I love it when I’m looking at the app which says “not available in store” and I’m literally in the store holding the set.

I just happened to hit my Walmart at the exact right time yesterday afternoon to snag some amazing clearance deals. I wasn't even in the store for LEGO, had to pick up a few groceries but as always I swung by the isle. Averaging about 74% off all around.

I've given up doing the rounds of my local WalMarts. I've only ever found one item on a deep discount at any of the nearby stores. Maybe one day...

I don't normally make a special trip unless the app tells me my nearest store has reduced the price on a set I know was actually on the shelf recently.  The other one nearby always one shows stock of items they don't have but out of stock on items that are on their shelves.  The others a few towns over are a mixed bag.  One always shows deeply reduced prices but always out of stock but it's a really small older store with what would be equal to about the equivalent of a normal 1/4 aisle worth of the amount of Lego in most bigger Walmarts and the shelves are usually mostly empty.  Two of the other stores have at least 1/4-1/2 the Lego aisle locked in cases so hard to tell what is reduced since the shelf tags never match.

Yep...it was a workout today for the bank account.  Found at 1 store:

    3   #31202 Mickey Mouse      $30
    2   #41424 Friends Jungle Rescue    $19.99
    3   #60258 City Tuning Workshop    $20
    1   #71748 Ninjago Catamaran Sea Battle    $19.60
    2   #41430 Friends Summer Water Park       $24.99

    2   #71704 Ninjago Kai Fighter    $8
    2   #21155 Minecraft Creeper Mine  $40
    1   #60282 City Fire Command  $13.44
    1   #21163 Minecraft Redstone Battle   $8
    2   #75969 Harry Potter Astronomy Tower  $47.98
    1   #41450 Friends Shopping Mall    $33
    1   #75550 Minions Rise of Gru   $9
    2.  #75546 Minions Grus Lab   $4.99

still pass/forgot on some sets...like HP Great Hall for $52.xx and 4Privet Drive and more Mickey Mouse Art sets for $62.xx....I guess I was getting greedy with 70-75%off...seemed like 50% wasn't good enough.

If anyone else finds the #31202 Mickie sets for $30, I'd gladly take two and pay shipping.   : )

Well, according to Brickseek, a Walmart about 20 minutes away has four #31202 at $30/each. I called the store and they confirmed the four available. HOWEVER, they said it doesn't state in their system WHERE they are in the store. I feel like that means they were four that were either stolen, or are lost.

...but...I'm going to take a drive for lunch and try my luck. Thanks a lot you deal finders...

Well, yet another strike out due to Brickseek and Walmart's faulty inventory system. I searched high and low in just about every conceivable area (and even the less likely ones) but never found the prize. I scanned nearly every other set of even remote interest as well with no luck with the other deals people have posted.

Thankfully, I was able to find a small clearance section and grabbed a couple of Dots bracelets (about 80% off) and Picture Frame sets (about 75% off) for my girls.

I'll just leave this little nugget for my to-be Secret Santa: I would like two #31202 please and thank you. And a Disney Castle to top if off.

Seriously, if anyone in Iowa finds two for $30/each, I'd gladly pay shipping. : )

I had the same thing thing happen to me with one store when the movie version of Destiny's Bounty went down to $40. Drove all the way to the only store that Brickseek said had them in stock and they were never to be found. Employees couldn't find them either.

@Astrobricks @Tkatt @gelkster @thenos @CM4S Fellow Twin Citians: Cottage Grove Walmart has a lot of August 1st sets out. All the Star wars, at least some of other themes. Prices are .02 less than RRP.

I feel for you @Switchfoot55 as I too struggled to find any similar crazy discounts here.  I was, however, very happy with my $90 Mickey.  Well, until folks started talking about $30 Mickeys...

I had mentally already given up on ever thinking I was going to own one. Even $90, though at a reasonable discount, was likely more than I was willing to pay.

Then SOMEONE had to go and get my hopes up with $30 Mickeys. I had already figured out where I was going to put the Mickey/Minnie in my new office.

    The dream is dead again.

Closest WalMart (San Leandro on Davis) to me only had Vidiyos on sale, Alien and Pirate were $5, Candy Mermaid was $8.60, Robot was $10.60, and the Llama was $20. Did not scan the Unicorn. Such random prices.
  • AwesomenessAwesomeness Member Posts: 209
I'm out of town and the few Wal-Marts here still have the Mickey sets for $90. No crazy discounts on the other sets people have been posting either. I have picked up some sets but was hoping for the crazy discounts with August right around the corner.

I guess I didn't do too bad at the first store I've decided to check. I got a Hagrid's Hut for $18.24 and two of the new road plate packs for $10.88 each.

No luck for me at the one I checked today. They had some of the new sets out including the Creator Castle and some of the Vidiyo stages.  The old Vidiyo Beat Boxes were still full price and they had the two new ones.  Nothing in the clearance aisle either.  On a more positive note I did get a really cute Grogu tee-shirt.

I don't know who to point the finger at, Walmart or Brickseek but I am so tired of hitting a Wallyworld for a set that the store has at least 2-3 of in stock only to arrive to the store and they have none. I was at this particular WM a few days before so I'd seen them earlier in the week.

I know to avoid "Limited Stock" when using Brickseek but 2-3 in stock I was more hopeful I'd find what I was looking for.

They're not on the sales floor and I get the same search results on Brickseek! Uggh!

We have to put up with these misses because when there's a hit, man is it sweet!

Yeah, I have run across '3 to 4 in stock' only to go and find nothing at the store, I still keep going because I'm a sucker for a great deal (even if 75% of the time I'm just a sucker)

^ and ^^, this is exactly why I decided to go and try my luck last week as Brickseek said 4-5 in stock. Seemed way too many to be ghost stock. But, no luck.

I've given up finding good discounts at Walmarts in the DFW area.  I don't like Walmart to begin with, so visiting frequently in the hopes of finding something good was tedious and disturbing, at best.  Why is it so hard for them to keep their stores clean?

It's the same with the Walmarts in my part of the country too. I clean well stocked Walmart is incredibly rare.

They all seem to have a problem keeping enough shopping baskets available. Perhaps they think that if I'm forced to use a cart, I'll end up buying more. Nope- I 'll either just get the couple of items I really need and can carry... or give up and go to Target.

Yes, I feel the same.  It's been worse over the past 2 years than it use to be. And it doesn't help that Brickseek seems to be even worse.  Now I often can't even find the set on Brickseek but know WM has it.  So I just make a point to quickly scan the shelves when I'm there and make note of what that store has and what I might want to try and snare when sales hit so I can try and swing by when it's sales time.

I've noticed the same thing.  Drives me crazy.  How hard can it be?  WM seems to miss the small things that make a big difference in customer satisfaction.

Saw posted elsewhere that Walmart was selling the new Mickey Mouse Propeller Plane #10772 for $6.99. Had to stop in for some other stuff but the store was selling it for $9.97.  Put in an order to pick it up at the lower price.  I  would have done a price match at Target but they haven't gotten it in at my store yet.
  • panchox1panchox1 Member Posts: 722
huh. I just looked it up at Walmart.com. it's 6.99 but they charge 6 bucks for delivery. no pick up option for me.
  • karritkarrit Member Posts: 1,064
I don't think you get the pick-up option if it isn't in stock at your local store and that doesn't come up until you enter the check-out process.  Still waiting for my pick-up notification.

That last sentence, an all-too-familiar brief moment of self-realization, is not helped that our lego support group (other members of Brickset) only encourages us to spend more. It's not my, er, our fault...
