOLs havent found this hidden oasis yet.
I would love to find Cantinas for 30, at the price they are definitely worth the investment. Just make sure the boxes were not tampered with. Usually a good scale and check of the weight of both boxes (to ensure they are the same weight to the .1 of an ounce) will tell you if they have been though. Just to ensure that no funny business was with the boxes where the figs may have been removed or something. (unless you opened them both)

Yeah I broke seals just to check on purpose. The bags are all sealed and good. I probably will use both to make a larger cantina lol.

I'd get a drop ship for 50% off. Hoping they last that long. Also would love a Cantina at 30+% off, but the two Targets I checked had them at full price.

Saw a ton of 30%off Steamrollers, Ultra Agents at 10-20% off, couple of TLM dropships and X-Jets at 30%, few misc sets at 30%. Will check next week.

If the clearance price indicators mean anything at Target, they are not at final markdown yet....although that all depends on what's left in stock, too.  Wednesdays are the days Target marks down toys....so I read.

I found the Tower Bridge at my Target last night for $140.
I'll take $100 off of retail, sure.

Likely, and the stores  do not send them back so they sit on a shelf discounted to get them off of their shelf ((unless a 'flagship' store that sells them). If you are lucky some Walmart stores actually get mods returned and put back on a shelf for 100 dollars as well. Brick and Mortar stores do not like those sets. Too big to fit on the shelves many times.

My golden goose is always going to target and asking for their damaged or broken Lego sets because they rarely display them. They had a water damaged BotFA set and I asked how much and they said for 20$ I could have it. I opened it at home and of course box and instructions were ruined but the bags all sealed and safe. Awesome score fore me since I BL'ed the figures and made about 30$ lol always ask for damage stuff if you want a decent deal.
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
If anyone finds a Mos Eisley Cantina for $30, please let me know.  I've been wanting one for a while lol.  Especially in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.
  • LegoTTLegoTT Member Posts: 487
That's crazy to hear the Cantina is going for $30- I've seen several of those sets at Target stores but always at full MSRP. Hopefully I'll luck out soon!
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
I picked up a few Joker Steamroller sets, but nothing else was discounted except a Bionicle set. 30%+ 5% Red Card. I think it was enough to make me pull the trigger. It is weird how every store is different though. I agree that every post like this should have a disclaimer. Not every store has the same discounts or the same product.

A lot of those sets end up at Goodwill because of damaged/smashed boxes, unsellable returns (usually torn boxes or opened ones), loose/opened bags, etc.
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 1,016
^I know Target donates to Goodwill right away. I've never found any good deals at a Goodwill, so who knows if they donate locally or ship them back to their warehouse and then donates them...

Either way, my wife went to 2 Targets last night. The first had no clearance LEGO and the second had a dozen different sets, all about 30% off or more. I ended up with almost the whole Agents theme and Steamroller and a TMNT movie set. I was not expecting to pay that much, but it saved over 100$ from retail.

I'd love to get a Cantina reduced. Although Wal-Mart had AT-AT before Christmas for 70-80$ that i missed out on, so who knows. YMMV is not just a group of funny letters...it's a fact.
  • cleverusernamecleverusername Member Posts: 54
Regarding Goodwill, shopping at their stores for Lego or any other "hot" item is fruitless. From what I understand, all of the stuff that will sell for more than a few dollars ends up online. The Target items I have seen at Goodwill were things like Christmas clearance that didn't sell at 90% off (I'm looking at you, Justin Bieber stocking). When it gets to Goodwill, it is often priced very close to full retail. This is just one of many things wrong with Goodwill, and donating to them only makes their executives richer. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-hrabe/the-worst-corporation-in-_b_1876905.html

Goldchains, I will keep my eye out as I would love to get one at that price as well.
  • LegoTTLegoTT Member Posts: 487
Does Target usually put clearance items in the regular Lego aisle or are they kept separate? I've literally never see. A Lego set in clearance in Target...albeit I've only looked for 6 months or so.
  • lordzaraklordzarak Member Posts: 329
If your store has a specific aisle/section for clearance toys, Lego markdowns can appear there. However, they are usually in the Lego aisle marked by a red shelf tag.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
dumped on an endcap also happens quite frequently to clearance at Target.

I would love a set of a Mos Eisley Cantina for $30.  it will beat my $48 purchase from Walmart!

Cantina at $30 would be awesome, but I rarely find such deals :(

    @Abel, thanks for the post!

But is there a way to find out which stores have the prices?
The price variations pretty much show that you could drive that 15 miles to a Target looking for an item only to find that they reduced it by 15% not 40%.
  • ReesesPiecesReesesPieces Member Posts: 1,131
When you are looking at the item, push "price".
Wonder if they can check prices at other stores to price match...so I can try to price match.

@77ncaachamps You can find out the price of set in a particular store by using the price checker http://marketplaces.fyndly.com/target/tools/price/check.html. You can check both inventory & price so as to increase your chance.

We simply display what Target reports as price & inventory for a particular store. Please let me know about your experience.

^ and ^^ You know you can find the dcpi and enter it yourselves, right?

Quite frankly this is a fantastic tool. Only thing that'd be useful would be to query quantity and cost at the same time /page. Especially on mobile.

I'd find it more useful if I could simply see everything on clearance at a particular store, or even filter by ZIP code.

I know that clearance markdowns typically happen on Wednesdays, but does anyone know the specifics of that? Is it done before the store opens, or just at a random point during the day?
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120

By me it always happens on Thursdays. I have found if you go too early in the day they haven't had time to rescan the items. When Target changes a clearance price it does it manually. They use the hand scanner and if the price is lower it prints out those beautiful red stickers we all love to see....but until they scan it the price doesn't change. I have always had the best luck showing up about 10am.

I've also noticed that an item is typically on clearance at one price for 3 weeks, and then it gets lowered again. It's a real waiting game and a gamble of sorts, but I like to think if I can't get it at 50% off or so (esp on a $100 set), I don't really want it anyway. It's rare that I'll drop more than $50 on a given set.

thanks guys for all your feedback. Love to make the hunting more productive, but it gets quite challenging very quickly, the sheer number of products ( not just Lego ) , stores, locations, inventory & prices constantly changing in real time.

Clearance price marking at a particular store also depends on how diligent or work backlogged the store is. A store rep has to walk around and do a clearance price refresh of its products, so it may be Thursdays, Fridays or Mondays.

Will see what other improvements can be made based on the collective feedback. Happy hunting http://marketplaces.fyndly.com/target/markdowns/store.html?q=lego

The stores by me never have a set pattern on how long it stays at a certain price. This year at my usual store the end of the year clearance never changed from the initial markdowns while at another stores it dropped every week.

I stopped by a Walmart near me the other day and they had this set http://brickset.com/sets/70163-1/Toxikita-s-Toxic-Meltdown marked down to $11. I would have bought it just for the minifigures, but I just couldn't. They only had 1. Funny thing is they used the same discount label for some Call of Duty sets, too.

The same day, at Target, they had http://brickset.com/sets/76022-1/X-Men-vs-The-Sentinel marked down to $35. I had been wanting it, so I grabbed it. Good thing, too, because today it was marked back up to $42.

Used this again this evening to check on some things, and apparently it isn't as peachy as I want it to be. Gave me an in-store price lower than the tags and scanner. I think maybe it's just loaded up for whenever they retag, but made me sad. :(

The following improvements would be wonderful:
    1. Display the price and availability in a single check
    2. Save the last used zip code and filter & sort preferences rather than having to re-enter it with each product check
