[US] Kroger Marketplace: Central KY

If you have one of these near you, go check it out. It seems the prices are varying by store (3 in my vicinity and different prices).
Some to note:
70809 Lord Business Lair was $34.99 at one store, and 45.49 at another
31011: Aviation Adventures was $38.99 at one store, 27.00 at the 2nd, and $15 at the third
31026: Bike Shop & Cafe is $76
76012: Batman: The Riddler Chase was $22 at 2 stores, and $12 at another
70802: Bad Cop's Pursuit 17.99 and 14.99 prices
70808: Super Cycle Chase 42.49 (to show some prices aren't great)
79121: Turtle Sub Undersea Chase 29.99
60060: Auto Transporter 17.99

More, but those were most notable. The clearance usually isn't regional, but I guess the prices are.

@oansun could you be more specific in regards to location of each Kroger? I live in central Kentucky.

If you're going to a different one, let me know if there's anything different there.

Did they just start this sale today? I went to Kroger yesterday and nothing was on sale.
  • oansunoansun Member Posts: 87
    I only noticed it yesterday

Yeah, it was about this time last year that I stumbled upon a jackpot of markdowns at the Kroger Marketplace in Shelbyville, KY. 50-75% several different sets. Won't be hitting it up this year, so good luck bargain-hunters!
  • goshe7goshe7 Member Posts: 515
Nothing at the one central Ohio location I checked today. Scanned several likely markdowns and all were regular price.
  • oansunoansun Member Posts: 87
Too bad, but they seem to just happen in the middle of the week (I was at one on Sunday and there was nothing) so I guess stay vigilant.

Thanks for posting this! I was able to pick up several sets at 40-50% off at the Beumont Krogers. Some sets were marked down around 70% off but those were all gone. Is there any way to check for these types of sales online? Or do you just have to drop by?

@Final_Sign What did you find at Beaumont? Was there anything left?
  • Final_SignFinal_Sign Member Posts: 101
I picked up Lord Buisiness Evil Lair, bad cop's pursuit, Auto Transporter, Some other City set maybe Flatbed truck. Also got a Bike shop at $76. They had more of those except the flatbed truck set. Many other sets were marked down, but only in the 15-20% range. They were already out of many sets though. I would've loved to arrive when the sale started.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,505
@Final_Sign - What was the price of lord buisiness Evil lair?
  • Final_SignFinal_Sign Member Posts: 101
$35 for Lord Buisiness. $18 for bad cop and auto transporter.

Was the Artic theme on sale?
  • Final_SignFinal_Sign Member Posts: 101
I don't remember any arctic sets on sale, but my boys aren't usually into those sets so I might have overlooked them. There were several chima sets at 50% off with many copies of each left but I couldn't get any interest in them. (I don't remember which chima sets, sorry)

Ok, thanks. I've passed on most Chima sets for this round of clearances, since all I care for are parts. This time only sets with interesting translucent parts make the cut. My daughter wanted the Artic sets and the theme is somewhat appealing to me. I like vehicles in general but I'm not sure what is it that she likes about it. I'm guessing she just wanted the minfig with the hoody on.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,505
    Thanks to @oansun for posting.

@pharmjod and myself were each able to pick up a Lord Business Lair for $35. Hard to pass up on LEGO that cheap.

I'm very happy to see the "wealth of LEGO discounts" being passed around. Sounds like a lot of people got their fill on this one. Kentucky is #1.

@busumoe1 I too would love to find the Arctic theme on a big discount. I'd like to get the base and one of each of the vehicles at or around 40-50% off or better. Not sure if that will happen or not. @oansun & @Final_Sign Thanks for the heads up though!
  • oansunoansun Member Posts: 87
Lord business set was the main deal for me. I passed on most, and too bad I didn't get to the Riddler Chase. I was apparently there the day it happened, according to the employee.
Too bad the Arctic sets haven't seen many sales past the Meijer's one I never seemed to get my hands on. Glad you guys all got the stuff you wanted though, and happy to help. I check Krogers all the time because of these clearances so I'll continue to report when they happen.

I might pick up the bike shop, they had plenty left in Richmond.
  • oansunoansun Member Posts: 87
The Richmond, KY Kroger Marketplace has a metric ton of the Super Angry Unikitty/Batman set for $3 if anyone wants a few.

Anyone in the Lexington, KY area: clearance again.
Tons of stuff. Arctic sets are up to 75% off. Chima $20 sets are $5, ultra agents. I'll try and get pics but it's probably worth your time to check as usual
I won't be able to get and mail anything for anyone this time around.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
    Which one?

@oansun - Thanks again. I was at Gtwon a week ago and they didn't have a sale, so I doubt they would mark anything down to straight 75% clearance.

Did you leave anything at Palomar?
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
You know you're going to doubt yourself @samiam391 you must go back and check :)
  • oansunoansun Member Posts: 87
Well I was at Palomar yesterday and nothing was on sale. Good chance Gtown is too. I'll probably go tonight
  • oansunoansun Member Posts: 87
I left plenty there for you guys. $8 cloud cuckoo palace among
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,505
Wow, think I might head out that way tonight.

@Final_Sign said he just went through and got a lot of sets at Beaumont.
  • Final_SignFinal_Sign Member Posts: 101
Yeah, tons at Beaumont.  I got a full cart and there were still sets at 70% off left . . .

I took pics and will try and list the ones I saw.

Have at em Sam. Nothing there I'm interested in except cloud cuckoo and even then I'm not worried about it. Makes me wonder if the marketplace in Versailles that opens will have stuff already on clearance. I would go but I'm too busy loving on my newborn son right now =D

    that would be incredible

Interesting that there are no SW or SH...  I would have thought that the old SW (B-Wing, Cantina) and older SH (GotG, Man-Bat attack) would be in the clearance.

Love seeing the Bad Cop Car Chase...  That was $15 or $7.50 back in the February clearance, but not discounted this time.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,505
I decided to not go out (and I don't have a newborn as an excuse). So plenty left for everyone still.

Trying to cut back, and resisting this sale is the first step.

(I type this from a chair that I'm chained to).

The sale seems to be statewide.  Picked up a Man-Bat Attack for 12.  Was really hoping for the Milano or Cantina to finally go one sale.  Please I beg of you...if they ever go on sale, save one of each for me haha.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Cantina is $49 at a lot of Wal-Marts

The rare lego sale when @pharmjod and @samiam391 are otherwise preoccupied.  I think thats the only reason there were still any sets left when I got there.  :)

Found what I expect is final markdown at a local Kroger Marketplace. I really only went in for some yogurt. Found 3x #70163 Toxicita's Toxic Meltdown for $7 each, and 4x #70142 Eris's Fire Eagle Flyer for $6 each. Both seem pretty good for parts, and the scientist figure in the Agents set looks like a good extra to have.

Holy guacamole, I am jealous!   :D

Does stuff just not sell otherwise in KY, unless it's on a massive clearance?  Kroger seems to be one of the few places that I am commonly seeing 50-70% clearance sales.  Too bad we don't have them in WA...  We have Fred Meyer, but again I've never seen them do these types of clearances.
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 375
Oops, should have specified...this was in Central VA. Given that the store has major toy clearance events twice a year, including Barbie, Monster High, Lego, and other stuff, I'm surprised they even have a toy department at all. I guess they do enough in full retail sales that the clearance isn't a big deal.

Just curious, was the barcode taped over with a "manager's special" label?  If so, that's a store specific mark down and highly YMMV.
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 375
Yes, there was a label with the price and barcode for the clearance price. I expect whatever they hadn't already sold in the initial markdown (the Meltdown set had been $20 for a few weeks) just got reduced to get rid of them ASAP. And clearance items are always YMMV, I've rarely seen prices duplicated exactly from store to store within a given company.
  • busumoe1busumoe1 Member Posts: 194
Thanks for confirmation.  Yes, I understand that each individual store pricing will vary.  I asked mainly because if there was a label on it, that means likely there will be no change at my store.
