From what I've heard Billy Murray wanted nothing more to do with the franchise so it's unlikely he'll be in it.

So many people have jumped on the "it's definitely going to be crap so I'm going to hate on it without knowing a thing about it" bandwagon that it's crazy. It might turn out to be a terrible film, but I'm at least going to watch it and make my own decision. It makes sense to me that in the Ghostbusters universe that after the events of the first two films there might be other people who go into Ghostbusting, so I see no problem with an all female team of Ghostbusters.
Yeah, the amount of blind hatred I've seen for the new Ghostbusters movie has been ludicrous. I haven't seen a whole lot about it, but what I have seen — the new proton packs, the new Ecto-1, the new costumes — seems genuinely pretty good. But some people can't look past the gender of the characters because they imagine it to be a part of some huge feminist conspiracy and not just, you know, making some harmless changes because the old actors aren't all available.

Can you imagine if people reacted this way to any other reboot? "The Star Trek reboot's Enterprise crew is young! Our childhoods are being ruined by elderly-hating radicals! It's the next stage in the war on old people!" Or "The new Star Wars movie is has British- and Guatemalan-born lead actors! J.J. Abrams must hate America!"

If the new Ghostbusters movie sucks, then that's the way the cookie crumbles, but I guarantee you it won't be because of the gender of the lead actors. And since bringing back all the original team was not an option, no harm in giving some new people a shot. Worst case scenario, it will be a bad movie and nobody will try rebooting Ghostbusters again. But the possibility of "no more reboots" is a risk that people who never wanted a reboot in the first place should be able to live with.
Yeah, I get fed up with all the "evil feminist conspiracy" stuff about this movie. The original movies are still there, and this one isn't contributing to the downfall of men just because we're getting a story about an all-female team of ghostbusters. I'm hoping it's fun - some much-later sequels are unfortunate, but others I've enjoyed, and I certainly won't be disappointed if a future Lego Ecto-1 is based on its version.

That's the problem:  It is evil feminist conspiracy crap.  The original Ghostbusters despite being based on fantasy (chasing ghosts) felt real because it was grounded in some kind of reality.  This new movie takes the same formula and merely switches the genders of the main characters.  For no real reason.  And part of what made those characters great was that they were men.  Grown men trooping around in jump suits with cigarettes hanging out of their mouthes and proton packs on their back was fun. Dan Ackroyd having sex with a ghost was funny.  I just don't see the same laws of comedy being applied to a group of women dressed in jump suits driving a souped up hearse chasing ghosts.  Trust me, it won't work.  And fans of the original film (not necessarily the watered down sequel) should boycott it.

Managed to grab 8/16 series 15 mini figures.  Blindly grabbed 10 and ended up with only two duplicates.  Loving them especially the the animal patrol, janitor and the tribal women.

Boycott is a harsh way of doing it.  Just don't pay to see it.  It will flop on it's own but that's not the point.  It will be crap and an insult to the original film.  It's going to be a Bridesmaids retread with watered down humor to make it PG-13 for the kids.  I loved Ghostbusters as a kid.  But I guarantee boys or girls are not going to want to see an un-imaginative remake with grown women in the leads.  But I fully expect the Bronies to show up in force ; )  They like pink.

Based on the winky smiley I guess the brony comment was meant to be a slight dig. I don't DISLIKE pink (though I'm partial to orange and purple), but I don't think people will be going to see the movie for that reason considering that so far I haven't seen any pink in the costumes, props, or marketing materials. It just seems to be yet another random stereotype you're throwing in (girly=pink). Maybe you're trying to drop hints that you're not to be reasoned with, but for now I'll stick with assuming you want to be taken seriously.

Overall, you're still just making a whole lot of assumptions that seem to be based more on your own prejudices than on anything grounded in reality. For instance, the notion that things that are funny when men do them can't be as funny when women do them, or that grown women can't interest kids as well as grown men can, or that female comic actors' performances can only ever be "retreads" of their previous roles. Do you not see how these things might seem slightly sexist, not to mention arbitrary?

And no, that image doesn't look like shit to me. It looks like a group of people in stylized exterminator uniforms, much like the original team. Granted, it's a more grounded approach to the costumes than the original movies — looking a bit more D.I.Y. and less like they came onto the job as experts in commercial branding. This slightly more grounded approach is also apparent in the design of the new proton packs and Ecto 1. It's basically a reversal of the over-the-top lights and gimmicks used in the costumes and props for Ghostbusters 2, which were blatantly designed for toy store shelves. The new visual identity makes it easier to believe that this team is fairly new to this whole ghost-hunting-for-hire thing, and also looks like it'll make it that much easier for fans to dress up as their favorite characters.

Tell me who then is this reboot aimed at?  Women?  I'm sorry but your average gal that doesn't attend Comic-con has no desire to see other women dressed as janitors playing ghost catchers.  Bridesmaids was a success because it ridiculed something all women love or love to hate...weddings.  It took a motley approach and it worked.  Myself, a sexist, even enjoyed it to a degree.  Nothing funnier than seeing a fat woman shit in her dress.

Today i am working on the upcoming parts order i plan on making.
trying to decide if i just get all the needed part from Lego's online Pick a Brick (PaB) and Brick and Pieces (BaP) Or to try and bricklink part of the order. (as i am using this part's order to push me over the £50 for free shipping on [email protected] i can not Bricklink all the part's. that and no bricklink shop has all the part's i need. :/
right now i have all the element numbers, and there Price on PaB-online and BaP.
i know what part's cost less on each one. still works out to £21.67 for around 165 odd parts. a good part of that is a 16x32 base plate at £3.73 and 21x White Brick 1x6 at 21p each. as well as 31 White Brick 1x4 at 12p each. and the White Plate 6x8 at 52p don't help. that is £12.38 of the order i need in just them items.

this is for my Lego Shop MOC that i am working on.

We're only through the first few levels, but it's as expected.  Break bricks, save Stan Lee, make notes as to which levels need specific powers to unlock things.  Minor positive tweaks, nothing negative (yet) that affects gameplay.

The storyline is cobbling two non-simultaneous storylines together.

Overall, it's another Lego game.  It's more of the same from the first one, Dimensions, the Lego Movie, etc.  I'll expect that we'll be on the pre-order list for the next SW Lego game...

I've just bought the Ambulance Plane and the Van and Caravan at 25% discount, and the Brick Bounty at 40% discount. Also got a number of Collectible minifigs, but still trying to get the tribal woman - may have to buy online if she doesn't turn up in my next bag-purchase. I'm planning on creating an advent calendar nativity scene for my girls to open next advent and want the tribal baby/papoose to be baby Jesus. (An adapted winged warrior will be the angel Gabriel.)

2 of each of the new Avengers sets. I have little willpower as it is, but when it comes to Iron Man variants, all bets are off. And Sensei Wu's dragon and the titanium dragon. Please new found love on Ninjago, go away and leave me be!

^why do you need two of each iron man variant? And wouldn't it be easier (and cheaper) to just order him rather than the whole sets.  Maybe you like to keep one of each variant sealed in the box... maybe I don't want to know.
Anyway, the love of ninjago is getting hard now, some of the steampunk pirates sets are stunning.  Sadly, that might be taking quite a bit of my money in 2016 - I'm currently just holding off until a decent discount (or particularly gloomy day) comes along.
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
^ It's not having 2 exact copies of each as much as it's making as many possible suit variants as I can. I've created quite the hall of armor from customizing the various suits out there. Now, I use the word custom loosely because I'm not adding non-LEGO parts or painting or adding stickers. I'm simply switching things around. The latest additions will give me 37 different suits (28 Iron Man, 8 War Machine, 1 Iron Patriot). They aren't all completely comic book or movie accurate, but I like the variety. And I do have a duplicate or two I still haven't figured out what to do with.

I do order some extras on their own to alter from time to time, but with the two newest ones there were other things in the sets I wanted, so in the end it made more sense to get duplicates of the entire sets.

    As for Ninjago...

My love came with the ghost-themed sets. I have never seen the show, but loved some of those sets. Now, I have 5 of them, the titanium dragon, all 6 flyers, the Dimensions packs, and, in 2 weeks after a visit to the LEGO store, the Temple. The steampunk ones do look good, but I'm trying my best to hold back.

    @Yodalicious and @MattsWhat
the ninjago ghost theme set's are awesome. and there useful in other ways.
when you see a ghost who you going to call?
the steampunk set's (or as lego call them skybound set's) are cool. and if i see the airship's at a good price i may get them, i may also pick up the lighthouse set later on in the year.
there is 1 more ghost theme set i am going to get and that is the £89.99 #70732 City of Stiix set. as i had 2 gold airblade's i used spare part's to make the black airblade from my 2nd gold one. so i have a full set of 5 now. right now i am missing 5 set's to complete the ghost theme set's City of Stjix i am going to get and the #70730 Chain Cycle Ambush set i am most likely to get. with #70735 Ronin R.E.X last on my list. i just dont like how it looks.
and my love of ninjago started with 1 set. #70737 Titan Mech Battle.
picked it up as it was cheap. did not think doing that was going to lead me down the road of spending all that money on one theme. that i had never looked at until seeing one cheep set on Black Friday.

Have three Lone Ranger sets on the way including the great looking Stagecoach.

Also just took advantage of some bargains on [email protected] and ordered Brick Bounty, Soldier Fort, Shipwreck Defense, MTT, Hydra Fortress Smah and Swamp Police Starter set. Split it into two orders to double up on Nexo Knights Battle Station and Robin's Mini Fortrex.

Bought one of the remaining Tumblers from the Lego store - the first large set I've bought with the idea that I might save it as an investment with the long-term aim of cashing it in towards a Town Hall. Four hours later someone lists a Town Hall beating all recent prices on ebay, BL etc. It's turned into an expensive day. On the plus side my 7 year old showed some good communication skills. "My dad's getting this big set whilst I get this little Yoda keyring". Cue the staff providing him with both Nexo knights freebies. As we were there for the February mini build he had a very good day.

Two Tumblers. One box slightly damaged. Really just waiting for the Dawn of Justice sets to drop over here.
