Yeah, I think they lasted 2 minutes maybe? Got the max of 5 for free store pickup.

Wow 5 minutes and I check... oh well at least that’s $35 I didn’t spend

Wow. I just missed it by 15 minutes

At least there's still 2 more days for this sale. Hopefully at 8am it's live again and they have more in stock for the ones that missed it today.
  • jmeninnojmeninno Member Posts: 1,175
Hope you're right.  I did see that note.
  • 12651265 Member Posts: 1,156
Won't be surprised if the next sale dates it'll be limited to one per order.  Makes for better business and customer satisfaction.  You'll have more customers having the opportunity to purchase one and more profits for Walmart since customers will purchase additional items just to get free shipping.

I fully agree, I would of been happy if it was already limited to one, but could not pass on the opportunity to get the max amount for that price.

Wow I feel shafted. Stayed up midnight to 6 am hitting refresh to try and get these. I feel like a fool.

I'm still baffled they didn't do the 1958 pricing on the new retro sets which are absurdly overpriced. Those aren't going to sell at full price and perfect for generating hype for sales of modern sets. Also why would you not put a limit of 1 on a loss leader like this?

Well, it is Walmart.com so this is typical. In stock does not always mean in stock. Though it does show out of stock instead of 'buying options are currently unavailable' or whatever that other message is.
Guess Ill be keeping an eye on the page all day.

I wonder how many they allowed themselves to sell today? Looks like I’ll be up at 5:00 am on the other two days... wanted to knock this out the first day. :/

That is the thing, I get it is a good deal, but everyone was allowed to buy 5, and it was gone in 4 to 5 minutes, how many were really sold?

I stayed up all night checking every hour, until 6am CDT, but even if I had saw it as it occurred, would I still have gotten them? Dunno.. Also we are assuming the next time they make these truly available will be at the same time they did it this time. What if they change the time these are made available again?
  • jmeninnojmeninno Member Posts: 1,175
That's what I'm worried about LOL.  I have an alarm set on my cell phone (named "Lego bunduru", mind you) for that day, a few minutes before 0800.

Well you should have two other chances as well: on Feb 7th, and 11th, if I recall.

    Thanks, @madforLEGO
Does that mean it's done for today?
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,787
A lot of people are still likely refreshing the page hoping it appears in stock again today, but likely it is done today.
  • ModeltrainmanModeltrainman Member Posts: 1,221
When did their special Bricks on a Roll get released? Somehow, I missed it.

I was wondering whether my WiFi was acting up at a bad time or if their website was overloaded. Apparently the latter. Their own fault for how they handled this promotion IMHO.

I signed up for that in stock email... I'll wait for that, or just the next day of the sale.

Me too. I asked a rep, he said they're still coming today. I guess we'll see.

From the sound of things these sold out in a matter of minutes, meaning someone had no issues getting to the site.

This just sounds more like a huge number of people ordered the 5 max of the set (and maybe used bots to do it); Walmart did not make that many available to begin the promo with, and allow too many to be bought at once.
It is kinda like people running to many different Walmart's to buy up stocks of Large LEGO creator brick sets at 50% during the Thanksgiving day promo before others could get at least one. Walmart also has trouble with limiting promos too.

It does not help that this was all over brickpicker.com meaning the folks with the large storage areas filled with LEGO were likely waiting on this sale as well so they could flip these, or break em up, for a profit.
IMO Walmart should have limited these to two per buy at least. It makes no sense to have the 'limit' at five to me, unless you are looking to sell out quickly. Such a good deal should have been limited to two  (as they have done on Thanksgiving online sales may I add) as that is plenty of brick for someone looking to get a good deal for themselves or their kids, and to dissuade those looking solely to make a buck. Yeah, I get that they can do multiple orders as well, but that takes time, time where someone else can get two of these.

All in all, my guess is that the last of the promo days will have the most to sell because they will be limiting the first 2 days in order to have enough left for the last, but just a guess.

I'm super confused. Says Walmart:  Andrea V: Thanks for chatting with Walmart.com! I’m Andrea V and I’ll be assisting you today.
     Me: Hi!
Me: So, earlier a rep told me that the LEGO 60th anniversary deal https://www.walmart.com/nco/LEGO-60th-Anniversary-Exclusive-Bundle-LEGO-Classic-Creative-Building-Set-10702-amp-Sand-Baseplate/47224043 was still happening today.
     Andrea V: Hi !
Me: Is it not? Do I wait for the 7th, or the 11th?
Andrea V: Let me inform you that you are right Lego was a special promotions for their 60th anniversary, the items will be available on February 7-11-9. We will set your email address in order to send you an alert when the items will be available in our web site.
Andrea V: The release will be at midnight CST.
Me: Really? It was supposedly today, too...
     Me: https://www.walmart.com/cp/lego/1105635
     Me: According to the page.
     Me: So, I'm confused.
Andrea V: Unfortunately we have system issues and our warehouse was unable to update the web site, please do not worry the items will be available for the same price that were listed in the page.
Andrea V: I'm truly sorry for this confusion. Are there any other questions I can help you with today?
     Me: No, thanks.
Andrea V: It's been a pleasure assisting you. I am going to disconnect now. You may receive a brief email survey regarding your experience with me after you close this chat, and I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you for contacting Walmart.com and have a great weekend!
     Andrea V has disconnected.

  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,342
@madforlego I was also surprised the limit was 5, was looking forward to getting that many and not having to throw in as much for free shipping, but that does make things more hit or miss given the same supply.

@modeltrainmain @astrobricks Tuesday is the 6th, midnight would be the start of the 7th. (Midnight on X is often confusing)

@BrickByBrick were you wearing blue? similar happens with red at Target

Sometimes I'm spending so much time in the aisle looking so intently at the product it might also give the impression I work there. @BrickByBrick, you think that was part of it too?

Also, if @BrickByBrick was upset because of being mistreated by Walmart, that would contribute to looking like a Walmart employee. They usually aren't the happiest bunch.

I sometimes wonder if J.K. Rowling got the idea for the Dementors after she visited a Walmart. It may just be the Walmarts I've been to... but they tend to be dimly lit, the air looks grey and many of the shoppers seem sad or depressed. My soul often feels like it is being sucked out while I shop there. Pretty much what a Dementor attack is described as.

So, midnight CST on Tuesday night.
Yeah, doubtful. I mean, they can say the sale goes into effect at 12:01am, but when is it activated for the item on the site? If @12:01am I would be surprised (because if it was a legitimate 'problem' Walmart has, then people are also assuming that they do not have this same 'problem' again, as they seem to have this 'problem' all the time with such sales). I think Walmart does what a lot of online retailers do, wait until 6/7/8am in the morning of the start date to ensure that all stock is not gone due to night owls prowling at 12:01 looking for the score (at least that what it seems that Target, ,TRU, and -yes- Walmart has been doing for some time now).

Was I going to check at 12:01AM on Tuesday? Yes, because for me it is not a big delas as I usually am awake at such times anyway. However I would take anything CS says with a big grain of salt! (never mind it does not sound to me like CS and the caller were really on the same page)

Nah, I was done looking intently at the Lego aisle and was just walking through another on the way out of the store (They didn't have anything I needed). Unless this guy had been following me for 10 minutes....

^Anyone else get the feeling it is about $3-5 worth of bricks and a $15-18 graphic design on the box? Unless they do some big sales these are going to be so dust-covered by the end of the year people will start to think they were manufactured 60 years ago.

4000028 is sold out online and none in stock locally in Dallas. It is a bit overpriced, but they seem to be selling.

They seem to be getting smarter about these also, as the first anniversary set, the house, had quite a high limit I believe (certainly at least 5, and it might have been more) but the windmill has a limit of one per order.  They didn't stop me from making two orders, but at least I did have to make two orders, instead of being able to load up on them in a single order.   Maybe they'll have the limit one on the super pricing deal too, next time its up.
