Anyone know what the process of Walmarts clearances are now....including Brickseek.  Brickseek has essentially become useless...everything is "unknown"....unless there's a new Brickseek+ or the Walmart + that shows actually(relatively close) store stock and prices.  I still have Walmart clearance Lego sets on shelves still sitting at 30% off clearance.  It's been 2 plus months since it was first marked down and no longer on Walmart.com.  I keep waiting for prices to further drop...but they haven't.  And the only way to check is drive to the store occasionally.
I believe the only way is to cast some bones and examine the entrails of a possessed goat. Or just go to the store a lot (which might be Walmart’s evil plan).

My problem with that is that pretty much every Walmart around me is at least 15 minutes away or more, and with gas prices as they are (and likely going higher). I typically only go where and when I have a better than average shot at finding something at a store. As there are also other AFOLs in the area looking for deals I really hate spending time and money just getting to a store to find nothing there.Combine that with Walmart's inability to show what is clearance priced in their stores and what is not (though I admit that is why one tends to find items available at the store if you cannot verify what the actual price is unless you find an employee or take it up to a register) and it becomes more of a chore than a treasure hunt.

Found a stack at my Walmart today.  There was no price sign and when I scanned it said "see associate".

Maybe the GE will be in their black Friday promo? They have been doing Creator buckets for so many years though it's hard to see them changing

The Missouri store that had them for $50 went through an entire pallet and now there are only 3 left in the clearance aisle, still $50.

I was at the Walmart in Framingham, MA today.  Terrible selection.  No Galaxy Explorer available at ANY price.  Did pick up 3 Series 23 minifigs though...but I think I'm rusty at feeling up the bags since only 1 of the 3 was what I thought it was.  (Fortunately, the other 2 were not duplicates.)  I'll have to try again another time.

Looks like Walmart has reduced prices on some more sets online.  I just ordered a couple of the newer Mickey Mouse sets as well as the Encanto House for 20% off.  I saw lower prices on some newer Friends & Dots sets as well.  There may be others in other themes that I haven't been watching.  I still can't manage to snag the Creator Fish Tank at the reduced price though.  Every time I add it to my cart it comes back out of stock.

Walmart online is showing #11021 90 Years of Play on rollback to $30.  The Black Friday Deals this week are once again #11011 & #10934 for $25 each, same as last year & the year before.

Stopped by a local Walmart last night for other purposes. As I was walking through the seasonal section up front, something caught my eye. Ended up being an entire shelf full of Galaxy Explorers for $75.

I didn't buy any, but was curious as the box feels VERY full. Did they stuff a bunch of extra padding into those things?

At least #11011 might be the Black Friday 'blitz' sales...if anyone continues that anymore.   I walked into the back semi-outdoor/storage seasonal section for something else and there was a full pallet full of #11011 shrink wrapped.

It is as of today for $25 but since it's a three year old set that most of us already bought the first time around two years ago it would be nice if they offered something new.  My store had tons of them left over after the holidays last year but they never lowered the price any further.
I'll probably end up grabbing #11021 since I've been waiting for a second price reduction on that one.

That is too good of a deal to pass up. I just took advantage myself. I cannot figure out how they can sell LEGO that cheap. $43 for Galaxy Explorer that I told myself I didn't really need. Thanks for the headsip on this one, @Bumblepants.

Yeah I just bought one in Frankfurt on Monday at the Lego Store but I had to get a second at that price.

I couldn't get the extra $10 off to work, but even at $50 I had to do it. I'd already convinced myself that I didn't need another, but... oh well! ;-D

See, I knew we could get a 50% deal if we waited long enough, they basically began selling these at $75.  Thanks for the lookout @Bumblepants
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,833
Yeah, saw this offer on thebrickfan.com.. At 50 its an awesome deal, makes me wonder if:
    1) Walmart bought too many of these thinking they would be more popular and now have to clear them out (probably should have produced this set when LEGO movie 2 was out)
    2) LEGO is going to discontinue them early so Walmart is free to sell them at whatever price.. I only suggest this as typically 'exclusives' (which I believe this does fall under) do not get discounted unless they are leaving production.. Same with the discount for the Daily Bugle and Amazon and Walmart both dropping the price on that set.
Im probably wrong on the 2nd point (at least) but it makes you wonder. It also make you wonder if Walmart is really losing money on these if selling them at 50 instead of 100.

I doubt they're losing money at $50. Maybe very little profit, but if you buy one in-store, you're probably buying some other stuff too, since you're there. I suppose that's true for online purchases as well.
I already have three: Day One at Lego store, 2nd also Lego store, I think with a GWP, 3rd for $75 at Walmart.
If I see them for $50 I'll probably get another to keep MISB.

I just got back from Wal-Mart where they would not sell me the set for $50 at the register, said I had to order it online for pick up, same for the 90 Years of Play set. Ordering online, they'll be ready in about 3 hours.

Resistance is futile!  I just had to buy a second one at this price.  Now I can build one of the alternate versions.  The $10 off code worked for me which sealed the deal.  Suppose to be delivered by Friday.  Forgot to use Rakuten as usual.

Was able to cancel & re-order through Rakuten so will end up costing me $38.68 after discount coupon, rebate from rakuten plus tax.

My brother is going to be mad, he could not order online for some reason and it looks like its now sold out online and showing as not available in stores in the area either.. Hopefully they will become available at that price again (I notice that with Walmart sometimes the sets do become available at the sale prices).

Tell him to keep checking. Stock comes from 2 places for this deal: warehouses for traditional shipping to your house and local stores for pickup or local delivery direct from the store. The shipping from a warehouse seems to be getting some in stock off and on. He can also check other local stores to see what's available for pickup at the store.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
I tried around 10:30 and shipping wasn't an option and the code wasn't accepted(I think it was originally for groceries is why). But now a 1pm cst it's at $75 with only a pick-up-at-store.  My local store just got in 20 last week.  I happened to notice employees walking down an aisle with them and asked if there were moving them for Black Friday.  He said "no...they just have to get them out of the way."  They were still $75 then.

Ordered my $43 Galaxy Explorer yesterday at 5:45am and got it today at 1:15pm, obviously from my local Walmart.
  • PapaBearPapaBear Member Posts: 665
I had to drive 30 minutes away to get mine.  I tried to get two, but they cancelled one, including half of the discount code, so it came to $47.  1254 pieces is still a steal at that price, even if the box is crushed.  I drove to the black friday pick up area and they said go to the regular front pickup instead because it isn't considered a black friday deal.

Galaxy Explorer #10497 is showing up as in-stock for online shipping, although back at the $75 price.
Also, there's a $10 promo code "DISCOVER" for $10 off purchases of $50+, which is suppose to be good through 11/30.

I can’t complain too much when I get the set for $50 instead of $100, but come on Walmart… Shipped in a nice big, sturdy box with paper packing. Should have been mostly fine. Saw a crease in the front, ok. But then… what the heck?!

You lost me on that last sentence. But it could easily have had a crease before it was shipped.

I go to the store to pick up the GE I ordered while out of town... fingers crossed I actually get it!
(Not too worried about the box at all for this one, the box I got on my other copy was just fine.)
