Well my kids love the "tree monster" so be prepared to have to put him back together a few times (though he pretty sturdy).

Waiting waiting waiting for Pirates. It's kind of anti climatic really. I'll have two copies of each set soon and rip through one copy to build everything.

Then I have to wait another what? 5 or 6 years? Maybe more...

I better enjoy this exciting time while I can.

Maybe we'll get a second wave of Pirates?

Isn't there going to be a new Pirates of the Caribbeans movie (rather) soon? Maybe we have a chance that is going to increase the sales of all pirates-related sets and so there IS going to be a second wave?

Or maybe it's just wishful thinking.

Anyway... So I finally bought the Mill Village Raid (yay!), along with a missing part for my Black Seas Barracuda, 30210, 850449 and no less than 23 minifigs. ^^; Ahem. Bricklink will be the ruin of me.

Now I really have to take a break from buying LEGOs.

Just been paid and trying not to buy the DS before the double VIP promotion in March.  I've already been to the S@H page about 10 times already today!

I literally have to stop. Came out of the dark ages in January. Bought the Pet Store, Detective's Office, Palace Cinema, a few smaller Lego Movie sets (DD Couch, Police Chase, etc), several Star Wars Micro Fighters, the Death Star, and then capped it off with a used Town Hall for $325 (complete...going to the Post Office today to pick it up. Hope it's in decent shape).

That said, I'll probably buy the Parisian Restaurant when double VIP hits.

    Sigh.

Dark Purple leaf elements from the Elves sets for my fantasy forest MOC. I have about 50 so far, debating whether I should scoop of some of the low priced ones House of Logos just added....

Also (trying) to save up for Tower of Orthanc to buy during double VIP points next month. Target clearance Hobbit sets have made that difficult, and I've been eye-balling some BoFA sets that are at 30% off at my nearest Target. Don't know if I could get them before they're gone or see if they go 50% this Thursday.

@LegoTT I think the "getting out of the dark ages" comes with "mass-buying". At least, I'm in the same case. The only thing preventing me to buy anything now is the 2x VIP points starting on March 14.

I'm still unsure what I'm going to buy during the 2x VIP... I'm eyeing the Easter set, the Elves (at least one set to get the freebie), Santa's Workshop, the Tower of Orthanc and the Ewok village. I have a good two weeks to think about it and hope I don't end up buying all of them. Ahem.

I did the same last year when I first came out. Started with the PR, then PS, then FB, then TH, then GE and HH, then PC, then DO, then WVM, with some road plates and tiny sets (below $40) in between. Now I'm looking at the Tower Bridge and hoping for discounts.

Coming out of the dark ages is dangerous.

Since building the small bulldozer I'm hooked on Lego. Looking on eBay at the prices for second hand kits are shocking! I've just bought the mk 11 crane from tesco's direct reduced to £102 quid also with my clubcard vouchers added I paid £87.00 absolute bargain!!!!!

Just bought a Tumbler last night at a Bargain Hunt for only $120! Couldn't pass up on that deal.

Started to purchase the City Arctic theme. I received a couple #60064 Arctic Supply Planes in the mail and just ordered #60036 Arctic Base Camp and a couple #60035 Arctic Outposts. I will look to pick up the rest this weekend. Such a nice looking theme.

Where did you find the Supply Planes?  Having just built the Base Camp I'm craving more arctic sets.

I bought them from ebay for $100 each. I'm hoping to eventually sell my second copy down the line to reduce the cost of my aftermarket purchase. Really stinks to have missed this one while it was still available at retail :(

Hopefully finally buying Death Star tomorrow when Double VIP starts! It's taken some serious self control not to buy it straight after pay day at the end of Feb.  Will probably take me the entire weekend to build it!

I've just finished building my Death Star.
  • cheekymunk3ycheekymunk3y Member Posts: 108
how long did it take you @theLEGOman ?
  • theLEGOmantheLEGOman Member Posts: 1,524
    I think I built it over 4 or 5 nights, bags 1 first, 2 + 3 next, 4 + 5 next then 6 and 7. A couple of nights i finished around 2am. Maybe starting between 6-8 pm each night.

Probably over 20 hours, i may have been lining up all the studs in a slightly OCD fashion and watching/listening to films on Amazon Prime at the same time though.

I've set aside most of tomorrow to start it.  Was considering doing what i did with the SSD and building with my friend.  SSD had a lot of parts that could be built separately and then attached.  Are there many parts of the Death Star that could be done like that?
  • theLEGOmantheLEGOman Member Posts: 1,524
You build the floors in 4 sections, but they are all in the same numbered bags but some bits are separate, eg the Tie in the hanger, the cannon and some others which could be built separately from the floor and added before the floor above, not really something that would be easy to build in multiple locations though, without a lot of sorting before hand.

All the walls are built one brick level at a time in general, so its not something that would be easy to do in multiple places without alot of waiting around for the other person before you could move to the next floor.

Oh well, guess i'll be doing alone then!  Cheers for the info.
Guess I also need to make some room somewhere for it, I imagine it will be bigger than i'm expecting once built, like everything else.

If you don't want to keep flipping it over, the manual requires a huge amount of space as well.

Just bought the Simpsons House as I have been waiting for the double points. Going to the Lego Store Friday for my birthday with the spouse for the Detective Office and some individual bricks. Also would like at least the demolition kit or a train set for my city. There is a high speed passenger train set at the local TRU and I may bite the bullet on that one today if it is still there considering and hoping it is still 20% off.

Just bought my first Ninjago sets a couple days.  Which are #70724 NinjaCopter (30% off),    #70720 Hover Hunter ( $4 off), and #5002144 Dareth vs. Nindroid from TRU.com
I can see why this theme is so popular.

@joel4motion Manchester Arndale store. There was no one else in the store and I just got chatting whilst paying for the death star. I mentioned I liked the winter soldier fig but didn't plan on getting the helicarrier so they sneaked it into my bag with the death star.

So after 20 years I decided to buy myself some Lego and bought the Mini & VW Camper van over Christmas and loved the detail. Decided to buy more this weekend when the double VIP points started and purchased the Palace Cinema & Detective's Agency, I'm worried I might have a problem as I'm already wanting to buy the Pet Shop.

^BUY the Pet Shop now if you can. It's the next modular to get retired so prices will go up when that happens. I just started collecting Lego this January and totally missed out on Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade and Town Hall.

This was my first 2xVIP promo experience so I went a little nuts. I picked up Tumbler, Red 5, Lonely Mountain, Parisian Restaurant, Avengers Quinjet Chase, Tower of Orthanc and the $10 Elves set so I can get the free promo. I would have bought a Palace Cinema or Pet Shop if I could find it in an actual Lego Store.

Yeah I'd say a little nuts  ;)  I remember my first six months as an AFOL.  This was early 2012 when exclusives were discounted and Toys R US ran BOGOs regularly (no exclusions).  Those were the golden days.  Now people get overly excited about 2xVIP
