Lego Architecture and ICON build-off

Don't know if anyone else managed to get to this event this week but, if you did, were you as disappointed as I was?

The blurb on Facebook says: "As well as builing with LEGO Architecture bricks, you'll be able to see for yourself the LEGO models featured in Icon 098, the "Toys" issue. ICON asked some of London's top architects, including Foster and Partners, Adjaye Associates and FAT to remodel a building from LEGO Architecture series, which includes Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater and the Empire State Building."

So I was expecting some great redesigns from London's 'top architects'. However, what I got was seven utterly uninspiring builds, most of which could have been done better by a child!

You can view a couple of them here:, one of which has been cooked in an oven for 20 minutes! I'll try and scan the others when I get a moment.

I'd like to know what other people thought.

Well at least you helped explain why Prince Charles is such an outspoken critic of modern architects/architecture in Britain....

Nicely sums up everything that is wrong with a architecture today and the guys who cooked the LEGO need to seek help.

I'd still be interested to see the others though if you get chance to scan them in!

^^ Cam_n_Stu... that baked LEGO is an abomination... if I were to give it an "artistic" name, it would likely be something like this...

"Superman eats LEGO and has one helluva Kryptonian bowel movement." ;-)

Thanks for the link Cam_n_Stu, saved me some work! It's not immediately obvious from the photo but the top of the remodelled Whitehouse is sprayed silver...

Eh? Those models are dreadful. I've seen better creations in the lego club magazine! They should leave the lego buildings to the AFOLs next time!
