If for yourself? I'm guessing 30% off is nice. It could get down another 10% IMO, but if/when that occurs I think many resellers will also strike on it. In general I would say 30% is a good price to buy most sets, not sure how many others feel that way.

I'm just hoping that the 50% sales are next.

Maybe Walmart will have some good 50% off Lego after Christmas this year like back in the good ol' days. They certainly have had more sets on sale over this past year so there is a certain amount of precedence that post Christmas could be bountiful/expensive!

Saw too many to even list, anywhere from 30-60% off: Ninjago, Nexo, Angry Birds, Star Wars, Superheroes (the Ra's Al Gul set was $15, Iron Sub was $11), Creator, and City...almost all from the first part of 2016.

    This was central va.

Yeah, guessing we may see Target and Walmart 'fire' sales again where some prices hit crazy lows. However, in my experience, most stores I have gone to are not doing that kind of clearance, or even any clearance on LEGO, OR someone has already cleared out the store. So definitely 'YMMV' as to if you find such sales.

If you live in a well-to-do community, I'm gonna guess that you're not gonna get the sweetest deals, if any deals at all.

The Bay Area rarely sees clearances. 99 cents off is the nearby WM's idea of clearance.
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 376
From what I've seen, the only store in my area with the great deals is the one with the very small section for Lego. The store 4 miles up the road from this one has 3 times the shelf space and practically nothing on clearance.

Some crazy discounts. Certain ones are 50% off, while most others are around 30%. Also saw the Green NRG Dragon for $30 , Lighthouse Seige for $52, and End Portal for $32ish.
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
Also saw #60102 Airport VIP Service for $29.84 in store and it's the same online.

my local walmart just put out 2 copies of the new Batman Movie batcave #70909 and appears mispriced at $88 vs msrp $99.  Not really into it.  $11 off, what would you do?

If anyone can obtain a Ra's Al Ghul set for $15, please let me know!  Especially if you see it around the Cincinnati area.

I wont bother hunting on sales two weeks before Xmas, like this. But after, when everyone is tapped out, there is a better chance to finding stuff.

I will be looking a few days before to see what local inventory looks like. That will give me a good idea whether or not there will be any deals.

Don't forget to check the prices of the items in the Walmart app so that it shows you the pricing on the location(s) you select.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
^Does that work now? I was trying this summer and I'd just get the online prices after scanning with the phone.
  • Bricklover18Bricklover18 Member Posts: 722
It shows you the store price if you type in the set number for that stores specific location. If you scan it with our phone it gives you the online price.

Is there a way to filter out all of the 3rd party sellers from Walmarts search results?

Lego batman movie sets: Yeah I noticed that all of these were ~10% off in Walmart when they first hit shelves. Even shows that price online if you search the local store page.

Anyone spot one of those "helpful" WM employees directing traffic at the checkout lanes?  I just roll my eyes and chuckle when I see that commercial.  Maybe that was WM intent...their version of spreading holiday cheer!

As #75140 started disappearing from my area, I kept an eye out for deals. Wanted it, but not at $70. Found 1 slightly battered, but sealed box yesterday at the closest Walmart to my house for $35. Merry early Christmas to me.

Saw some stuff marked down to clearance, typically 30%. Most of the stuff that was Rollback the last few weeks is now clearance. I remember Jay's Elemental Dragon, Raid Zeppelin, and King's Mech for $21. Creator Corner Deli was $30. Best deal was Killer Croc Sewer Smash for $40; it was the only half off deal I saw. Now this was an unfamiliar Wal-Mart in Cleveland GA, so I don't know what discounts were previously.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
I saw nothing exiting at any of my 3 WMs.  Considered the $79 #75151 Clone Turbo Tank but ended up passing.  As previously stated...stuff that was "rollback" is now "clearanced" at the same price.  My nearest WM still has Friends and Star Wars Advent Calendars at full price.

I found nothing at my Walmart stores, and the guy said it had sold well enough during Christmas sales so they probably won't reduce prices. Might be better luck at other locations.

Scored a few Piggy Pirate Ships #75825 today at 50% off in Mitchell, SD. Finding out that this set is an all around really good parts pack.

Sales and clearances are always YMMV, so it's always good to see someone getting a good deal with LEGO or other items.

Picked up a couple #31405 for $11 each to use for parts. The smaller Walmart in my town still looked like a bomb hit it. I found lego sets stashed all over the toy department.
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
You might wanna start looking out for the temporary clearance aisles in the stores, yesterday I got these on clearance; not the best prices but good enough for me:
They also had some Elves and Friends sets (which I wanted to get, but, priorities, my city needs a fire department) on sale at about 50% off too. I'll visit all the other stores and see if I can get any more stuff before the end of the year.
  • MegtheCatMegtheCat Member Posts: 500
My store had a bunch of a single Ninjago set + 1 copy of The Fortrex on a clearance shelf in a main aisle. That is it. In fact the regular Lego aisle is so decimated that it is literally half the shelf space it was before. I hope new sets will be forthcoming soon.
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
Went to SIX (I hadn't realized that until this morning, and I still could have visited at least two more stores) different Walmart stores and found their clearance sections with a lot to be desired in terms of toys (the reason why is obvious).

Only the first store I visited had a decent number of sets on 'clearance' but at 'sale' prices; for example, the Resistance Transport at $45, which might be a good deal but when some of us got it for $35 it's not as appealing. Some other SW sets, but again, with no more than 40% off on average.

The oddest find (you can see my pick on the buying thread) was at the last Walmart I visited (second closest to me, last one I visited on my way home) in which I found a few polybags that I had not seen anywhere else here in the area I live (#30349, #30424) and they had some that I had seen at Target and TRU (#30346, #30399).

What is consistent with almost all stores, is the fact that most (at least the cheaper sets) of the LEGO products are gone and that the aisles have not been restocked.

Oh boy, here come the mythical Walmarts popping up with everything 50% off whereas the ones near me have nothing on sale, or are already cleaned out...

Did go by my local Walmart to pick up my base plate order and was reminded as to why I dislike going to Walmart. A few friends sets on on 'clearance', but only by a few bucks. At least I managed my way through the directionless masses and picked up my order.
