I envy people who have piles of unopened Lego. I tend to save up for ages, buy a modular I want, build it over a few days, and spend the rest of the time saving up for the next modular. Must be nice to have lots of disposable income.

Break it down and try building something else with the parts. Lego doesn't have to be a single use product.

I want to build a city for display though. If I keep taking the buildings apart and rebuilding them there'd be no city, just a pile of colorful bricks.

Never thought of the baseplated and road plates I would want for a proper cityscape or city block or two...hmmm. Time to start BL'ing!

My thought as well, this sounds like a perfect recipe for creativity - the time you have to wait until you buy a new set, the limited number of bricks you have, and the desire to build! And you can always have your city back when you have enough sets, its not like taking a building apart is irreversible...

My LEGO Hauls in 2015 so far...

    LEGO Haul 1 (2015)

Sadly all Santa's Workshop orders have been cancelled due to overwhelming demand. So no Santa's Workshop for me :(

The Flower Cart was a bonus but I'm unhappy that the Brickley Key Chain when down to £1.49 when I got it for £2.09...

    LEGO Haul 2 (2015)

    LEGO Haul 3 (2015)

    LEGO Haul 4 (2015)

£2.23 each at Argos. Finally I have completed a LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series, but after that my fingers were in deep pain...

Contemplating buying an aftermarket Town Hall or a UCS Hellicarrier during the Vip release. Just can't decide!
  • SuperTrampSuperTramp Member Posts: 1,021
^A Town Hall now, longer you wait on it the more its going to go up. You will have around two years to buy the Helicarrier at RRP.

I bought a new #75005 Rancor Pit, a second one from EBay without minifigs and a #9516 Jabba's Palace from Ebay to sit on top, basing the model on one of several MOCs online.

I'm working on picking up random pieces to build a model of my house. Not quite sure what I am getting myself into, but owning a bunch of sand green bricks isnt a bad deal if i cant complete it!

I want to do that soon. I saw the set up and it looks awesome.
It looks like the way the Series sets are supposed to look like: i.e., Mos Eisley needs other similar town builds to form an actual backdrop for the themed figures/sets.

Went to the metro centre store today and they had a Slave I on the shelf so I grabbed it. Also picked up a couple of sale items (calendar and Santa with Xmas tree) as well as the flower cart

Bought lots of Friends and Chima sets at 50% off. A great price here in Sweden! I'm using them for parts, so I started to sort some of it. Also found #30272 and #30274 today at a grocery store. Yay!

Trying to track down a Town Hall for a decent price. Thought about getting the Hellicarrier next month, but I think I'm just getting back into Lego and think I enjoy the modulars more than large spaceships. Hoping to land a used TH for ~$300 on eBay.

I've placed an order with my local toy shop for the Technic Mercedes truck coming out in the summer. I haven't seen a picture of it yet and I don't know how much it will cost but when the only one they've ordered gets into the store; it's mine.

^ Good call, it looks to be a brilliant set. I believe it was priced at £169.99 and contains in the region of 2700 pieces.

^ I am very excited @CapnRex101‌ as I've never bought any of the larger Technic sets before. You must have seen it at the Toy Fair; is it true it has a tick-over noise built in?
  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 Administrator Posts: 2,364
^ I don't think any sounds are built in separately (or intentionally), they are just a result of the motor and pneumatics working, like many similar Technic sets.

^the last #70813 Rescue Reinforcements at s@h in the US, at least according to the customer service rep I talked to this morning. I foolishly thought I'd find one in my local Lego store on Sunday. When I didn't, I called first thing Monday morning and got the last one in the system. Now we'll see if it actually ships.

Just been raiding the clearance sections at different store. Here's one from a week or two ago with one of my kids. He's smiling like that because he knows he's getting some Ninjago out of this deal!

@CapnRex101 Besides the Birds and a few Collectible Minifigures I haven't got much this year. I plan to save my money for MOC's that will be displayed at Brick 2015. I may make one or two purchases for my own collection after I have completed the MOC's but some limited edition sets like Collectible Minifigures and LEGO Ideas sets may make way in to my pocket before then. I hope to see you there :)

What happened to your Arkham Asylum MOC...
  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 Administrator Posts: 2,364
^ Arkham is still in progress, but being at university far from home I am away from my parts collection for most of the year so I have not been able to work very quickly on it.

I will definitely be at Brick 2015 and make it my business not to be ill! :)

I've just made my last order for my Bricklinked #10179.

Purely an academic exercise, and as my annual winter project, just to see if it was still possible! Everything sourced new, usual alternatives used total cost including P&P (but excluding minifigures) around £625

Just bought the new lego pirate ship. Can't wait to get home and build it!

I used a standard LBG dish, black rigging and LBG/black levers, and LBG/DBG for some of the rarer technic parts. In total it was around 3% different (approx. 185 parts) but it makes the cost a lot more bearable!

If you are building it, you may want to buy one used or without the box/damaged box. It can save you a lot of money. I bought mine for 450 with a mint condition box but the seller accidentally tore a small hole in the side of the box when packaging it so he refunded me 100 bucks for something I was going to open up and build anyways.

If you get it built it would be great to see a pic of it side by side with another set of you have it (another pirate ship would be great) so we can get an idea of general size.

    Thanks!

Finished building the Palace Cinema and starting the Pet Shop. Grand Emporium next.
Enjoyed building the Detective Office and Parisian Restaurant. Still looking for a Fire Brigade at a fair price.

Trying to find a Tower Bridge on discount. So far have seen it for 20%, but waiting for 30%. Should've bought it at 25% but I made the mistake of waiting.
