Anyone use multiple avengers tower sets to make a bigger/grander version? I have a second one but have not decided to make it wider or taller. Would love to see what others have done with multiple avengers tower sets.

There was one recently on the MOC thread
    They went tall
Probably the same route I go but widen it to a more "modular" standard

I took my Avenger's tower and put it on top of the barbershop portion of the Detective Office set. Fits almost perfectly with a small edge that needs to be covered (where I put the bat signal.... hey in my Lego world DC and Marvel can play nice).

After having seen the movie, I think LEGO should have made the Hulkbuster set the one at the $50 price point. Then they would have had the flexibility to make it right.

Nice.  Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne can make business deals while getting a hair cut.
i guess I better get the Dectectives office soon.

Thanks. I looked it up after you mentioned it (luckily, it was more recent).
I am tempted to get two more (total of 4) to make it taller and fatter.

I've been putting together designs on LDD
It's kinda hard to make the curved windows look good if it's too wide
My solution so far has been to give it a wider base then do the official set (or 2 or 3) on top to give it the pointy tower look
Of course, this is pretty much based around having to cram a lot onto the floor designated as Ironman's workshop/garage (5-6 Ironman suits, Hulkbuster, workspace, and at least one über expensive car)

You guys know that the Avengers Tower would have to be wide as the new Quinjet to be the right scale. That would also need you to MOD the Quinjet to make that accurate :)
  • SolariousSolarious Member Posts: 317
It doesn't have to be to a real scale
    It can't possibly even close
I do want it bigger to make it a little more accurate though- and to give me more interior space

I decided to go high so now it has 6 floors but ran out of the trans blue pieces and windows for the lobby.  I had to just use what I had (gray and black, yes black...that was all I had at the moment).  I did make the lobby extend out so that there is another balcony above it.  Hopefully I can get lucky by finding the set of clearance later on or on ebay minus the figures for cheap.

@ReesesPieces I loaded some photos of my double hight avengers tower in the MOC building thread, works out very nice, needs a little creativity around the base but more or less you can do it with prices from both sets, I think I used a hand full of grey 1's to supplement the build and that was all.
i found if you went wider it looks silly without going higher as well, and if you just go high, anything more than another couple of floors also looks silly and out of proportion with the other full Lego buildings. Good luck, a fun little MOC ahead of you.

Isn't it more fun if they all fight with each other? That's what Batman VS Superman is all about.

Does anyone else hate the way Wolverine has to hold his claws? I took some pictures  of Wolverine outside today and those claws drive me nuts. They look terrible! Why didn't LEGO design special hands with claws attached? I try to be a purist but I think I'm going to superglue some claws to the back of hands just so I can do my LEGO photography.

Yes, this rant is from left field but I had to rant to somebody.

I think it's pretty difficult for Lego to design specialty hand parts--look at how few of them there have been over the years. I think the main issue with a hand-with-claw mould would be the thinness of the claws and/or the weakness to snapping at the point where claw meets hand. Another thing to think about is, how is a kid supposed to play with Wolverine retracting and extending his claws if they're attached to the hands? Lego obviously can't include alternate hands with a set.

If they can make a boxing glove hand or a catcher's mitt hand or a hook, they can make hands with claws. They're LEGO! They can do anything!

^ I think what @MODVLEX is trying to get at is that TLG went with the option they did, as it allows the individual to choose if Wolverine has his claws extended or retracted. Personally, I prefer this option more than the idea of permanently affixed claws.

    Yup, exactly.

But anyway, the real difference between a boxing glove and a clawed hand would be the integrity of the mould I imagine. Claws at that scale would probably be tough to make sturdy enough. Remember, it's gotta be played with!

Just read Martin Freeman has been cast in an as-yet unspecified role in Civil War. Tennant, Cumberbatch and Freeman now all involved in MCU projects!
    I am very happy :-)

(Much happier than when I read there are plans for a new Indiana Jones movie. I believe the word "reboot" was bandied about :# )

^it's amazing how many Doctor Who actors have appeared/going to appear too - in addition to Tennant, Christopher Eccleston in Thor 2, Karen Gillan in GotG,  Jenna Coleman in Captain America (admittedly only a bit part) I forget his name, but the guy who played Armin Zola played a DW villain - definitely a lot of them move between the two.
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
    ^ Toby Jones was Zola

Thank you...I'm awful with actors names, normally not bad with characters names. Often when I'm talking films with people I end up saying stuff like "It has that guy in it who played <random obscure character no one remembers> from <crappy 80s/90s film that no one remembers>

I like to remember actors' names and what random films they were in in case I ever go on Pointless.

^ It only makes these films better by having notable actors. Not to say that only bad actors are in bad movies, but these appears to be no taboo in taking on an obviously commercial role.

    Can't wait for Dr. Strange!

Why would you ever want Wolverine not to have his claws out?

Can we get a superhero CMF already? There are just too many Heroes and villains that would be awesome to have but will likely otherwise never happen because sets are already filled with yet another Ironman, Batman, Captain America, ect. Marvel or DC- I don't care A set of each in a year would be best obviously and I would be way way way more interested in this then yet another Simpsons set I don't care one bit about Hell, they could blow a whole line on just the Green (and other color) Lantern Corps or (more in line with the original topic) X-Men, Avengers other then the big 5 or 6, or simply all villains
It would only work if they have characters that cannot or most likely won't ever appear in a set. Now that we are getting over 30 superhero films in the next 6 years it shown that we will get those new characters so there is no need.

I was watching a video on You Tube of every unlockable character in the  LEGO Batman 3 video game. LEGO could do a  DC CMF line if they made physical incarnations of all of those characters, many of which I highly doubt would ever end up in a set.

Yes, I saw it after solarious had mentioned it.
Looks great and I decided to go your route.
i like your lobby with the front desk.
It is a fun MOC and I'm very tempted to get couple more sets to expand the tower even more.
