Went to my local store this morning looking for three #75156 Krennic's Shuttle supposedly in stock for $19 and came up empty handed.Curse you phantom Brickseek stock!
When I got home I returned to Brickseek & noticed some #75189 were marked down to $74 but it was quite a drive and I'd never been there before, decided to give it a shot.I finally found my way there after a long drive and proceeded to the Lego aisle which was pretty much bare.
I did the "walk around the entire toy section 4 times" thing hoping I'd spot them.Coming up empty once again I decided to ask an employee since Walmart App said they were in stock & in the bare aisle.
They got on their Walkie Talkie I was then sent to the Garden section and there they were,a large stack of crisp Assault Walker's.
It costs nothing, but it surely pays to ask.
phantom stock in all over in our area. Nice on the walkers, never saw any

Grabbed a #75189 from the Littleton Walmart on Quincy for $74. Brickseek said they had 7 as of this morning and they did have a bunch. The price on the shelf was still full price which might be why they haven't been cleaned out yet.

When I got to the store, the employees were resetting the Lego aisle. I happened to look at the flatbed cart they were loading with old product and found the Assault Walker.

If you need the First Order Star Destroyer, the store on Federal and Evans had about 10 of them at $79 yesterday.  I got one of them, and their last $74 Heavy Assault Walker at the same time.

Grabbed 21 of the Catwoman/Robin/Batgirl set yesterday for $5 a piece.  Using them as a mega draft for my lug in the next month or so!

How many sets did that take? Looks great!

Sorry for the double pic. It was supposed to be a shot from a different direction. I think it took 5 of the deli sets. It was my first attempt at making a Modular style building.

Only good deals I saw in the locked cases were #41130 friends roller coaster and #70909 batcave breakin for $59 - still not good for part out but the best I've seen those sets

Apparently my wife drives slower than the reseller that wiped out the two Walmarts that listed them in stock.  Whoever got those 11 Walkers congrats.

I think I have a couple resellers living around me, because when things DO go on clearance, they generally get cleared out before I have any idea about it (and I've been going in almost daily the last few weeks just to make sure I don't miss anything).  Kind of frustrating, but I guess I can't complain too much since it was at clearance prices anyway.

Yeah, I mean I don't blame them, everyone needs to make money.  If I had set off right when I saw they had them I would have gotten one, but I chose convenience....and that is why I fail.

^ I’ve only seen one in the “wild” once. A guy had two carts full—pushing one and pulling the other. This was a couple of years ago now at one of the bigger local Walmarts. I was searching for one of the Quinjet sets at the time and he had them all in his cart. At first, I cursed under my breath. Then simply asked “I was looking for that set, can you give up one?” He was very cool about it, said “of course,” and handed me one.

I live in a relatively big city/area, so I’m always surprised I find as much clearance as I do that hasn’t been hoarded yet. I always figure I should see more people out there clearing shelves.

As a tiny-level reseller, I maximize my purchases at three of the same set so others can enjoy success in their hunt. I know there is potential profit and giant builds involved, but it is satisfying to leave some for at least one other person, too. Plus, I don't have the time to sell all that stuff, so it keeps me from regretting over-purchasing also.

In addition to some of the recent posts above, I did find the Scarecrow Harvest of Fear set for $15, which was a nice find.

WalMart, to me, has certainly kept my wallet heavier with their clearance prices when I decide to be a patient-buyer. I do agree that their prices are inconsistent store to store which blows my mind away as they should be as consistent as McDonalds. I chalk alot of this up to individual employee decisions, not the chain, but sometimes their sku-to-price database reflects differently than whatever prices is slapped on the box/shelf so it's always best to buggy-up all the stuff and go price check at the self-help-pillar.
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
^ They’re inconsistent due in part to inventory levels. If a store has 1 copy of a 2-year-old set, they may not need it off shelves as urgently as a different store that has 15 of that set. I just bought the largest Cars 3 set for $20 at a WM that had 10 of them. It was $30 at another WM that only had 1.

That's a great deal! One of the best deals I got was a REALLY large Batmobile for $30. I should have bought two. The one I did build was when my now teens sons were younger and it managed to get "re-bricked"...lol...along with all my Star Wars Lego collected up to that point :(
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
^ My sons are still young, so most of their sets have been disassembled and dumped. I’m actually surprised their Xmas present sets are still together. It’s rare they last more than a week assembled according to the instructions.

If you see someone with a cart of clearance don't assume they are a reseller. In the past I've grabbed up quantities for myself and other members of my LUG or for a parts draft. Lego is more fun as a social activity

I used to be a reseller (now reformed) and a cart full of sets was never profitable. It was all about the mystery-pack-minifigs and my abilities as a "Lego Whisperer" to sell them sealed. When the price got hiked from $2.99 to $3.99, I saw no profit in it as I was a bulk seller (i.e 500 Pandas to China, etc.). The extra 50 cents I made on each one, I considered gratis for my efforts driving around my region to get them all.

^ Completely understand and agree, but my area is lacking of an active LUG. But yes, he could’ve been buying them for a number of reasons. I, myself, have bought in bulk for donations in the past.

Me too as it was through the bulk buying that I got tons of freebies to donate to children's hospitals. On the other hand, when a whole new season's/year's line get's release <cough> Star Wars </cough>, that buggy is filled for ME....LOL. I can't believe they're releasing Hans Story this May.

Went looking for Heavy Walkers at $74 at one store that Brickseek said had two. No luck there, but I grabbed a Battle on Scarif for $25. Then I stopped at another store and found a FO Star Destroyer for $79!  Got the last one.

With the exception of the Battle on Scarif for $25, those other 2 are out-of-this-world deals as those sets scare the $150 range! KUDOS! You are talking about the newish AT-AT walker  and the new FO Star Destroyer, right?

    Yup. #75189 and #75190

Just got home from a third store where I nabbed the last two #41148 Elsa’s Ice Palace for $35. Particularly sweet since I saw the shelf tag for that price at two other stores but there were none left, and the boxes I bought were marked $54.

And THIS was in a WalMart? Amazing! I'm also assuming not returned/damaged, etc. If so, I may be able to go back to mine a get some refund. Done that kind of thing before. Store# and location would be useful if you have it, please. ;p

Yes. We’re in the Walmart thread, so I don’t restate it every time :)  Can’t tell if a return or not, though both boxes have one of those big ugly bar code stickers right on the front, and one has a well-crushed corner.

I’m in MN. I’m fairly sure a Walmart in GA would not price match clearance prices in MN, but you can always ask. Typically, price matching other stores’ clearance is against their rules.

@abordoli They have been running #75189 and #75190 out to 74 and 79$ on clearance, respectively, rolling across a number of regions.  To see if any of them near you have those, you'll want to look for SKUs 480319843 and 951814057 at brickseek.com (Brickseek doesn't actually have the products in their own database, so you need those skus to find them) to see if the ones near you are running the clearance yet.  I suggest sooner rather than later, as they seem to have been selling out fast.  And none of the ones I saw were returned or damaged at all. :P

@abordoli yeah, whole sets aren't worth it, I part out on bricklink. $2.99 CMFs are before my time, $3.99 isn't really worth it for me either even if I pick out just the higher value figures

^^ That's an awesome cart. Destiny's Bounty didn't make it past $124 at any Walmart in a 30-mile radius from me unless there are some sitting in stores where the stock is listed as 0. A couple Walmarts kept dropping their prices after all were gone, but that doesn't help me much. I'm hoping to get one on sale at Target in the near future.
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,422

One is spoken for and the other two I'm just gonna hang on to to be honest. It was an hour and a half round trip drive to find them. My kids were very patient with me today as they were along for the ride.

The frustrating thing is there is a store that shows three in stock and they are nowhere to be found. Management just shrugs it off. I mean, no biggie that $500 of one sku is missing.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here yet, but my local Walmart (Glen Burnie, MD) had some new Ninjago sets ( #70632 Quake Mech, #70642 Killow vs. Samurai X, #70643 Temple of Resurrection) for 10% off. I also picked up #70612 Green Ninja Mech Dragon for $40 (20% off) and #75534 Darth Vader for 15% off.

Didn't see any Destiny's Bounty sets (Brickseek agrees), I definitely would have jumped on it for $80 if they did.
