Dare I say, Walmart?

I haven't been to Walmart in forever since their LEGO aisle was always empty. And now I look at these deals y'all are finding. Craziness.

I look at Brickseek and almost every set I type in just says none found in your area. The few that did pop up show Out of Stock (not surprised). Some with some decent deals attached too.

Maybe one day I'll come across a deal there.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 831
^ It really depends upon the Walmart unfortunately and the area you live in.  I hit a rural small town WM to find everything.  My closest WM (9,000pop) had very little.  The 2 larger town WM had their shelves empty and new stuff up weeks ago.
Brickseek has been hit or miss for me.  I had be checking the Pirate Ship once a week since X-Mas...but the site said "Limited Stock"...which means gamble. So I called the store and a guy said they had 2.  But I also found SW The Child...which said "out of stock" and says "no selections in your area" but there's 3 near me.
Even when I try to use Brickseek for the LEGO helmets...like Darth Vader....it says "no selections available"....yet every WM I goto there's 4-8 on the shelves.
Brickseek has always been accurate for me...until the last wave of new LEGO that came out last year....now it's a gamble if it's even on the site.

I found Star Wars Advent calendars for $15 today at Walmart.  Was surprised.  Hadn’t seen anything LEGO related on sale there in months.

Marked down items in my nearest Walmart are dwindling.  Grabbed a second copy of the Dots Spaceship Pencil Holder for $7.20 and the Metal Dragon Beatbox for $4.00.  They still had Vidiyo Candy Castle Stage for $18 & Punk Pirate Ship for $33.60.  A few other Beatboxes for $11.  Super Mario Penguin Pack for $7, they may have had some other Super Mario Packs but I didn't pay much attention to those.

No discounts found last night at my nearest WM, but they did have fully stocked shelves, including the latest CMF series finally out. I didn't end up having enough time to feel through some bags, but plan on going during my lunch break tomorrow to find the handful of figs I want. $5/bag still kills me a little, but I'd rather get them now for $5 than have to pay more later on BL.

No CMF's to be found at mine.  Tons of the Shang Chi polybag and a few of the Dots Frame from last year but the only new Polybag is the Flower & Butterfly one which I already have.
  • Switchfoot55Switchfoot55 Member Posts: 3,280
There was a Batmobile poly among the CMFs that I saw. None of the other polybags that were there a couple of days ago were around.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 831
There's been the new CMF at my local WM for at least 2 weeks. First was one box..then about a week later, 4 more.
I saw some Vidiyo markdowns too.  Odd prices.  #43109 Metal Dragon was $8, #43105 was $4, #43106 was $6.20 and #43110 was $7.40 and #43111 Candy Castle was stickered at $18 but I used the WM app and it was $12.  There were several of each.
I haven't purchased any of the Vidiyo so I left it all.

^ After seeing that price, I decided to check the local WM on Brickseek and the closest ones were 60miles away. So today I had to be at Menards/Aldi and ran into a WM in the same parking lot....and of course.....there was 1 on the shelve.  Also found:

    #60302   City Wildlife Rescue.  $45
    #41450   Friends Shopping Mall    $65
#71738   Ninjago Zanes Titan Mech Battle    $30
#76177   Marvel Shang-Chi Battle of the Ancient Village   $15

What the frig is wrong with Walmart Managers?  Found three of the new City Lunar Research Base #60350 in the clearance aisle today labeled with the wonderfully reduced clearance price of $120.00 on the Clearance Stickers.  I think I'll save myself a penny and order it direct from LEGO for the rrp of $119.99.  Plus I can get a15% back rebate from Rakuten and get VIP points too.  And the stupid price checker scanner in the Walmart app isn't working again.  Everything I tried to scan in two different stores could not be found, not just LEGO.

I have a local WM that has had a bunch of Lego in the clearance aisles for over 2 months now...at their regular price. I check Brickseek every morning to see if prices drop.  Stuff like Stormtrooper, Batman, Vader helmets, Friends Shopping Mall, SW Yoda about 30 Harry Potter Transformation Class.  Luckily it's not the 'main' clearance aisle...it's a clearance asile right behind it with a lot of spring stuff.

Maybe its just me, but brickseek never seems to find any skus or UPCs anymore in my
area... OR I have to search google for the set name and brickseek and it takes me to a completely different SKU or UPC found if I use their search engine in brickseek.

I found the same three 60350 City Lunar Research Base set in the clearance section.  Two were priced $120 and the other was $67.

No idea who Ben 10 is/was based on or if there was a LEGO show, but there appears to be six sets from 2010 ranging in set numbers from #8409 to 8411, and #8517 to 8519.

Seems to be some weird Bionicles/Chima/Constraction figure mashups...

This sounds like an interesting Walmart!

I have no idea what you are talking about. I too entered a Walmart last month and the receptionist kindly agreed to price match some twelve year-old Ben 10 sets.

Some of you might say my story doesn't hold together because I am clearly located in the UK, Walmart no longer price matches and those Ben 10 sets were retired over ten years ago.

Anyway, let me tempt you to click on this mysterious and potentially deadly link.

Was in WM today and saw 60345 Farmers Market Van on an endcap display. There's was no price but I assumed it was going to be $30.00 since past City food trucks retailed for $20.00 and this included an additional garden and three mini figures instead of two. I scanned the barcode with my app and my jaw hit the floor when it came up $44.97! I put it back.

LEGO has always been pricey but this is ridiculous. It's strange because some current sets like 76208 The Goat Boat seem reasonably priced. For five dollars more you get two hundred and fifty four more pieces, five mini figures, two goats, and a boat.

Farmers Market Van looks like a great set but I'm going to have to wait for this one to go on sale.

Seems really odd that #60345 has an RRP of €30 but $45.

Saw the same thing today at WM.  I ran in because my mother wanted me to pick up some Miracle Grow for her....so I walked by the clearance section.  And there was the #60345 also for $44.97 and #60343 Rescue Helicopter for $29.97.  I'm sure they just ran out of shelve space and put them out there at full price.  Someone will be fooled.

I hate it when WM does that. My local store moved some LEGO sets and toys to the clearance aisle and labeled them with clearance stickers but they were still the regular retail price.

There's something wrong here that needs some explanation. $45 USD, £24.99 = $30 USD,  29.99€ = $31 USD. Can any Lego Ambassador ask around?

^^ One cannot assume the RRP in different regions is supposed to be the same based on currency conversions. TLG set prices based on multiple, sometimes mysterious factors in each region.

The only silver lining to hope for with this price increase is that there is an abundance of LEGO stuck at Walmarts to be then heavily discounted.

#43194 $32 in clearance aisle and some of the Stuntz bikes for $5 but those sets were extra overpriced to begin with

Also the locked cases sometimes have the sets arranged in a way that it's hard yo see the box

I have seen that at several locations in Whatcom, Skagit, King, Snohomish and Thurston Counties in WA. When talking to a manager, they have been having issues with sets "walking" out the door, so they are treating the Lego section like video games now.

It's been clear by viewing listings on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, and Craigslist that there has been an increasing plague of stolen sets. It's made it extremely difficult to ensure I'm not adding to the problem by buying said sets.

A good general rule of thumb has been, "if the picture of the set is from inside of their car, it's likely stolen."
