They mark stuff down to $0.03 and have to honor that price!

I've been refused and the product has been confiscated and salvaged when I've attempted to buy $0.03 items.
I would have made a HUGE stink about that.  That's not the policy.  Anything labeled on the floor is fair game.

Is the discount for Ultra Agents in-store or on-line or both?
  • eastonlioneleastonlionel Member Posts: 14
Looks like the 30% off of TLM sets is in store only.  I don't see these discounted prices on the TRU website.  Anyone confirm?

Saw the ultra agents 30% sign in store.
    had effective dates 1/2-1/9

I went to our local TRU, and they had three TLM sets still on the shelves, but unfortunately, the tags have the TRU list price, which is above [email protected] price and MSRP, so 30% off of an inflated price brings it down to what Target was selling these sets for.  Not really a bargain.  I'm just going to wait until the TRU website has a sale on TLM sets.

Yeah. I always check Brickset's MSRP before I buy anything at TRU.

TRU is infamous for doing this with lego sets.  Especially right before the holidays.  They jack the prices up then put them on "sale" and most times, the sets are STILL more expensive than what you'd find at walmart or target.

I guess they prey on people who are REALLY uninformed.  Most likely parents and grandparents.  Maybe even casual shoppers that are looking for birthday gifts and whatnot.

There are some great deals happening at TRU at least in Canada starting today. Older Lego sets have been clearance-priced. In addition clearance items are Buy 1 Get One 50% off. Now,this will all depend on the selection left at your local TRU, but many big sets including Creator were on sale at mine. The Bike Shop #31026 was $69. I picked up just one since I already own it. I also picked up X-Men vs The Sentinel #76022 and with the savings I paid $18.

Still watching the LEGO Creator Bike shop and Cafe to drop more than where it is as right now to see if I can get a good deal on them online (at least near what they were on sale for at Target on BF)

Me too but TRU seems to be the only place that has them in stock.

Toys 'R Us has Battle for Ninjago City on sale for $72.98.  Not available for shipping but you might get lucky and find one in a store.  My store showed OOS, but found one on the shelf when I went to check in person.

Nice - thanks.  I picked up two and threw in a couple of the TFA battlepacks to get the free shipping.  Surprised TRU didn't have them marked up.

Good idea! I also bought two and it gave me an excuse to buy a First Order Battlepack.

I got that email too. Although I forgot I set one since I picked up that Hulk back in December on his own at the store...but hopefully this will help decrease prices/increase availability.

There were some pretty incredible LEGO Dimensions sales this past week (probably because they're clearing out old stock to make room for the impending new wave). Yesterday my brother and I went to TRU and he was able to buy five "Fun Packs" for like $36 due to two overlapping sales (Fun Packs were all marked down to $9 and there was an offer to save $10 on any $40+ LEGO Dimensions purchase). I think those deals end soon, so worth checking out if you have LEGO Dimensions packs on your wish list.
  • sonsofscevasonsofsceva Member Posts: 542
This week LEGO Dimension Fun packs are 2 for $15 in store, including the ones that came out today, so the same deal as at Target with Cartwheel.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,794
Amzon.com is still selling most of their packs at 7.49 USD as well.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 837
I received confirmation emails for my purchases the other day during the short lived Hulk poly availability.  I ended up ordering 5 polys (3 different) to reach the $19 free shipping.   The Hulks are being shipped from Los Angeles, the Creator Tigers are coming from Des Moines, Iowa and the Friends poly is coming from East St. Louis.   Sheeesh...seems like a they could come up with a better system.  At least they're trying to keep FedEx and USPS in business....instead of their own company.

TRU has Dimension packs for $3/each when you buy a team or level pack.  Didn't look at what the team or level packs cost, just saw the in store ad.
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,001
Also saw at my TRU, 2014 Bicktober sets were all $9.99. Only one missing was the Pizza Place, but plenty of the Townhall, Firestation, and a few Cinemas.

Got my 2 Hulks in massive padded envelopes, same with the 2 Statue of Liberty's I got in the same order, but separate packaging... Gee I wonder how companies could be losing money.

My toys r us in fair lakes va had the hydra fortress smash for $35 (available online as well). Not bad considering it is a toys r us exclusive probably the only time you will see quicksilver figure.

On a side note, I was also able to find two ninjago city sets for $58 each.  I haven't seen these in a while so I maybe they found them hidden in the stockroom.

Looking at the new Captain America: Civil War movie, I'm pretty sure we will see another Quicksilver. But that's the only one for now!

Is that the civil war movie you are thinking of or the new XMen movie? There are two different versions of Quicksilver, pretty sure the X-Men movie will have him, but Civil war will not.

I know I saw Scarlett Witch in the trailer for Captain America: Civil War.  Would stand to reason that Quicksilver would be there too.  Or he die in Avengers 2 and is still alive in the X men franchise?  Man I can't keep all this comic book stuff straight...!
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^Quicksilver got shot at the end of AoU and went down with the cheesy line "bet you didn't see that coming." Last you see of him is getting loaded on to the bed of a truck alongside Hawkeye. I wouldn't necessarily call him dead just yet. Not after how Coulson can come back from a way worse death.

Yup... The avengers one died so I just figured we won't be getting another one unless it is the comic version.

I remember reading an interview with Joss Whedon (I think it was him) stating that he meant for him to die and stay dead, that it wasn't another Coulson thing.  But of course, you never know what'll happen and the fact that he's stepping away from future Marvel movies (again, pretty sure I read that in another article) means anything is possible.

After reading the quicksilver comments, one wiki has his current status as deceased.

and since there wasn't a figure created for Xmen: days of future past, then this should be it.

    for now

"His body was taken by Hawkeye from Sokovia on Nick Fury's Helicarrier."

I think of it like 'soap operas', never assume characters are dead.

Marvel gets really difficult to align between movies and not-movies, because of specific rights that (again, with only movies), Marvel doesn't own.  It gets even more complicated when you factor in characters like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who straddle the lines because of contractual holes (they are mutants in Fox movies, enhanced in Marvel movies - MCU movies can't even use the term "mutant").

This is why you'll see tons of character crossovers in Lego form, but it's very delineated in the movies.  I.e. no Mutants/Xmen or Fantastic Four in the MCU.  It was the same with Spiderman until Sony finally got their heads out of their butts.

So, for movie-specific sets (Ultron, Civil War, etc.) you won't see Quicksilver (because he's dead - for now), Fantastic Four (because Fox sucks), or Mutants of any kind (because Fox still sucks, but at least they are doing decent mutant movies).  For normal "Marvel comic book" sets, every Marvel character is fair game.

Does anyone else frequent a TRU that still has sizable inventory of TMNT / Hobbit / Ultra Agents / TLM sets? Did they eventually put them on clearance to move them? With the exception of Benny's SSS, all of this stuff just collects dust at RRP/marked up RRP at my local TRU. They finally did get sell off their Lone Ranger and Halloween Bat sets during the Xmas rush...
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,794
Fairly certain they either do a local store clearance or they donate/ship them to an outlet store chain (like Goodwill or maybe a store like TJMaxx) It just seem though that TRU refuses to lower prices back to RRP often and refused to discount sets no longer made.
  • SprinkleOtterSprinkleOtter Member Posts: 2,779
Last Christmas my TRU had Galaxy Squad at about enough discount to be RRP. Even after having them 50% off the year before...
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
My TRUs have some TMNT and TLM on clearance, but their clearance still isn't enough to make me bite. 15% off of the already marked up price.

I was able to pick up some Lone Ranger on clearance about a year ago. Glad I did. Love the frontier stuff.

as much as TRU holds onto to these sets for dear life and much to our chagrin, it helps the collectors looking for older sets.
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366

The one near me has so many Hydra Fortress Smash sets that I'm waiting for them to cut it even more. At $42.98, I'm not biting just yet. I already have a copy for my personal collection. But with how many they have, they may have to eventually cut it even farther. They've done some decent cuts on some of the Chima sets recently, but not anything I'd want to buy at any price really.

  • goshe7goshe7 Member Posts: 515
^ I think they were an extra 20% off last week; about $35.  Getting close to [email protected] Black Friday price, but wasn't quite good enough for me.
