Has anyone officially opened their gifts yet?
If not, I'm willing to take the plunge, seeing as my Secret Santa made sure I got it in time by sending it with a specified Priority 2-Day delivery so it arrived on a Sunday (yesterday)!

I think the post office has everything defaulted to 2 day priority right now. They are trying to get everything delivered by Christmas. Thus the Sunday delivery and supposedly they are delivering on Christmas Day as well.
So, NO, you can't open your Christmas present!!!

Growing up we used to tear through everything as soon as we woke up but I've now embraced my girlfriends way of doing things. Her family pace themselves and open a present every couple of hours throughout the day. It's more rewarding but oh so hard.
My SS hasn't arrived yet but I think I'll open mine on Christmas Eve so that I can savour it before the madness starts.

@margot‌ Well, I'm afraid I have to because I won't be home for Christmas. :(

slovakiasteph's official decree: everyone may open their presents early! :)
Oh, and that "no peeking" wrapping paper! Doesn't say you can't open! ;)

@ColoradoBricks‌ - Presents have always been Xmas morning (usually accompanied with a croissant for breakfast) for me. I think my folks got the whole Father Christmas thing down right, for us Father Christmas bought a stocking of little gifts (the typical chocolate coins and traditional wooden toys/teddy bears etc) which were left at the foot of our beds, so we could open those when we woke up but had to wait for everyone to wake up before we could go downstairs where we got the proper presents which were labeled from Mum and Dad. Father Christmas didn't get to steal the glory in our house plus editable children were kept at least partially placated until adults were ready to get up ;-)

Me and @kioko21‌ are going to be over on the Isle of Wight for xmas so we agreed we'd open our secret Santa gifts (and finish our advent calendars like sneaky sneaks) before we go...but we are going to hold out until the day before!

Same as @shib, stocking of smaller presents at the end of the bed from father christmas and then main presents around the tree after breakfast. I still remember waking up at 3am and having #6061, #6040 and #6030 opened and built before anyone else was up. Downstairs I had #6074 and #6067 waiting for me.

Dammit...I updated my mac yesterday and that's the second ridiculous autocorrect it's done...grumblegrumble...
  • theLEGOmantheLEGOman UKMember Posts: 1,507
Apples auto correct is extremely annoying.
  • ShibShib UKMember Posts: 5,090
The really annoying thing is pre update I'd turned it off...haven't found where to turn it off since the update yet!

I've never found anywhere to turn it off. It constantly puts a space in the middle of my email address. Seriously annoying.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,332
Surely you can just add your email address to the dictionary, although given Apples love of making you do everything their way perhaps not.

Ever since our first married Christmas, Mrs Q and I have produced Father Christmas stockings (actually pillowcases) for each other, containing small pressies entirely separate from the "real" gifts we give each other. I'm proud to say that Santa always give her more pressies than he gives me. ;-) These are opened with tea and breakfast in bed. The rest of the gifts are taken to my in-laws, and opened in an extended "ooh ahh" fest in lat morning. Since her family likes to give, and receive, lots of gifts within the immediate family, this takes a while...don't tell her, but I just counted my gifts for Mrs Q; 12 from me, 9 from Santa. I may need to stop soon. :-)

Oh, and I received/opened my Secret Santa gift from work today; a £10 Lego Store voucher! Someone really knows and loves me! :-)

Nothing wrong with opening it early, the Death Star has been waiting since May for some Christmas build action. So nothing wrong with opening your SS gift a few days before to enjoy the build without rushing.

My package came today! And my SS lives in my favorite state: Kentucky!

Funny thing is...I almost bought this set the other day because TLM sets were on sale...but then thought "no, that would be a good one for my SS to get," so I didn't. This was the one TLM set I really wanted-- thanks, Kentuckian Secret Santa!image<img

It isn't me, but I'm Kentuckian born and raised... hats off to you SS, doing our state proud ;o)

It's not from me either, I currently live in Kentucky and am counting the days to get out. :-)

@margot‌ - I thought you were from Ohio? Why the eagerness to get out?! Best state in the country ;o)

@slovakiasteph‌ - I'm going to guess that their gift will be better then mine was last year ;o)

@samiam391‌ , I'm from Connecticut. (And downtown Seattle)

I got an unconfirmed rumored news that a team of so called scientific may or may have not discovered an ancient Mayo-Asto-Peruvian astrological calendar in the Swiss alps, here is the news link.
The interpretation of that calendar done by amateurs with insufficient data have all the signs of the world ending some day. That day might be today...

That should be a good enough argument to open your secret Satan gift right now! :)

    @jadedanc‌ Happy Birthday!

Also, I think I remember who was crafting those Lego ornaments for last year's gift exchange. :)

You are really lucky to get one of those custom decorations! Quite lovely.
