Best way to find parts for an alternate color TIE Fighter?

Hello

I'm planning on starting an idea I've been wanting to do for a while making a Star Wars Empire Air Field/ Spaceport.

Among the various vehicles I want to put together a TIE fighter with red trim to represent an ace pilot (maybe a couple to represent a veteran squad)

I'm newly back into this crazy collecting game and was wondering if there was an easier option for getting the required pieces other then buying the desired model then going through the parts list and finding what needs to be replaced

Would it be easier to just order the entire parts list with all the desired colors changed?

@Solarious, I have done something similar recently. I had the set inventory uploaded in BrickStore then changed the color of the parts I wanted to be changed and exported it as my wanted list in BrickLink.
If the TIE fighter you are basing your model is still in production, then it would depend on how many pieces you need to change, If it is 20% or less buy the model and then the separate pieces would be a cheaper option.

The Tie Fighter has been retired for some time.

It's only been a couple years
I found a few without figs for relatively cheap

Besides, I was using TIE "Fighter" as a catch-all term
I will likely use the new Advance model given the fact it's supposed to be a veteran/ace unit

I would go for the Interceptor but I'm not a huge fan of the models- maybe it'll be the next TIE to get redesigned

    I've never heard of BrickStore
I'll look into it when I can

Are the parts lists already in a database that can have the colors easily changed or would I have to compile that myself?

yes, Menu: File->Import->BrickLink Set Inventory ...
Type the set number in the filter, select "all Items", select your set, click OK ... done :)
