Dont normally have LEGO news stories in my field of work but this might be of interest to someone, especially the cruise ship building set.

MSC Cruises has announced a partnership with LEGO Group to bring LEGO-themed playrooms on its ships.

Separate kids club offerings will be available for different groups including a supervised DUPLO Play Pen for children under five, free time play for children aged five to 11 and the LEGO Vertical Play Wall where teams compete to build a figure the fastest.

Kids and parents can also join in with building the most impressive construction and play LEGO-branded games on consoles.

Children that take part will receive a Junior LEGO Master Builder certificate, and will also get the chance to have photos taken with new mascot Sailor Walkabout.

The first LEGO playroom will be on MSC Armonia which is currently being lengthened and refitted, followed by its two ships currently being built by Fincantieri and STX France.

“The LEGO Group and MSC Cruises are both family businesses recognised the world over, so our two companies are a great match. LEGO bricks and toys are close to the hearts of millions of people who grew up playing with them, and with this partnership we hope to give our younger guests some magical memories that they’ll treasure forever,” said MSC Cruises’ CEO Gianni Onorato.

MSC already sells LEGO toys in its retail outlets and under the deal LEGO will introduce a new MSC cruise ship building set.

I hope they don't flush their tanks at sea, or anything like that. It'll be greenpeace all over again ... :-)

Interesting, I've never fancied MSC cruises, though...
