"Hello, My name's Tim, and I think I'm an AFOL"

Everyone else says "Hello, Tim"

I've been an AFOL ever since I met @warrenelsmore‌ and Kitty Elsemore in their previous lives in the IT industry. I'd just not been allowed to admit it to myself.

Having worked with them this week at BRICK 2014 as the staff manager (more about that later I guess) I've fallen in love with the LEGO Architecture Studio.

Kitty and Warren have introduced me to a bunch of lovely people in Mark Baillie, Dirk and Sonjia Plug, Paul Derrick (Rorke's Drift) this week. This whole experience has been amazing and I want to start doing my own MOCs, you never know I might have something to show one day.

    Welcome to the forum. I´m a LSW collector. What lego themes are you interested in?

    Thanks TarDomo for the welcome.
    I'm into the whole architecture thing and I'm currently awaiting the arrival of my Architecture Studio.
    I want my first MOC to be a representation of the ExCeL London where we held BRICK 2014 last week. You have to start somewhere and I figured that would be a suitable place to start.
    My plan is to start small, get the shape right and then start doing bigger and more detailed versions of it. It has interesting shapes at either end of a basically flat(ish) box.

    ^ Cool. I´m building a MOC, too. It´s a scene from SW episode 2 and I´m going to start small and hope it gets big. I think the project will last at least one year and I´m possibly making my first part orders in January.

    So I got the first version of it done on Friday afternoon. Tonight's task is to try doing it in Bricksmith so I can get a parts list.

    ^ How big is your MOC gonna be? I'm not sure about my own but I think I have to buy many baseplates. I'm starting with one grey baseplate anyway.

    Welcome Tim, sadly I didn't make it to Brick this year, but hopefully I will in 2015...

    Well, to a big amount of people here, it's grey. ;)

    Also, welcome!

    Thanks Folks.
    @Huw‌ Sad you didn't make it, but I'll be sure to tell you what I can about next year as things start to firm up.
    @EddieDoesntMind‌ Thanks for the welcome.
    @TarDomo‌ Not sure yet, but if I'm going to do the whole thing I think it will be fairly huge, about 4-6 feet long maybe.
