I'm not finding polybags for Batman anywhere in my town. Found a wall of TLBM stuff at TRU. Holy GOD the markups I had forgotten about how much TRU buttf--ks its consumer base. I did pick up a couple of other things that were still at LEGO RRP. I'll shoot em tomorrow. The Adventure Time IDEAS set was one of em.

you know i think there was better deals to be had on lego before christmas.
now it like a ghost town for lego deals!

@stlux - Just want to explicitly state that I love that you're so committed to this hobby and have such a great collection which you share with us on here - I greatly value your contributions. I know I put a smiley after my last couple of posts but I think it's worth giving credit where it is due! :-)

I have not bought anything recently as the post-Christmas sales have been mainly on Lego that I already have, and it's hard to justify a 2017 Marvel set when it's sat next to three 2016 sets which are on offer, that I already have and bought at full price.

We'll see what 2017 brings! I'm a patient man. Sometimes.

@blogzilly I wasn't expecting to find any Batman polybags in the area where I live, so just try the stores near you.

^ It was mentioned in the US Target thread I believe, but I found some Batman poly bags in the Valentine section. $3.99.

I think I just turned down another expensive road...WOOOOOT! These will be my first Mixels, a suggestion from a few Bricksetters. It was suggested I could loosen my MOC intimidation by exploring the theme and creating a few of my own. Gonna try it out.

  • blogzillyblogzilly Member Posts: 598
Oops! Almost forgot, picked this up last night too. One of the things I got for ACTUAL suggested retail price at the evil lick my taint ToysRUs. Grumble grumble grumble.....

Fortunately, I am not, so I will stick with the minifigs from the dimensions packs as that doesn't tick any of my boxes (up until the dimension packs came out, I'd never even heard of it).
As for what I've been buying, got my grubby little mits on #75172 from Toys'R'Us to use up my £20 voucher.
This has been a most welcome addition to the collection and am really looking forward to building it, so much so that it has been put on the top of the 'to build' pile and if time allows, it might even get built before the christmas sets get taken down. :)

I wish City Police would go black and White one day.

Picked this up on a whim today. I like whims. Breaking precedent and building it now during the Ohio State game. I have yet to see Rogue One, but this ship makes me think of the kind of thing Batman would fly if he were in the Star Wars Universe. I'm considering getting the pieces to do an all black one and a BaTIE Pilot. WOOT.

yeah, not too fond of the trans blue glasses as well. and the criminals always have red vehicles? so that lego policemen know that all red vehicles are driven by criminals?

I just ordered Assembly Square and got the Brick Bank for free with this years VIP points.

Just ordered #40236 for myself and some of my grandchildren, and got a Mini Batwing for myself as well.  :-)
  • blogzillyblogzilly Member Posts: 598
I found Berlin yesterday and ordered Chicago last night. Batwing to patrol both. Then I ordered Slave 1 on Amazon. Very tempted to order the Batman stuff on LEGO Shop but need to wait for some discounts. I want that Croc truck. Vroom VROOOOOOM!

The February 2015 issue of "LEGO Life" had this to say about the police color schemes:

"'We've spent some time over the past few years running tests in China, and we had an
idea that it would prove challenging with requests for different colors and designs and that it would be a different way of playing. But we learned that a boy and girl in China are like boys and girls in the rest of the world. They love the product, and there's no need to change it to achieve a more eastern aesthetic,' says (LEGO City design director) Ricco Krog, pointing out that in the US, police cars are often black and white. But if you ask American children what color their police cars are, they are most likely to say white and blue."

LEGO did experiment with black and white police cars and stations in the World City theme as well as the early days of the City theme, but evidently the blue and white color schemes have been much more popular and enduring around the world.

@Aanchir I understand that it just won't happen. Intereresting that in The LEGO Movie the Bad Cop drove a black and white cop car though. So I only half believe the statement that was given mind you...because there seems to be a bit confusion. ;)

I picked up the assembly square this morning when the Lego store opened up. I used max VIP points and only had to pay $5.xx out of pocket. Now to find the time to build it.

Saved up my VIP points for a while, I still have $100 worth to use. I kept saving them because they were giving double points evert time I would purchase something.

I don't mind the blue and white police, that's completely accurate for where I live.

Placed my first BrickLink orders in ages (okay, a bit under 3 months, but as a seller I get a lot of what I want from my own inventory)

One was for minidoll parts, several legs and a few heads, to make full figures with my spares. The store also had a cheap S16 Rogue minifig, which I'm army building with.

One was mainly for minidoll seats (part 93095, 1x2x1 panel with center divider), for various Friends projects. The seller had a large quantity cheap. I also got 2 green 1x2 tiles for my soccer field, and some parts for my chess set - white and blue round 2x2 for bishops, white 2x2 inverted corner slope (part 3676) for the castles (should look better than regular inverted 2x2's).

Got #41004 Rehearsal Stage for $15 at Walmart's clearance section...not the best buy, but it is worth for a stage and for furniture for a modular.
I got that for $16.24 shipped off BrickLink a few months ago, so $15 isn't bad. I'm surprised you found a set that old in store. Less popular retired sets can be had for below MSRP but not the kind of discounts often seen on current sets. It, #3932, and #3939 go with Pop Star.

@blogzilly tell us how you really feel about TRU jacking up retail price. :P

I do count VIP points as a discount but I don't want to double dip mentally because it also feels like a discount when I accumulate them. Gift card spednign I could like regular money.

@KingAlanI sorry I guess I was a bit raunchy in two places. I was dizzy after seeing that Batman display and it's markups. Thank God my kids weren't around.

I am a vulgar man, but I assure you, my LEGO is not. ;P

Picked these up from my local Auchan store today:

#70736 was bought to add the Morro Dragon to my small collection of dragons, and have a worthy adversary for my #70734 Master Wu Dragon and #70593 Green NRG Dragon.

#31026 Bike Shop & Cafe I thought I had missed, so was happy to see they had 1 on the shelf that looked like it had been  recovered from a forgotten corner of their warehouse.

I already have the 3 polybags pictured, however I picked up some more to have some spare ones for trading or stocking fillers :)
  • dspigeldspigel Member Posts: 478
I spent a good while feeling for Batman CMFs. I did pretty well, I'm just missing 2 for the set. I hope I find Red Hood and March Harriet in the next few weeks.

Finally picked up #21023.  I also picked up Lego Star Wars  The Official Stormtroopers Training Manual from Scholastic.  It is really a cute read,

Well, there it goes; first purchase(s) of the year:

    From the LEGO Store:

    - #70902 Catwoman Catcycle Chase (cat fight! cat-bat fight! bat-cat fight! Robin, get out of the way!)
    - #31058 Mighty Dinosaur (love me some dino! will wait for the mandatory 20% off to get two more copies)
    - #70372 Nexo Powers Pack (was 2c low to get the mini batwing promo)
    - #30524 The Mini Batwing (my 2nd mini one)

Also, as you can see below, got The LEGO Batman Movie Accessory Pack. The store did not have the materials for "the game" so she was asking people batman trivia (I think only to people that asked for it). The question I got was: "What is the real name of the Batgirl with the red hair?"

    From TRU:

    - #30546 Krypto Saves the Day (x2)
    - #5004281 Angry Kitty Key Light ($5.98)

    (Please, excuse the mess)

This came today. From FedEx guy covered the top half of the shipping box in a garbage bag, set the rest in a puddle in my porch. NICE. Oh and rather than get my panties in a twist, guess what's gonna be showing up in the What Are You Building thread in a short while?

That's pretty crappy, it's nice to see you are in good spirits over it. If the manual and stickers are still good, then I guess it will be ok.
  • SprinkleOtterSprinkleOtter Member Posts: 2,780
^^ Did they just slap a label on the box?
  • AanchirAanchir Member Posts: 3,044
At this point it looks less like a box and more like a sleeping bag! Hopefully all the contents inside are OK!

^^^^ Wow! That takes the biscuit...

I made my first purchases of the year as well today... Popped up to the Stratford LEGO Store during my lunch break and grabbed two 2017 calendars, #60150 Pizza Van and my first Architecture set, #21034 London.

If I extrapolate my current buying (2 sets in 4 days), I'll have another 182.5 sets by the end of 2017! I'll see how close to a total of 492 I get. ;-)
  • blogzillyblogzilly Member Posts: 598
Well, thankfully the manual was a sealed one. Were it not? I'd be a howling mess. Just lucky I guess. I can always shop for an overpriced box on eBay. It'll end up as if I paid RRP for the item. Such is life. She's halfway built, occurred to me during building that I've actually never built an X-Wing before...EVER. Various TIEs, A-Wings, B-Wings, misc ships and settings, no Y-Wings, X-Wings or Millennium Falcon.

Got this in my mailbox, no rain issues. Now THIS is, to me, the perfect BrickLink order. Packing Slip, lots of baggies separating like colors, I LOVE it!

when i was still in my dark age. i got 3 lego set's for fun. on a impulse buy,
    the 3 set's was,
    #7965 Millennium Falcon,
    #9500 Sith Fury-class Interceptor,
    #70705 Bug Obliterator,
got them from amazon. about 18 months before the end of my dark age.
#70705 turned up in a right state. the other 2 in the same box was ok but #70705 box had water damage not as bad as that x-wing box it was still sealed. as luck turned out for me it was also one of the set's that has the manual in a bag, with the stickers as well.  when the box was dry again it was miss-shaped.

that one there. that x-wing box. is the same size. box as the #70705, but i think #70705 was a little bit deeper.
however that x-wing box is a right off. no use to anyone.

on a side note. looking back at how i placed the stickers on my Millennium Falcon, i can not help but feel unhappy with it. it look like a 7 year old did it. :(

I think, I THINK! .... that you're Fedex guy might hate your guts.

    Just a theory.
  • blogzillyblogzilly Member Posts: 598
The Fedexers come and go like waiters sadly. You can't get to know em. The last USPS dude, Jeff was super cool at my old house. Even though I was gone by well before Thanksgiving I gave him a Christmas gift with some cash in it on my last day there.

Not sure yet about the USPS dude or gal here. It's the same zip code. But so far I've seen one dude a few times and a girl the rest. The dude is kinda gruff, the gal loves me. I'm friendly with her too since she tries to be friendly back. I'm hoping she ends up being permanent.

Got a Slave 1 and U-Wing today from said USPS that I'm returning to Amazon. I ordered separately so that this would NOT happen. What did they do? Even though I ordered them a day apart? Shipped them in the same fuggin box and they compressed and scratched each other. Now they have to pay for two separate shipments back because it was two different orders.

Amazon, you schmucky tried to save a buck at the expense of my LEGO. Now it's gonna cost you more. Who's laughing now? WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!?!?!

That was funny. I like it!

Still buying. Here's some stuff that came with no dents or water! WOOHOO! The Dimensions set was in a box, I've already prepped it for play.

  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,354
I don't keep boxes so I'm OK with damage on a complete set but that's ridiculous.
I also built various SW but not x-wing. KFOL me didn't get #7140 / # 7142 because even $30 was expensive then (did so much stuff like that). Now I might get #75149 (on sale at for $54.99 and I could sell the figs). Like how I didn't have big castle models but got #41180

As a BL seller I don't use packing slips. I look at the order page when sorting, and write the order number to help the buyer keep track. I get a lot of small orders, relatively easy to handle and hard to fit a regular sheet of paper in the envelope. Sometimes I'm near a weight threshhold. Even my small bags are relatively large so I don't sort so precisely, but larger orders are generally logically split between multiple bags and labeled. I hadn't thought of putting little bags in a large bag for shipment, worth considering.

First Superheroes purchases (two retired DC set) for 2017 have us at -14.30%. Paid AU $60.00 for #76040 Brainiac Attack (RRP was $39.99) & $100.00 for #76028 Darkseid Invasion (RRP was $99.99). Not as bad as it could have been, still cheaper than BrickLinking all the minifigures.

Hey @KingAlanI that one at Target you mentioned buying. Would you mind after you gently cut the tape seals selling me that box? ;)

Thats the one that got me.

And it's cool you don't send a packing slip I just love it. Any reference to the order, even a number written on the envelope, is righteous melons.

Oh and what's your store? Maybe I can support the cause...
  • kmckmc Member Posts: 13
Hey @blogzilly if you don't get your hands on that box, I can ship you my one next time I get back stateside.
(btw... what "is righteous melons" !?! )
  • chrisalddinchrisalddin Member Posts: 3,041
i love my mum, thank you mum.
    with my mum's help.

Order placed for the last one John Lewis had in stock.

1x #10251 Brick Bank for £110.00. (RRP on shop@home (as of the 3rd Jan 2017) is £129.99) saved £20. witch is way more then if i got it from lego with 2x VIP.
2x vip would get you 259 points works out at about £13, so i saved about £7 if it was 2x vip. as right now it not 2x vip on shop@home. i would only get 129 points so about £6.50  and there for saved £13.50, Go Me! :)

btw, bookmarking an out of stock page on a website and looking as it when ever you remember to, can pay off big time. this was, as i said before, the last one, and it's been showing as out of stock for 2 days. my guess some one card bounced. sad for them. Grate for me. :)
