I dunno about that.. Have you heard that Nexo knights is doing that poorly?
Im not a fan of it, but I would be kind of surprised that it would not be doing well.. Then again there is Chima...
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
I would bet actual money it will be 50% off before it is gone. Probably most if not all sets.
  • AanchirAanchir Member Posts: 3,044
I'm sure SOME Nexo Knights sets will end up on clearance simply by virtue of it being produced in such huge numbers. With that said, I don't know if I'd be willing to bet on MOST going to 50% off.

I actually haven't heard a lot of news about how LEGO Nexo Knights is doing in the shops, but then, I can't remember if we'd heard a lot of news of that sort about Ninjago by this time in 2011 either (the first real press release I remember that suggested Ninjago had hit it big was this one). There was a LOT of traffic for the LEGO Nexo Knights building event at my local TRU in February, but of course that's purely anecdotal. I am anxious to hear more about whether this theme's performance on TV and in the shops has been more like Ninjago or more like Chima.

I recorded the Nexo Knight TV show to watch with the kids and it's awful.  I'm usually a pretty big fan of the stuff Lego puts on TV but this is unwatchable.  The heroes are stupid, and I have no idea what's going on with the villains.  We made it through 2 episodes before I deleted it from DVR.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
my boys rather try to look for chima or Ninjago to watch,  and the worst case,  Comcast seems to move the Ninjago show on purchase list. make them look for the old comcast remote ( just switches to X1)

There's a gut instinctual feeling you get whenever a LEGO set or theme is introduced for the first time visually. For me, that immediate reaction is the child in me - thinking would I play with this or not? It's awesome to still feel that at 38 years old. Part of the power of LEGO.

My Nexo feeling was definitely negative - more or less thinking - I've read A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (9th grade I believe), and this is not what I imagined.

I think Lego was just trying too hard to do something new and innovative with this theme. Even after watching a couple of shows I still have no idea what's going on with this theme.  Who are the villains?  What's the deal with the stupid looking talking book?

I think kids and adults alike would have much preferred a new take on the classic Medieval theme.  It's very telling how much more my son prefers the CMF knight to the few Nexo Knight freebies we have acquired.

I play the game on my iphone and ipad, and am more compelled to buy a few sets.
So far, only bought one: #70327. (A giant knight mech? Yes, may I have another?)

But I haven't been tempted to buy any of the sets for the shields because this website has them all: http://www.spyrius.org/nexo/?nexo=00010101101010110010101101010110b413

Anyone else notice that TRU now has a locked cabinet for some of the Architecture sets and for Wall-E?

    I was totally confused!
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
Whenever I see a lock on something, I usually move on. Pure laziness on my part. I have no confidence they either have a key or knows someone at the store who can get it off.

Not sure how much of a deal these are but TRU has the following on 'sale':
(Apparently TRU is so lazy they no longer put the set names in the flyer, just list as 'assorted LEGO sets'with just their TRU item numbers now.)

    LEGO Elves Aira's Pegasus Sleigh #41077 26.39
LEGO Friends Heartlake Hot Airball #41097 15.99
LEGO Ultra Agents Hurricane Heist #70164 55.99
LEGO Ninjago Dojo Showdown #70756 21.59
LEGO Super Heroes The Hydra Fortress Smash #76041 34.38

Meh, my excitement wanes when it seems like only TRUs no where near where I live have these deals.
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,241
I get the sense this was a logistics problem in the Northeast.

More common are the super-reduced $0.03 markdowns at TRU.  (Although, I have only ever got one of those.)
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
Got a 20% coupon from TRU, so was checking prices of Technic sets... $95 above RRP for #42043... at least there is free shipping :)

^Per the other TRU thread, try to price match first, then see if they will apply the 20% discount (if you can do it in store).
  • MugenPowerMugenPower Member Posts: 638
It was a better deal a little more than a month ago when they were running 20% off all Technic sets and had a free Ninjago flyer set over a $XX Lego purchase.  They were at MSRP during that time, too... at least in-store.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
My local TRU closed last year...but whenever I'd try to have them price match and then use 20% discount.....I'd always get the line of "you can only use one or the other...not both."  But then again.....it's TRU...and anything is possible.  Can't hurt to try.
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 1,016
Not only is TRU super out of the way for me, but there prices and practices always seem to be different than what I'd want in a store.

I'm surprised so many people still shop there. I guess if you can get the right discount at the right time, it might be worth it, but my local TRU doesn't have any better stock than any other store that is nearby (and like I said, it is out of the way for me), so it is too much effort to look for some of these deals. I'd rather have cash than a TRU giftcard at 20% off just because I don't get to a TRU very often.
  • BuriedinBricksBuriedinBricks Member Posts: 1,367
The average shopper is not watching RRP as much as people like us. That is why stores with practices like TRU get away with what they do.

Our TRU stock is by far the most complete of any other store around...Targets, Walmarts not even close to what TRU has on the floor.

When your prices are higher than your competition, you will have more inventory!

^I'm referring to the breadth of inventory...outside of modulars and some exclusive they have it all...they even have the Slave 1, most likely on line returns, but 2 sets were there and that's the first time I've seen the set outside of pix.   And although they are more expensive, you can usually get it priced matched, but it is the place to go in my area to see most of what Lego has to offer.

Then I certainly hope you're  picking up 20%-off TRU Giftcards!

The wrong thread keeps getting bumped.  So, here we go

TRU running a promotion right now:

"save $5 on your LEGO construction purchase of $30 or more use promo code #979378 at checkout (excludes LEGO Dimensions and Hard to Find)"
  • 77ncaachamps77ncaachamps Member Posts: 2,442
Works on the May the Fourth Deal.

Got the Transporter for $50.99 after the $5 and then dropped it to $40.99 after redeeming a reward.

Yeah, plus I have a feeling those Fun in the park sets are going to be on sale a lot during its run, like most of the LEGO 'standard' sets

Absolutely amazed to see the #60132 Service Station at the $90 price.  Was really hoping that was a typo / error somewhere along the way.  Oh well.

Nope.. and the scary thing is that is LEGO's RRP, not TRUs, I have a feeling those will be on sale A LOT during their run.

Bunch of new sets at my local TRU.  Volcano crawler, volcano helicopter set. The creator lighthouse, that 700 piece camper van, tree house were there. Also saw the Airport starter set,  Vip plane with the limo, and fun in the park. Free capt America polybag for purchases of $30 and up.

Random question. If you price match a LEGO set at TRU will they still give you the promotion or not?
  • eggsheneggshen Member Posts: 602
My experience is that they will not. That is how their price match guarantee is set up. But as always YMMV.

All the new sets I saw were regular retail.  Tru usually waits for a few weeks. Usually.
