new themes for lego city

Just purchased the lego city limo and helicopter and thought to myself that the rich and famous of lego city to my knowledge have never been represented in other sets. I thought a great new theme for city would a vip/or rich and famous theme with maybe a mansion set a hummer limo with a rapper or something maybe exec cars etc what you new themes would you guys like to see that have not been seen before? I for one am a little bored of the fire, police etc being redone every 5 yrs or so.

I would like to see a series focused on commercial and municipal buildings. There is not much variety in what has been avalable so far. The Town Plan and Modular Buildings help, but reworking some of the old Town buildings (burger stand, motorcycle shop, etc.) would be interesting and appreciated.

@devilhead yeah they would be good I guess some creator houses help in this regard aswell. I though a great theme from a few yrs ago was traffic and would love to see this expanded.

I don't know how people would feel about lego promoting the 'celebrity lifestyle' to kids, seems to remove some of the innocence of childhood obsessions with being a fireman/policeman etc, that said, having had pop figures in the collectible series they could make great use of the accessories. Such as a tourbus with pop band and a concert with pop group using the electric guitar and microphone accessories. A lego boyband using the sweepy mop hair would be hilarious.

I think a double decker paddle boat would make a nice addition, the type used as ferries and river casinos.

Another thought would be a prison, an obviously larger piece it would be. It could contain towers, a yard and come with multiple minifigs and a couple transport vehicles as well?

Perhaps a 5 story parking garage?

*Drive-Thru Coffee Shop
*Schoolhouse
*Courthouse
*Lego Store (yes, a Lego version of a Lego store)

^Drive-thru coffee shop?!! How dangerous is that?! 1. That you are attempting to purchase a boiling hot beverage from a car and 2. that you will attempt to drink it whilst driving that car as well! Is it really that hard to park your car and go into a shop?

I don't know how hard it is andhe, but drive-thru coffee shops are literally EVERYWHERE in America. I probably drive past 4 or 5 different ones on my 10 mile commute to work. And yes, I've drank hot coffee while driving many many times. I have yet to burn myself thankfully

I'd like to see some street vendors or merchants....
hot dog stand,
flower vendor,
bicycle rental,
newspaper/magazine stand,
shoe shine stand

- these could be in the form of small cart shops, kiosks or small free standing shop buildings. I prefer these over 'store front only' sets, although they would be welcome too.

In line with the limo (which I missed out on), how about:
Taxi
Animal Control (Dog catcher)
Delivery vehicles (pizza, UPS/FedEx type van)

I'm sure I could come up with more... ;oP

There's a fairly recent hot dog stand isn't there? And my kids have a bike/skate shop in the rather ace City Corner set.

Agreed, a flower shop would be nice, in fact a little open air market with a few stalls all in a set would be lovely.

Also a fountain like you find in big city squares, you could make it all pretty but put some families/bikes/prams/benches for a little bit of playability.

Some smaller city sets would be nice (rather than the influx of suggested franchised drive-thru America... :P) and if we're talking families kids anf prams, it's about time there was a proper lego baby mould!

The set just seems over done and needs freshness in it. My three year old loves trains, and is really enjoying the lego building he and I do during his brother's nap. I think we are going to buy a giant table and build a lego train set that travels through a city. So I started looking and well for as old as the set is I have to say it is pretty limited.

I'd love some more small sets too. The bbq stand is ace, and the little icecream truck someone just pointed out from years ago is lovely. And so satisfying for small kids to build.

I'd like to see a series of religious buildings - church, mosque, synagogue, .... I can understand that LEGO may want to stay away from showing any kind of affiliation or preference along those lines, but they are an important part of society and can add a lot visually to any town/city. If there were a variety of building types, people could buy whichever one was appropriate for them. (And if they produce a modular-building-scale Gothic cathedral, I'll buy it in a second).

Would love to see more variety like others have posted:

- Shopping center
- Restaurants (with a proper kitchen)
- Recreation (parks,
- Schools

I doubt some of the other items discussed would ever be considered. Lego will likely not put out religious sets, even if they include all the most "popular" ones. So church sets probably aren't on the horizon...even though it would be great if they made Westminster Abbey or Notre Dame. Also...a prison is doubtful...but would be cool.

all ideas seem to be great ideas...but also some of the ones with more detail and more pieces don't seem to apply to lego's ultimate piecing for their current town buildings. Much of them include bulky pieces that are good for thin walled buildings lacking detail. I think we'd all love a kitchen in a restaurant...but then again that what legos are for to make your own. I think a parking garage is a particularly great idea, but I also see where my comment of do it yourself so applies. That being said, I would look to do so.

However, it does seem odd that they don't promote a school, or courthouse since it seems to be a big theme in many lives. Seems like a good idea to me.
