@Shpadoinkle I hope you don't have any reservations of sharing such coupons in the future. As I don't regularly buy from TRU unless there's a special promo poly, so don't even get to see these coupons pop up. So thank you for sharing as it has helped me personally (and by extension my nephews since I used it again yesterday for their gifts).

And during yesterday's experience, the coupon worked fine (scanned on phone) even though the cashier was hesitant and assumed it wouldn't work. Also confirmed that the coupon is only applicable to 1 item, not the full purchase. As I bought 2 of those SW Buildable Figures (Cody & Jango). But since they were marked up 10% each, the 20% coupon only meant a wash for RRP but with a free Hulk poly thrown in.

Well, I do know where the coupon shared by @Shpadoinkle originated.  These are "one regular priced item" coupons. I haven't seen any complete transaction coupons since the 30% off clearance coupons last year, which could be printed from the website.

Not a bad price for retired The Brick Bounty #70413.
  • BrickarmorBrickarmor Member Posts: 1,258
Some stuff is really cheap... I think this officially counts as a REAL TRU LEGO SALE! It's starting to hit SD so you may want to hurry. Don't forget the $10 off $100 with a Mastercard.
  • monstblitzmonstblitz Member Posts: 653
Yeah, real nice price on the Pirate Ship.  I don't know as I've ever seen a Lego pirate ship that cheap in any store let alone a TRU!  I picked it up in store to get the promotional storm trooper mini figure.
  • DedgeckoDedgecko Member Posts: 798
I should have waited, if I had known that the pirate stuff A.)Wouldn't get a second release and B.)Would be retired within 12 months of release

Mine isn't closing but had 30% off all TMNT, Lego Movie and I think Chima, and 20% off all pop star and jungle Friends sets.  #70809 and #70813 were both on clearance ($55.98 and $59.98 i think) and rang up with the 30% off so were ~$39 and $42 each.

I just had a bad experience at TRU. My store had a case of Brick Bounty's that came in the 7th. None were sold and they cannot find them anywhere. It was suggested by the person helping that they were either stolen or most likely hidden for a customer, so nobody could buy them. I am very irritated.

With Ninjago about to go against the Sky Pirates, I guess they had to kill off the Pirates theme...

Thanks all for the heads up.  I missed the deal on the Brick Bounty at the LEGO store, so I'm happy to be able to pick it up for $77.  I had $20 of rewards to use, too.
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,001
TRU's idea of a coupon is to get you in the store to then piss you off.....great use of coupon, huh?

I don't blame you.  That would drive me crazy.  Was there a manager you could have talked to?  Of course, they may have been in on it.

The deal is online too.  The stormtrooper poly isn't all that special if that's what you were trying to get.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
Scored a Brick Bounty for $76.99 since it was marked up to $109.99 before 30% off. And had the Stormtrooper thrown in.

I added the Brick Bounty in my cart and it said it was In Store only and the only store was the one I went to.

Every store in a 50 mile radius does not have them.

Has anyone tried WM?  There might be some available in your area at $74.  There are around Iowa....but that's Iowa.

  • TitanArchTitanArch Member Posts: 27
@scotty12 curious where in Iowa you might be.

As far as this deal goes, I saw one Brick Bounty at the TRU in Davenport.  They did not have the Stormtrooper and were offering C-3PO instead.  I haven't seen much of the Pirates at Walmart in Muscatine or Davenport since early Fall.  I grabbed one of the Brick Bountys when I saw them at $74.

I'd say your best bet to get the Brick Bounty at %30 off would be to try Target or Walmart. They price match, though you wouldn't get the 10 off 100, or the free trooper.

TRU (near me anyway) also ships from store to store for free- if you can find one relatively close to you, and don't mind waiting a week or so.

Ebay has $100 TRU GCs for $90. Stack em up!

^^This listing was live since yesterday.  The previous offers (15-20% off) were by Gift Card Mall and usually sold out by the end of the day.  This time it's 10% off and offered by PayPal.  Either PayPal has more available or 10% off isn't good enough to entice people to buy, including myself.

That said, 8% in eBay Bucks is now in effect for some accounts.  You'd have to add at least two cards or your order has to be more than $100 for the 8% to kick in.
  • BuriedinBricksBuriedinBricks Member Posts: 1,367
Oh yeah, THAT'S why I don't order from TRU. They had to have shipped it already like this. Shipping box had no damage and there was nothing else in there with it.

All of the TRU managers I've encountered will do what they can to get product out their door.  They really could care less about what coupon is being used - if there is something comparable or a similar offer, they have plenty of lattitude to get the sale to go through.

They mark stuff down to $0.03 and have to honor that price!

With Lego, video games and Star Wars products they pay attention because (theoretically) their store could be sanctioned for selling things before Street dates.
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 369
After waiting to see if perhaps my local TRUs would restock the pirates, I decided to just get the price match at Target for all 5 sets, and luckily only had to go to 2 stores to get them all.

I've been refused and the product has been confiscated and salvaged when I've attempted to buy $0.03 items.

There are usually 20% off coupons available for use in store.    I used the attached on Saturday with no problem.
thanks for sharing. aside from Lego, i was also able to purchase Splatoon Amiibo at 20% off.

Hmh, well, just got a delay notice from TRU after ordering during their 30% sale last week. Delayed, as in they don't have a ship date period. Order wasn't huge, just #30809 Lord Business Lair, but still.

Is this pretty typical of their online game?
  • FatMattFatMatt Member Posts: 502
Not uncommon for them to cancel orders on a set that has low stocks.

Yeah during the 30% off I had 2 items cancelled, nice thing though is for both items cancelled they gave me a $15.00 off coupon.  So basically I got $30.00 for them cancelling my items.
  • pansyppansyp Member Posts: 93
@SweepyD  At least that's something. By end of the day I got a shipping notice, so looks like their inventory and distribution systems may be a little janky (or struggling under the volume) Either that, or they found a 30809 in a back corner at the warehouse. We'll see what it looks like when it gets here! :D

Did manage to scramble through the TRU at Times Square yesterday along with about 100,000 others. What a mess. Shelves are getting empty with little on sale. The only thing I bought was just what I was looking for... The Statue of Liberty Polybag for 1.00! 40026! It had been 5.99 ... at least they said. Had been wanting one of these for years! Took photos of the huge builds and sorry to see them leave Times Square. Bye, store!

So no noteworthy sales to get rid of merchandise before closing?

Man, so many Tru stores closing. The one five minutes away from me is, too. They've moved almost all their stock to a different one already. Blegh.

they're just selling mostly items that would not be moved to other stores like New York souvenirs, t-shirts and the Lego Statue of Liberty poly. sadly, the taxi cab was discontinued a while back. they stopped receiving R zone items and Barbie days before Christmas but Lego and Star Wars merchandise was flowing in daily.Their top sellers of course.

All the new sets were out with the exception of the larger TFA ones and Skyline sets.  And only saw the Rey in the buildable figures.   I really liked the Deli.   They were all priced the same as in the Lego catalog
