more like 10 trains and other odd's and sod's to do with trains set's like a turn table that i had got to use on my layout but never did use it, payed £45 for it new sold it for £20, to get shot of the dam thing. i been falling over the box with the turn table in for 5 years.
remember trains new go from £50 to £250. some of the one's i sold are unit of 4 car's or 2 cars, or had lights and sound. so it soon all add's up.

@chrisalddin I'm not sure why it's a "Limited Edition", I just thought it was a cool set with the wind mill and wondered why I didn't get it years ago.

Today I received my #31048 and #40201 . A bit disappointed in the cupid dog. I much prefer the vignettes to the characters for seasonal sets.

I have just placed 2 BL orders for a bunch of bricks to add to my basic Minecraft terrain collection, to allow me to make some much larger landscapes, which will be fun.

I also added the parts required for the Palace Cinema windows, screen and display boards, so that I can apply some custom stickers that should be arriving shortly. Really annoyingly, one of the sellers ran out of 2x4 white tiles as I was placing the order, so I had to email my other BL seller to beg him to add them to his order. Fingers crossed!

Finally, bought duplicate sticker sets for a number of sets as backups, including #70816, as I've been dying to apply them to that specific set since I bought it. I'm looking forward to seeing it in all its glory and praying that I don't b*gg*r up applying them!

Recently, I got #70805 via eBay for a good price, as I've always liked the look of both builds,  and #70753, as it was nice and cheap in Sainsburys the other day.

The Tumbler!!!   MISB for 190 seems fair to me. Been wanting the set for awhile but held off for a deal until recently the premature retiring made me finally pull the trigger

Just ordered #60107 and one of the last #76040 left in North America, apparently.

Just ordered #7628 peril in Peru, and #8964 Titanium Command Rig. Figured I needed a set from the Indiana Jones theme and one from the Power Miners theme. I think I'm finally done on buying retired sets! In theory.
  • chrisalddinchrisalddin Member Posts: 3,041
if i start buying long retired set's i be in trouble.
so i am trying not to buy sets that are retired.
may get 1 or 2 here and there. when there price is good,
but on the hole. i just going to try to stick to set that lego still stock.
for less stress, and stress = makea me ill, and ill = bad.

That's my thinking. Plus if I wait long enough, I'm sure many theme will (in a way) come back. Like how Power Miners came many years after Rock Raiders, and that sort of thing.

a lot of them can be bought under rrp, sometimes way under. only ebay sellers think that any random set doubles its value as soon as it is retired.

Although I know this to be true, because I have good (or rather popular) tastes in Lego sets, any of the ones I actually want are above RRP.  If only I had @SumoLego 's love of Space Skulls.
Edit: I thought I had better check the price on bricklink - holy cow!  So any old set will double in price then... off to check the going rate for a contruct-a-zurg now....

    Bad choice of investment much.
  • brumeybrumey Member Posts: 1,002
bricklink really has good prices on some retired sets! -60% from rrp often! and still sealed

    u gotta dig

Trying to determine whether to spring for a craigslist ad for a death star. Overall structure is there. Missing giant laser weapon, tie craft, random ornaments for each room.  Basically no minifigs.
    http://images.craigslist.org/00E0E_gG6c0TisMls_600x450.jpg

The ad had ~$120 listed, but I can't get a hard amount from him- says just make a reasonable offer.  Any advice?

  • tick1970tick1970 Member Posts: 117
Opinions? I've got £20 voucher for toysrus would u rather spend on a high item like palace cinema as they never discount or get a good future investment item of the £20 to £30 so it's almost a freebie.

It depends. Was it the 2008 version? Or the new one? The 2008 one is more valuable due to it's retired status, but the bubbles in the new version are all exclusive. Just make sure you keep it sealed. Or at the very least keep the bottle. Some people only consider beer a full set if it also has the bottle.

Not to mention the bottle top. If it has been removed from the bottle, it is doubtful if you actually own the beer.

@empire Looks like a lot of fun ahead.  Haven't built a single Star Wars set yet.  That Sandcrawler looks like it would be a fun build.  Enjoy!

Yes, it takes 10 days for shop at home orders to get to me. Clearing customs always takes a few days itself. Too bad there's no Amazon Prime equivalent for Lego.

2 Battles on Takodana, 2 New Order BPs, 1 Resistance BP, 1 Resistance Transport.....and in the past couple weeks around $500 to $700 on Bricklink orders for a MOC.

^^ I noticed in the most recent Lego catalogue it shows a map and an estimation on how long orders take to arrive throughout Canada... basically if you aren't a major city or very close (like Vancouver or Edmonton) you'll be waiting at least 11 days :o

Toysrus in Chester,  they had about 5 boxes in. Looked fairly full and unpicked through so doubt they've been out long.  I believe Smyths also have them now too.

I went to the Petersen Automotive Museum a couple weeks ago and saw quite a lot of nice cars, like the new Ford GT, Keaton's Batmobile and the classic '66 Batcycle, cars from the new Bond Spectre movie. Well another good one was a life sized Lightning McQueen from Cars. Looked so great I just had to have him in LEGO form too. So went on the bay and scooped up an Ultimate McQueen and Francisco sets (already had Ultimate Tow Mater). After 2-3 years, they were still at only RRP. Thanks for holding onto them until now Reseller :)
